Just wanted to post a review of this game.

The graphics are low end. Tactics are okay as long as the Axis players don't just quit because they are losing. Player action ingame isn't super real but it is hard enough to become addictive if played very long. Best part is the squads you can join. A good squad can make this iffy game a lot of fun. The worst part of the game is the customer support you get (or don't get). The managers of the game are quite little babies with their "world". You cannot dare ask a hard question about an issue in game or a question on why something isn't working. Their pride and joy "DOC" is one of the rudiest tech guys you'll meet. He thinks he is super smart but is only as smart as the library of reference books behind his desk. If you ask any questions he will take a day to respond (if he even will) and his tone will be "you stupid little player you" and "know listen to how smart I am". He will copy and past from some wwii book and a C++ manual and expect you to like the answer or just unsub. It is just that simple. They do not value thier customer base enough to listen to them. They over moderate their forums so REAL problems in game never get heard about to the general playerbase. You cannot defend yourself when attacked by the long time residents of the forums...if you do you get banned. The forums are advertised as a HELP area, yet you cannot get anything there but smart talk and "L" to the forehead from DOC. The forums MODS are heavy axis biased and the gamemangers are all mostly non paid volunteers that CRS give free play time for roaming around......so good luck on things being fair...if they are having a bad night, so are you. This all makes the game a little crazy sometimes. To much drama for a long time online gamer. I had 3 different accounts at one time. I tried both sides of the fight and one time floated as a merc. Boiled down to the game being okay, but CRS and its "family" just plain suck at customer service. They simply want you to pay your $15 a month and if you are ticked off and don't play...they don't care. They just want their money and PRAISE on the forums. WATCH OUT...it is all white washed around CRS. Nothing you see there is what REALLY is happening. No, the real issues: LAG, CHEATERS, BIASED GMS, POOR CONNECTION RATES, NERFING OF WEAPONS SO A SIDE HAVING WINNING PROBLEMS CAN WIN, NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT, AND COMMUNIST RUN FORUMS are what really is there. There are a lot of good people around the game playerbase, but the CRS team made me quit after 2 years of playing. The drama and white washing was a NO GO for me. Plus it is alot to pay to get NO CUSTOMER HELP.

Watch out for DOC...he is a D head.

also, the whole game manager team thinks they are gods gift to the gamers world.  they like to use historical data, but yet have not like that the nazis didnt win the war with their superior equipment.  i really think that is why these bozos created this game....to see and show us all how great the axis are....just look at the homepage and it starts their with the axis graphics on top of the page.  they also have a lot of axis finacial supports if the rumor mill is true.

 Sorry, it really sounds more like you got your peepee smacked on the forums than anything else. You mentioned very little about the game itself, but had most of one massive run-on paragraph full of complaints about the forums.

Here's a hint. Stay away from the WW2OL forums.

actually, you are correct to say "stay off the wwiionline forums".  The funny part is THAT IS THE ONLY PLACE to get help from the crs "team".  They leave no phone contacts for tech issues and you are at their mercy when you go in with a game/ingame problem.  So it goes like this:  You have a major ingame issue....you post your problem....you get flamed by the "regulars"....crs doesn't respond for days....you continue to get ignored, or attacked...you defend yourself....an HORRIBLE Mod locks or deletes your post and the "regulars" posts remain.  You try reposting your question/problem again....it is locked within 5 minutes.  Your problem doesn't get resolved and there is NO other place to go for help.

You MAY get a CRS response but then it will be from some moron called DOC and all he will do is tell you why you are dumb and he is the smartest guy with a Crocidile Dundee accent who makes computer sims.  He will quote from a book word for word and then call it his own idea.  He will then post it, edit it about 5 times to correct his mistypes and add more "this is why YOU are dumb and why it isn't CRS or the games fault" text.....and then lock the thread so you cannot respond to him.

The forums are not the crs help forums. YOu have to make a tickey if you want CRS to look at an issue, The forums are player controlled. The help forums are for us and run by us.  BTW...What issue did you have that was not helped. Many of us on the help forums have been playing for 8 years and have some idea of what to tell you. I rarely see anyone on the help forums being treated badly and if they are, the offender is usually smacked. CRS handles account issues since we can't, but hardware software there isn't much that hasn't been seen before.

As for gameplay, if you want something changed you better have better info than..I read somewhere, or I saw this post to get their attention. I would bet real money their library of wwII weaponry is very extensive. They trabel to museusms (just to bother my resident spell checker)around the towrld just to take pics inside and out for their art. Doc is not just a crs hack , he is the game producer hack  and  has listened to players telling him how things should be, how easy it is to code stuff , how making a change is so easy just change this line of code that he doesn't suffer fools. Take him with a grain of salt and he is OK. Killer, one of the owners is more laid back, then again, he owns and DOC runs the sim.

If you had seized on a lot of other shortcomings about this game I would have agreed. I'm hardly a blind fan and have voiced my opinions about some things relating to this game. I have played it off and on since 2001 and come back from time to time.

I have had the exact opposite experience with their customer service. You need to file a ticket via Playnet, at least that's what I have used with success. I not only get a response, they typically write me a letter -- a non-form personally written letter -- and fix my problem. I have played many games and have never had such great service with the issues I've faced. That's just my experience and I am certainly not doubting yours or meaning to diminish that.

