Hi all,

New player - I am looking for the best dungeon crawling class - that can play in fairly tight quarters, handle adds - etc and kill fairly difficult mobs.

I was thinking about necro (do they do well in dungeons?) psi or a disciple.

Thoughts?

solo

This is a message to the general populace of MMORPG.com as it is literally a black hole of fun that once you are swallowed up by, it is very hard to escape and makes everything in gaming a little less fun. Best thing you can do is do your own research and stop reading these boards because nothing will ever be good enough and everything will suck always forever if it makes its way into a discussion here.

If solo, Dread Knight.  If you are really good and understand the disciple mechanics, you could get pretty far with a disciple.

Disciple is terrific, but keep in mind. You won't be able to fully solo all dungeons. Psion is fantastic as well. Both are my favourite classes.

REALITY CHECK

Disciple is probably the best class for soloing single hard mobs. I could take on group bosses few levels above myself, and it was easy. Also Feign Death rocks, same as no downtime. But he is vulnerable to packs of weak mobs, since has no crowd control and AOE.

My main is a Psionicist and pretty well equipped from APW, overland raid mobs, BoD, Griffin Quest and a few other ventures.  I thought it would be fun to do a solo dungeon crawl in one of the Temples.  I picked a Temple that my spells and abilities would be most effective in, maybe it was Opu, don't remember.

It took over an hour, but with lull, dot/snare, charm, time-trick, time-stop, simulcalum I was able to fight down to the bottom of the Temple where I finally lost it.  It was fun as hell and a good test of everything a Psi has at their disposal.  I did however, put up a lot of key diplomatic buffs prior to going in, without which, I probably could not have pulled it off.  The selection of gear for something like this is very important.

I'm looking forward to trying the same in Nusibe sometime.

Sorry but i don't agree with you on this, I have both these classes and they are both level 50.Dark Knight is a great soloist especially out of all the defensive fighters, and yes he can take on multiple mobs(as long as they are 3 dots and around his level range) but he cannot out solo a Disciple.

The dread Knight is good for dungeon crawl but he wont get as far as a Disciple in that dungeon. A bear shammy can out solo a Dread Knight in any dundungeon,i know because i also have a level 50 bear shammy(tuurgin).I two box him with my Dread Knight and that's when a Dread Knight becomes a reall dungeon king, when he is duo with a bear shammy.

I have taken on multiple mobs with my disciple and lived plenty of times, you just need to play the class right and use the proper skills. A disciple DOES have a crowd control skill,it's called Paralyzing Touch and it will keep a mob mezzed for 40 secs . I have had 3 mobs on me at once, and i am talking 4 dots.

Feint will activate Paralyzing touch,so many disciples forget they have this skill and it can be used to keep a mob constantly mezz untill you have killed the other mobs with healing youself,it's easy once you know how.

The disciple is solo king in VG,make no mistake, this class rocks.

My disc is 32, so no Paralyzing Touch yet. But I soloed 3 3dots and 2 4dots no problem. Cant challenge 10 2dots though like aoe kiting classes do

I also have a 50 bear shaman and 50DK, and I solo extremly well witht he DK over the shaman. In dungeons my DK can handle 4-6 mobs 4 dots soloing, where as for my shaman I run out of mana. But the point is what dungeon you plan to solo at 50? You've gotten everything and just waiting for new stuff.

Soloing from 1-45 doing dungeons DK's are the best. And will out perform all other classes. Hell I was able to take down 12 monsters 3 dots 1-2 levels above me when I was level 30. Timing is everything. One mistake can lead to your death.
