Patience is a virtue, reason a necessity

Hey Everyone,

Now that a good amount of time has gone by since Blizz introduced Dual spec and new talents for certain classes. I would like to know your thoughts. I enjoy wow from time to time, Im considering coming back to play it only until Aion is released in the NA.

1) Do you like the new dual spec, and talent upgrades?

2) Are more people /needing now with Dual Spec? (for multiple gear sets, like a Druid needing on dps leather gear and cloth, leather caster gear)

3) Is raiding easier with dual specs now?

4) has this in some way reduced the number of alts that have been created?

5) Is the change good enough to come back and try, or is it a pass until new expansion or a new patch?

6) Has Arthas been released yet as raid content, or is there a date for his future release?

7) Is end game still strong in WoW or has it become a complete gear grind with no more fun content?

8) Is there a new OP class now since Retadins?

9) Are Warlocks good enough to play again? (my lock is 80, and his dps was horrible for raids and pvp before this patch, just curious about their effectiveness now)

Your general thoughts?

Thanks for the replies, incase you dont know what Aion is, and are interested here is the main NA website www.aiononline.com/us

P.S. Anyone hear anything about WoW's new MMO? *edit* fixed some epic fail spelling errors

Was the Dual Spec Patch a good addition to WoW?

Yes.
No.
Kind of.
I like Pie.
What is this patch you speak of.

The dual spec feature is great, the only downside is you need to have another set of gear to take advantage of it if you're a healer.  For example, if you're a feral druid that dual specs to resto, you need to equip a set of gear with +spell power/healing istead of stamina/agility/attack power, etc.  One day Blizzard needs to implement a new feature that allows you to change the stats of your gear at will depending on what spec you're using, or even what task you're trying to accomplish.

As a priest that has not yet hit 80 i can say this patch is just pure win.

I can see problems arising at higher levels though with people getting greedy for loot for their 2nd spec (need to clamp down on that in the guilds though, cant do much in pugs)

In regards to locks, locks are doing very well in raids atm. Fights in Uld are pretty varied thou. Some heavily favor melee while others favor ranged.

1) Do you like the new dual spec, and talent upgrades?

Yeah I love dual spec. I think its one of the best upgrades in WoW so far because as a healer it enables me to farm dailies more often and experience raiding from a different perspective.

2) Are more people /needing now with Dual Spec? (for multiple gear sets, like a Druid needing on dps leather gear and cloth, leather caster gear)

Yes in pugs but most people ask first if they can roll for offspec (in fact all i've met so far). I don't need any stuff from heroics anymore so i don't mind either way. In raiding our guild has a good set of rules which is mainspecs always go before offspecs and we work with dkp.

3) Is raiding easier with dual specs now?

Yes and no. Old content like naxx 25 is a lot easier with dual spec. New content like ulduar was made with dual spec in mind. Hence on a fight like XT200 you need more then 5 healers and on other fights you need less. What is true is that its a lot easier now to find tanks and healers for any raid, as many dps that chose a healing spec as second now can join the raid as healers, the same is true for dps that have a tank spec as second.

4) has this in some way reduced the number of alts that have been created?

Yeah it has. I was levelling a mage to have a dps character on the side, but when dual spec was announced i figured i might as well dps with my priest.

5) Is the change good enough to come back and try, or is it a pass until new expansion or a new patch?

Well that depends, if you where bored to death with WoW I'm not sure if dual spec is enough to rekindle your interest. What is true is that if you run a hybrid class is that you can now experience the game from a different perspective. Furthermore if you love raiding you will definatly enjoy Ulduar which is the coolest raiding instance so far in my opinion.

6) Has Arthas been released yet as raid content, or is there a date for his future release?

Arthas is not in the game yet and is expected for a future release.

7) Is end game still strong in WoW or has it become a complete gear grind with no more fun content?

That depends on the person. For me endgame has never been a geargrind, I enjoy raiding with my friends for the community feeling and the challenge of learning progressive content, gear obtained is just icing on the cake. If all you care for is having the best gear available then i can imagine you'd be bored pretty fast.

8) Is there a new OP class now since Retadins?

In arena Priests and Rogues are currently flavour of the month.

9) Are Warlocks good enough to play again? (my lock is 80, and his dps was horrible for raids and pvp before this patch, just curious about their effectiveness now)

DPS in pve has improved a lot, aside from that they are one of the most wanted classes for raids because there is a shortage of lvl 80 warlocks. Not sure about pvp as I don't play one.

What Blizzard has announced is it will be a completely new IP. So no WoW2 or World of Starcraft but something new. Aside from that nobody knows anything.

Dual spec was just brilliant, it made my Warrior even more fun to play. After being bent over and screwed repeatidly by SOE, Blizzard makes the most played class even more fun! Kudos Blizzard!

Surprisingly for me (playing a Holy paladin, a rogue and a slow leveling WL in its early 70's), I find the dual spec exciting for the DPS classes.

Finally a good way to spec PvP and PVE with the dps classes.

As for the Holy/DPS  I find the gear weight in my bags too heavy for a quick change. I would have to carry around 4 different sets and that's not so good (Holy PvP/Pve and Dps PvP/Pve).

Of course it depends if you play enough PvP/Pve. I would say I play 90/10.

So no, I am not using my Pala as I thought I would have in its dual specs. Although the gear is purple in all 4 branches. I just need bigger bags then the usual 20 slots... The mechanics work perfectly (easy transfer and no real cooldowns) but it doesn't help much if you constantly need to visit the bank slots for PvP/PvE/Holy/Dps....

:(((((.

Look Zorndorf lost a star again. ;)) The inconvenient linked truth hurts on mmorpg.com

Agreed - dual spec is made of win for my hunter.

With an extra pvp spec to switch to, I no longer feel like a free kill to any rogue that looks in my direction

Id like to them to have different versions of spells for pvp and pve that way they could actually balance pvp and not have dillemmas like."well that would be too overpowered in pve/pvp".

Make sense?
