So Tasos said they had 100,000's of people waiting to sign up and their were running the game as a paid beta till they could get more servers up in the US. But now it seems darkfall is officially released today, and anyone can buy the game anytime, except... well no new servers are needed!! The dev's say their one server can handle all their subs. Their one server that is already jam packed full and lagging each night. So Basically, it was rubbish about how many people wanted in, instead they have 1 server, maybe 10-15k subs and thats it. No rampaging hordes of PVP'ers wanting in. There are no more servers opening, there is no hordes at the gates waiting to get in, this is it, no more servers, no influx of players. |

*waits for either really cheap game or free trial* There's going to be one soon, I promise you.

add to your list "soon there's not going to be any game" and it'll be complete. |

And this surprises people why? They designed a game to absolutly cater to a group that makes up 1-2% of the MMO playerbase. Don't be surprised when you get it. Seen a million MMOs and I rocked them all. |

Woot I just bought Darkfall. I have been waiting forever. I could never buy it because the shop was always open while I was at work. |

Strange thing happened to me. Last Friday, (15th) I tried to buy DF. When I entered my CC number it told me something failed and I should contact my financial institution. I just figured the store was down again and didn't bother. On Tuesday when I went to pay my CC bill online I found my account disabled with a note to please call. So they tell me that I had been charged by a company called 'Darkfall' $57.18 which was approved, then billed a 2nd time for the same amount which was declined and caused the freeze on my account. I haven't had time to go back in and see if I have an active account yet or not, (very busy week at work) but this weekend I'm going to check in and see if I can finally log into DF, or if I have to call my CC company back and dispute the charge.

Well, Aventurine's billing system isn't very solid, that's not the first time this has happened. |

It was inevitable. Not because it caters for niche of gamers, but because the game has so many problems. I'm one of the players who would have subbed to DF had it been in release state. Some people are extremely easy to please, and don't mind having many buggy/clunky/watered down/missing features to get to the 'meat' of the game (exciting pvp.. whatever). I hope MO does well and shows people that DF's failures were NOT because it was 'hardcore' or what have you, but because it was simply lacking. severely. |

Just a guess, but turn-over has reached the point where having the shop open 24/7 is necessary.
I am sure it's all the fault of that embicile Zitron though. Considering he cut off Tasos's 601 |

They probably haven't sold out the number of copies they allocated this round. So much for the thousands waiting in line to get in. As for the queues, the servers are pretty empty, which is why queues aren't a problem. ~Ripper |

this is the worst logic ever. how bad must the login server be to crash the game. how bad must it be that you queue, not to play, but to LOG IN seriously flawed there mate, either you're chatting bear breeze or this really is the worst fucking game ever programmed
If the queues were so the login could cope, there wouldnt have been a limit to in game players, there wouldnt be a need to limit sales. quite honestly it shouldnt take over an hour to log in, do you understand that part. so mr forum poster for urine again must be lieing about something.
sony come on do your thing, buy this game off of the pos devs, put a team who atleast knows wtf an mmo is in charge and get cracking on the cheaters. with you know, some kind of anti hack mecanism OH WAIT ITS CLIENT SIDE DUH YOU CANT PROTECT THE DATA
I wish this game was good, the concept is awesome, its excution is fail far beyond words normally used to describe fail :( Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man! |

It sounded like a good game, so much hype for so many years. Then I saw a video of it and knew I'd never pay anything to play it. This was before "that review" and since that review I think it just added many more nails to the coffin. No doubt SOE will buy it and add it to their graveyard of mmo's or it will completly die off. I dont think the dev's lied, they probably beleived what they said, they just didnt realise they were all living in cloud cookoo land.

errrmm, i just posted what the forum moderator was posting, i know how crappy the game is firsthand. yes, aventurine defines the word "fail" completely new and still people trick new players into wasting 50 bucks into this pos software by telling everyone how cool this game is and how hardcore. imo the shop is still open because noone is buying and av runs out of money. maybe i should have posted a smiley in my previous post or i have misread your reply ... sounded like you think that i am a df fan, maybe it's just my rusty english and i got that wrong. but don't worry, other ffa pvp games are on the horizon and maybe the other companies will do it right this time. *crosses fingers* :) jedi mind - heavenly divine, steadily shine in '99! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVZyX5glEgs |

There was a pretty indepth post on an EU site that broke down Darkfalls subscription numbers. Looks like it reached 9k several times, but as people leave the game, they open up sales again. (makes sense). I think Darkfall has sold maybe 15k boxes (downloads), over the last 3 months. But we all know they are having a hard time retaining subs. Seems like this latest ploy is a way for Tasos to grab some additional $$ before they close it doors...?

LOL... good point! Some people really don't look at the over all pipcture before they spew fanbois nonesense. I remember Tasos telling us that a new website was comming. Then he said they were working on North American servers... ..when EVERYONE knew he was lying. If they fire Tasos, they can keep the game open one more month!

"According to information, such was the demand for subscriptions that have Audiovisual 1,000 accounts every day for several hours and then stops because it can not stand available technical support to meet greater demand." Darkfall is a tremendous success by any standard. 1000 copy's are being sold each day, and have been every day for the last 3 months since launch. According to this highly reliable and totally credible indisputable official source Darkfall has sold well over 100,000 copy's already (including preorders). Aventurine are under enormous pressure doing everything they can to deal with this totally unpredictable and incredible demand for this smash hit next generation title that's sending shock waves across the gaming community. This game is not dying it is only getting stronger and stronger every day, and its future is even brighter. The obvious reason for them opening up the shop for longer periods of time now is they have further optimized and improved the server infrastructure to support even more players then the already incredibly impressive and totally unprecedented 10,000 concurrent users they have already shown they are fully capable of flawlessly hosting. Darkfall in its first 3 months is already demonstrating it is a serious contender to all the other so called mainstream games and after the new servers start opening up and the forthcoming USA launch begins Darkfall will truly take its place as one of the largest and most successfull subscription based game of all times. I think its safe to finally say that we indeed are now looking at the long awaited WoW killer in its embryonic stage, I for one am eagerly awaiting the next devastating stage of this games almost unstoppable meteoric rise that I'm sure Tasos is carefully planning even now , these are legendary times and I'm just thankful that Aventurine allowed me to be a part of this momentous event. |

I'm not sure where you are getting your info but I just started playing Friday and the server (there is only one) is far from empty. I play from 6pm to 11pm CST and have to travel 20 minutes away from the newbie towns to find camps that aren't crowded. I understand some people aren't happy with the game (the devs made a niche game for a targeted audience) but posting false information as fact just discredits everything you write. Murashu ~ Shuey |
