its not too late to start. i been playing for few weeks have many of my chars above 40. leveling has been made bit easier for below 50. newbie buffs go all the way upto 62 and with new common items you dont have to spend weeks making money for your gear.

You should start, Lineage II is a great game, if you dont have enough time you can try on a high rate server. Obviously, retail is the best option but you need to pay. Aion will be a great game, but L2 still has a lot of godd things. Graphics are amazing, even if yo udont have a good GC.

So, try play for a time L2, some players say that is an old game (and its true) but I prefer say that is a game with experience and wisdom, NCsoft know how to make MMORPG games.

Never is too late to start playing an amazing game ^^

It's never too late to start Lineage 2. Forget everything you migh have heard in the past (years ago), the game is totally different and way more streamlined and accessible.

I'm not currently active, but I picked up the game for the first time since launch, a few months ago, and I had a blast leveling a handful of characters to 40's-50's range. Other stuff just came up, but I'll be back for sure. Itching to try Gracia Final.

It's never too late to start playing Lineage II.  It's a great game with some great people in it.  We have lots of people coming back after not playing for years and they are amazed at the changes.  One friend rerolled and is almost Noblesse, having leveled his new main to 78 and his subclass to 74.  And I can attest to the fact that he is legit.  He's just a grinding fool.  Plays every single day without fail.

I played Lineage for four years before moving to Lineage II in 2004.  We have some of our original members from almost 9 years ago.  The people are what make the game, the game doesn't make the people.

L2 and Aion are 2 seperate beasts.  Word is Aion is going for wowy.

L2 is a very intricate game.  Far more than a grinder.  It's just not for the instant gratification crowd.

Also 1-40 is FAR FAR more fun and quicker than before.  Light years better.

It's a solid game and it's not going anywhere.  Wouldn't be a waste of your time invested IMO.

I'm about to give it another go. I tried it a while back (4+ years, forget when exactly) but as I got ganked constantly I gave up pretty quickly. I think the problem was that I didn't understand the concept of MMOs as it was my second MMO after EVE. In the last 5 years I've played loads of the big named MMOs and have a much better idea of what I'm supposed to do. Not sure I'd recommend L2 for a MMO noob though.

I'm downloading the Gracia client now and have reactivated my account for a month to give it a try, I'll come back in a few days to give you my views.

Lineage ][ still feels fresh, has a ton of content, and is much easier to level through 2nd class change now.

Very cool game; most under-rated in NA ever.  Shame for those that missed out on the GvG and Sieges.

Definately not too late.

Are they working on getting rid of the bots at all?

I was reading another thread that said they ruin the economy in the game.  I was thinking of purchasing this off of Steam, but hearing those kinds of things make me worry.

Are they active about trying to get rid of the bots or is it just a case of letting them roam rampant?

Starting L2 in 2009 should be a crime , the only point when this game was worth it on retail was C1-C3 when most of the people were in the lvl 30-60 range and pvp was all over the place , after 60 farming is just stealing the life out of you , and if you're gonna bot you might aswell play another game imo , nowadays I hear the max lvl is 85 and you can get bonuses from your subs if they are lvl 75+ or whatever so yeah have fun lvling for 3 years before you can compete with retards who botted and bought shit on ebay to get ahead years ago , damn typing this post made me remember what a mess this game is .

PS: About the "economy" ? What's the saddest part is if they actually removed all the bots no one would be able to gather enough materials to craft a damn glove .

Yea sure they are working on it, but they do truly suck at it.

The ecenomy is not a problem its fine the way it is.

But I can say you this even if NC runs this game like crap its a good game, if you havent tried it you are missing out on some fun.

Its pretty easy to get to lvl 76+ and at 78+ the slow as grind kicks in.

There are two types pf pvp one is when lvl 85 pvp other lvl 85 for dominance and there is the neautral clans that pvp and then lvl 76 is good enough to participate.

If you wanna trie it and lvl fast and be good in pvp I would go with a Spellhowler, just subbed on and do about 2 - 3 lvls aday when I am lvl 58.

Kimmar if you want a trial give me a pm, then you dont have to waste money to trie it. not that you will experience anything amazing in 7 days but why not  :)

Dont lisen to anything this person just said. They have no idea what they are talking about even if they use to play the game before it does not matter today. I cant stand people who have nonthing but negative comments from the start to the end of there post. If you thinking of playing Lineage 2 I say go ahead and try it. This game still has a healthy population and still gets free update expansions every 6 months. When either of these change then it will be too late to join.

If there was another game out like Lineage 2 then it would be different but there is no other game out thats even close to the style of Lineage 2. The experience you get from Lineage 2 is unlike any other MMO. I will tell you the same thing I tell everybody else. If you are they type of person who likes quest based mmos with fast leveling then Lineage 2 is not for you.

I been a Lineage 2 player for 4 years but my time with the game is finally comming to its end. I am going to be moving to Aion when it releases but I will jump over every MMO out or comming out for just a glimpse of Lineage 3. All other MMOs are just fillers till Lineage 3 comes.

TWILIGHT ONION!

7/30/09 7:44:07 PM#20

L2 is a awesome game, but if its a choice between Aion and L2 id say go with Aion. From my experience, its everything L2 is and more. If you are more on the casual side you will probably like Aion more as well.

I got an L2 trial code when I preordered Aion at the NCSoft website. It's just a trial, but a good way to at least try the game nonetheless, if you are leaning toward Aion. Plus it will give you something to do until launch :)

I love Lineage 2, and its not to late to start. Im planning on reactivating my account this weekend, after a six month break.  Lineage 2 is one of my favorite MMOs of all time, and you really should give it a go.

However, claiming that WoW doesnt require any skill is just ignorant.  I think  WoW has some of the best created raid bosses/encounters in any MMO, and they require planning, cordination and players who know how to play their class to get them down. Ill mention Lady Vashj  and Kael'thas back in BC or the Four Horsemen,  Yogg-Saron and
Algalon the Observer from WOTLK.
WoW has content that is challenging for many different type of players, and on different "skill levels".

Hey OP,

I am going to disagree with everyone who is saying it is not too late to start. It is far too late to start unless you want to play a game all by yourself. The starting zones are empty and you will not reach the level where most players are unless you play consistently for a year or you buy illegitimate services. You may go out into the starting zone and see lots of players, but the vast majority of these will run in "trains" and never respond to you because they are either gold farmers or bot users. You are far better off waiting for Aion because it will have a large influx of players where everyone is equal instead of trying Lineage 2 where you are always going to be behind everyone.

I disagree with the poster above me, I had played lineage in c2 until last year, and they have come a very long way. I reactivated two months ago, and started a new character on a new server since my old server was boring me. It is very easy to level from 1-40, solo and in about a week. Once you hit 40, there are plenty of people to group with to do raid bosses, or do dungeons together. It might be a bit harder since there are alot of level 70+ but if you can get into a good clan, and they help you a bit, you can get 60 and do seiges and raids and stuff like that. The people that say the economy is fucked are entirely right, but ncsoft did try to fix that, by adding common gear, which is like mid grade gear that is somewhat easy to farm for. There are quite a few bots but they are always easy to kill and honestly nobodys opinion is going to really make or break the game for you, you may as well try it, since there will always be l2 fans, and people who dislike it.

all this talk makes me want to play again, but  about how long will it take me to level to 70 area, from starting afresh? I probably could put in about 10 hours a week, maybe a bit more, just because class is starting next week.. Would I even have a chance of getting anywhere?
