you guys that want the olden golden days of EQ and UO it will never happen, but what is happening is this ball and cup.

yah i think mmorpgs are over with. WoW killed it with their design now everyone are followers. Played aion. Its like WoW with wings almost exactly the same interface just moved around a bit and om,bat lil more glittery and fluffier. I give up with mmo's prolly gon stick with aoc fo blood, guts, n glory casually.

I just want my Anarchy Online revived and revisted with the damn graphics engine we have been promised... That'd make me a happy old camper... Or maybe get some population on Planetside again, so fights would be like the good old days and the old timers would come back so the fear would sitll be there knowing a group of elites were fighting to face own you as you hot dropped on a base... But I guess we can't expect much from MMO's these days, the greedy game companies dryed out and dusted the good dev's that made the good games together and spread them out and thin unable to collaberate great games together again.

I like mmos, not so big on mmorpgs......so I welcome the future!

(even though there seem to be more non rpg mmos in the past)

Yes and it was fun because you were always grouped with others in doing adventures and never alone, now today its all soloed and instanced and linear.

 The real money will come when devs wake up and realize the next hit will be the true next gen persistant world sandbox.

Until then, new WoW copy MMOs will continue to fail and disappoint.

If people want a WoW like game THEY WILL PLAY WOW!

Rofl??????  Yes grinding nonstop for days and weeks no end with nothing better to do than kill the same mobs in an area is fun?  

Newsflash you can do that in todays mmos as well.

and it was fun yes, because it was hard and challenging and a thrill and you were never alone because you were in groups and you say you had to kill the same mob in the same area over and over. I dont know what Korean Grinder you were playing but back in the days of EQ before WoW , there were multiple places a group could go to get level up and have fun

Dude, you can do all of that even in WoW. If that is the way you like to play, then no one is stopping you! Stop blaming the game for your gameplay choices. You don't HAVE TO take the path of least resistance!

Well there you go so quit your bitchin'.  You've got your ball and your cup.  You can swing the ball and catch it in the cup.  But if you don't catch it, don't worry, the ball is attached to the cup with a string and can't fall.  So if you miss the ball you can swing it again and try to catch it in the cup again.

Hours and hours of endless entertainment.  How could anybody be unsatisfied with that?

Its a true story... The PS4 and XBox 560 (the 5th dimension!!) just came out and totally killed WoW.... all the MMO's in development were shut down.

Now all we'll get is 15 variations on Need for Speed and Grand Theft Auto every year...

Shame on you!  You want tough mobs that can actually put up a fight?  Well that might be fine for you but you need to think about other people.

What about poor little Timmy with ADD who can't focus on one thing for more than five seconds?  He's going to look away from the fight and die because of it.  Is that what you want?  IS IT?

Sneakers, I actually agree with you on this one. The old days were better for a lot of reasons.

However those days are gone now, with insta-gratification gameplay, and the induction of 10 million players between the age of fetus and 12.

I can't tell whether the OP is being facetious with all of his grammatical mistakes or if he is being genuine and just not well versed in the English language.

Forget that. Somebody just needs to throw away the damned rulebook (like that one article said) and make a MMORPG from the ground up. The only problem is that nobody's found a way to do it yet. That doesn't mean there's not one out there, it just means that we haven't found it yet. MMORPGs lay the best foundations for a community experience out of all the game genres (With FPS games, you need to have friends to make friends, and with most other games you'll never make friends period for one reason or another). The genre's just gotten bogged down by this idea that there is a formula to making a MMORPG. That you have to have levels, skills, experience, monsters, npcs, weapons and armor all set out in a specific style so that even the dumbest of players can understand them. We're seeing a point in time where 99% of MMORPGs are recycled off of each other, and that's definitely giving the genre a bad name. That doesn't mean that this time can't end. We just need somebody to bring us out of it.

Anyone know of a way to filter out all of the sandbox are awesome themepark mmos suck posts? They are annoying and hard to avoid like those Extense commercials on t.v.........  Was there this big of a fight when cassets gave way to cd's? Like it or lump it, linear is the now...just deal. Maybe it will change. Hell my daughter dresses like she walked out of a pretty in pink movie and i never thought the 80's would ever...EVER be "In" again. People are not that original, they will rehash old ideas it is a matter of time. This happens in every facet of entertainment. Be patient...

MMORPGS a thing of the past?  Lay off the recreational sinus medicnes.

IMO If anything MMORPGS are the base of all computer gaming at this time. I havent bought a single player game in a long time. MMO's have my attention far longer than single player games, but this is just me but i highly doubt im alone in this.

A lot of people complained that they would have to buy all of their music again but there wasn't a real big ruckus over it.