I don't know how much time you put into your experience but I have had some very intense and amazing moments in this game. Even as someone who tends to like great graphics, this game is still fun to me. It certainly has its moments where there's not a ton to do or the battle can lick sack...overall, though, there's nothing out there that does what this game does, and I mean that in a good way, not a negative one.

I've turned on quite a few people to this game and they dig it. I have played a ton of MMOs as well as multiplayer games. I think that WW2 has plenty of issues and the forums are generally retarded. A lot of the people there have a bloated sense of self importance but I have a great solution -- I don't use it. I just enjoy the game and play it when I feel like it.

SInce playing from the 1st iteration of beta, I know this game has shortcomings, but based on what it was when Startegy First ran it out the door to take advantage of June 6th 2001, the game has processed light years. Graphics will never be stand alone, since only people with Crays could play. Standalone 32 player shoebox games can have high rez graphics since they paly on ...say 200x200 meter maps with buildings and fog foreshortening the view. WW2OL doesn't have that priviledge so they budget every polygon to get the most from each. CRS is a very small group..maybe 12 total and you can reach any of them by ID@playnet.com Bloo can fix account issues same day and has always come thru. It has a lot of faults but the Rats are gamers, and know of the faults but they can fix only what they can, as they can. Some of the code is 10 years old, so fixing stuff is not always easy and fix one thing, you break another. Bailing comes to mind....but in 1999 a decision was made to make the player a member of the crew. We were not separate but part of the vehicle, so you can't leave the plane. Some day planes may be STO..Server Tracked Objects...like trucks and maybe bailing will happen.But STOs take a lot of comp power and bandwidth so catch 22 again. STO trucks..player can leave it...and it stays in view for everyone. Thing about bailing...what would happen if you could...would you want to have a pistol and walk 50 kilometers to despawn. It would be cute, floating to earth, but then what. It wont add much to gameplay, only eye candy. Same as medics, you want to survive and lie there till someone drives a truck to you to have you despawn? Gameplay vs coding, art time. Lot of things more important need fixing.

I always think I pay for updates in the pipeline and play for free.

A few months ago I tried the free trial as I am playing on and off since 2004, just waiting for an engine upgrade. Anyway, for the trial you need to input your credit card details, before trial ended I forgot to change the settings so that the game doesnt automatically sing me up for a monthly subscription. I wrote to crs through their tech support system and guess what,  they have refunded me the money even though they didnt have to as it was my fault.

I doubt any other mmo company outhere would let me off like that....

I agree. I just dumped my sub as well. These guys run this game like a freakin little army of over zealous nuts led by some dude with a god complex.

Game is all good, but the customer service is like nothing I have ever experienced.

Staff are in game (you don't know who) and they will ban you for doing anything they don't like.

Forum posts are deleted for simple reasons, i.e. you have made a criticism .

This game will never be the game it could be. I like the communist tag, funny, that's what I called them too.

No, I believe the game and its managers did a terrible job on several occasions and as a former paying customer I am telling people about it via these forums. Just as I would do if a friend or myself was posioned at Burger King. I would tell people about it.

Now go back to CRS and get 1.30 done already for those that are still around. Is this DOC????
 

Sorry, wasn't me.  No, there are a good number of us that are displeased with what is happening there in WWII land.   I guess it is you that have failed as the number grows.  Maybe if you spent less time on these forums, and your own, defending against people that are truely upset and displeased with your game...or tongue lashing them with copied facts out of a book and calling them your own..... and maybe FIX the issues and finish a new "engine"....  in turn answering those people concerns..maybe there would be less people upset?  hmmmmm?   In the end if you don't fix the game and the way you talk to your customers.......you will fail completely. 

I will get over it, but I just think people should know the other side.  You know, the one that isn't WHITEWASHED like the CRS side of the fence.  After all, isn't that what these mmorg forums are really about?  I don't deny that the game is very good in the sense of role playing and team work.  But on the other fields it fails.  Customer support, for me, was the back breaker.

Get that free trial...and then play a little longer.....and see for yourselves.  But I warned you of the problems.  That is all.

You did email Bloo@playnet.com with your problems? CRS is only 12 people, and they work on rewrites, upgrades, fixes and maintain the game as is. I think they do pretty well. Customer support is one guy, bloo I believe. Players work the help forums and many have been here since first beta and have a good idea how to fix hardware problems. Bloo controlls account problems. You have yet to explaine what your problem was and what you did to try to fix it. Vague complaining is just that.

Work on engine, work on deep code fixes to take advantage of engine, fix bugs as they go, make sure it doesnt break something else, rely on players to work hardware faults and all this is done as I said with about 12 people. Doc is not going to suffer anyone. They are not going to change any item because you read, these guys shot 3 rounds at 200meters and killed this tiger. What is lacking, it cumiliative damage on armar. Hit the exact same spot over and over and eventually in real life you will penetrate it.  For now, if it can penetrate it on first round, the damage is tracked, if it doesnt penetrate, then it is tracked as it richochetes..untill it is spent or 3k meters is traveled.

If you could hold your head level would you be surprised to get an answer from the developers within an hour or two. There is not lots of other games where the developers is on a constant daily dialog to the players, is there.

But judging from your tone here is it obvious that someone failed miserably teaching you common manners. Hence why the Rats proberbly ignored you.
