OK so I posted before looking for a good MMORPG, didn't find one that I enjoyed for some reason. So I downloaded the WAR trial to see if the memory leak has finally been patched out (it was rare apparently) and that was a no-go. I played a Black Guard for awhile and now I've fallen in love with polearms (not spears, polearms). I don't know why. I used to be a two-handed sword type of guy. My question is, what MMORPG (free or P2P) has a class devoted to the polearm (or at least can spec into it or stuff)? I know about WoW and WAR, but I would love a class that can't really get anything BUT a polearm or at least have a spec that's devoted to it. The more action-y the better, but even a slow pace MMORPG is fine as long as I can get those delicious polearms.

I had the memory leak issue in WAR too. I eventually fixed it before I got bored of the game due to repetition, but I can't for the life of me remember exactly how. It did take well over 10+ hours of trying various things to get it to work. Anyway as far as the question goes: Age of Conan - Guardian has a spec devoted to polearm. Dream of Mirror Online - Has a class devoted entirely to the polearm. It's a defensive class though. Atlantica Online - Has a "spearman" class that wields polearms. |

I seem to remember Silkroad let you do that. Most MMORPGs with an eastern setting should let you pick polearms. I've tried a few more where this applies, but can't remember the names. |

The Gladiator class in Aion can either use a Polearm or a Great Sword - It's just up to you to decide which you prefer (although I'm not entirely sure if there are other differences between them, besides attack speed). You must start out as a Warrior and reach level 10 before you can actually wield one, but it's not a terribly long process.
Aion isn't released in NA/EU (I think NCSoft are aiming for Q4 of this year), but I am currently playing the Chinese version and am enjoying it. I believe the Chinese version gives free time when you first sign up, so it's worth a shot just to see if you like the gameplay. |

Originally posted by EmployedHobo Aion has a Gladiator class that can use 2 handed sword, polearm, or duel swords. It's mostly a off-tank that can DPS. You can play it in China with english speaking players (yea there are quit a few westerners playing over there with a english patch). Here is a link if you want to give it a go. aion.mmosite.com/ Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

Awesome, I'll start with the F2P ones first. I know it's a weird question (even I'm weirded by it) but it's still a legit one. :D Thank you all for the list! I'm still open for more suggestions. |

No f2p game will give you this IMO: www.youtube.com/watch Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

Aion does look awesome but I'm saving that for last because it has the most potential for me just based off the videos. Keeping the best (hopefully) for last. |

I heard that Atlantica Online has characters that can use the scythe. |

Dark Age of Camelot (DAOC) had the Albion Isle's "Armsman" tank-like class that could either go sword-and-board or specialize with a 2-handed Polearm.
