As many others, i've waited for this game for a long time, I like to PvP, and any game without PvP, in some form or another is not for me.
This game in particular captured my attention, due to all its promised features, and skill based combat system.

In first glance the game looked okay, not as good as AoC, not as bad as WoW.
After a while, I noticed even the roots of the trees, are swaying in the wind, not gamebreaking, but still annoying, for me atleast.
I was dissapointed in the looks of the spells, in particular mana missile, which was pretty much the only spell around when i started. Soon learned the higher-lvl spells didnt look better, again, not gamebreaking.

I ran off to the goblin spawn, without even picking up the quest, just heard everyone else talking about this place in the chat, was a bit hard to find, but after 10 min of running around,  and a little help from people in the chat i finally got there.
I didnt find these goblins hard at all, well, if you were alone at the spawn, and you got 3 on you, then yes, you'd have a problem, but mostly the gob spawn was crowded.
If you took a step back and looked at the spawn, you'd see 5 guys running after the same goblin, all swinging their swords or polearms like crazy, which in some cases would end up with one becoming rogue, and the other 4 would quickly forget the little gob and jumped the poor rogue.
I found that extremly funny, and must admit that I too was one of the annoying dudes at gob spawn trying to get everyone to hit me so i could kill with no penalty, and if they hit me twice and tried to run for town, and get zapped would make my day.

All in all, this game at this point was extremly fun.

I met a dude at the spawn, he pm'ed me a couple of questions, i somehow remembered his name later on when I had some questions, so we quickly became good pal's.
After running around for a couple of hours, doing some kill x collect y quests, we decided to go kill some people, I got invited into a ventrilo server, and met 2 others' who was ready to make blood rain from the skies.

We had no mounts, we had no good gear, but we didnt care, PvP is what we came for, and at this point, we were ready to collect the reward.
The guys i just met were elves, and ran to wolf area to PvP with us, so we set camp at a gob spawn close to one of the wolf starter towns, and started slaying 1 newbie after another, very satisfying, since the 2 of us were wolfs and could follow the race chat.
We started a clan, got some members, all good, ran around the whole map, killing everyone we saw, we didnt have allies, we didnt have a hamlet or a city, so there was no limit to who we could kill.

After a while we heard about these "Rigor pools", (Rigor is a skill, which gives you some defence to all attacks, its skilled up by taking damage) So some of us went there and spendt 6 hours running around in this bugged pool to get our stats up.. Cheater? I dont know, but when it comes to PvP, I don't like others' to have an unfair advantage, so i jumped in and raised the skill.
Rigor was not the only bug in game though, we heard about how people duped mounts, killed bugged mobs over and over, and how much hacks were used in this game.

This discouraged me a little, but I kept playing anyway, in hopes of AV finding a solution, but they didnt, thread after thread on the official forum, was about how they just seen someone catch up to a mount on foot and slaying both mount and the rider, or how someone came out of nowhere and stole their mount.

AV then made an official statement, that they could detect this, and "No hackers is safe! if you have used a hack just once! you will be found!" or something along those lines.

I kept playing the game, me and a friend ripped the bank of our old clan and joined another one, one with a big city.
See, this changed everything, there was no more camping at noob spawns, now we fought other clans, and usually got pretty good loot, and on the side we ran small PK groups of 2-5 people, searching for other small PK'ing groups, killed 'em and took their loot, and armor. I got a raft one time off of a fire mage. I was very happy :D

But here is where it gets old, theres not much more to the game than that, sure theres creatures you can go kill, but it's more profitable killing those who kill the creatures.
And if you were to go farm some mobs, you better be watching your back, most pk groups search these places first.

Oh ye, I forgot the crafting, I did try that, mined 2k iron and timber, and made arrows out of it all, to help me get beyond 75 archery. Crafting requires alot of clicking, unless you choose to macro it, but then again, why play the game if you macro, then you might aswell do something else.

After this point, I slowly lost interest in the game, not because i got owned, or cant handle the hardcoreness. I mean everyone dies at some point, and in the end i made more from pk'ing than i lost. 

In sieges i had to turn down everything, GFX, resolution, 3d sound all the way down, and i still had some lagg.

Intel core i7 920 2.6
Gigabyte ex58-ud4p mobo
Radeon HD4870 1gb ddr5
2x2 gigs of cosair RAM
Vista premium 64bit

I had a some problems with the sound in this game, sometimes i would sound like my friend was running on the sides, or behind me, when he was running right in front of me, that gave me a little problem in PvP, but my friends didnt have this problem, so i tried to update sound drivers, but it didnt help.

I still go and  look at Darkfalls official forum from time to time, and read what everyone else is thinking of the game.

From time to time I see a post that goes like "STFU, im having a blast in DF, it's the best game ever!", and to them i just have to say "Good, close down mmorpg.com, stop trying to defend it, just PLAY it, or should i say macro it".

On the other hand i see many post about how DF have failed, both here, and on official forum....

I was wondering though, instead of spending all your time defending a game which is broken in so many ways, why aren't you playing it?

Getting tired of it too? just here to be internet-tough-guy? waiting for something better to be released?.. just curious

Like OP's analogy with a movie, i prefer a small inspired playerbase then a rotten one.  Its nice a exploiter got bored and hope more of his kind leave. Btw why you here ?

lol your acting like i used every bug in the game to gain advantages, i used one out of many.. like lots of other people did too, if the game haven't been bugged, I and everyone else woudn't use it. simple as that.

Even when people ran around in the pools, and the GM's stood next to the pool, they coudnt do anything, that alone shows that this game is broken.

but, lets talk again in 6 months Darth... :) i'll clap in my little hands when i see a post from you about how the game is getting boring, no content, still hackers around, still bugged, and the inspired playerbase you speak about is so small, that you woudnt be able to fill 2 teams in a 1v1 war.. :D

Did it occur you that at this point it seems very probable that you might end up with a small rotten playerbase in the end ? And that ,that would make you end up with the really reallly short end of the stick?

Youd expect all of these problems in a F2p game but sadly this compagny had the guts to ask for money to play this game .On paper their feature sound good but sadly they failed to deliver what they advertised.
