I've often enjoyed debating this subject with you, Fisher.

I just don't think any MMORPG development studio would follow the same logic as yours.  Exploits are unintended bugs, I don't see how anyone could justify leaving them in unless they didnt really care about the overall quality of the product.

It doesn't matter how much players enjoy exploiting, exploits are something that a certain minority of the playerbase will use, those interested in rewarding gameplay and just having fun may not know about them or might just not want to use them because they don't have any desire to cheat.

Those people are negatively effected by exploits because their achievements through legitimate gameplay are devalued by those that choose to cheat.

Coding exploits into the game seems a very silly thing to do, if I think of all the exploits that have been fixed in SWG over the years being, by your logic, made part of the game world, SWG would be a very daft place indeed.

By using exploits, players are effectively screwing themselves, they don't really have a leg to stand on when the fix comes.

The red sentence above describes very well SOE's (un)ability to handle bug and exploits.

And that’s why the rest of your post fails, it just doesn’t apply to SOE.

SoE are cleaning house on exploits with Game Update 10, two of the most disruptive game exploits have been fixed.

Why wasn't it a priority then?  How long have they been in game?

Always was a priority, just seems to get pushed back in favour of adding content/features, which I can understand.

I guess they eventually realised they couldn't push it back any more.

You are contradicting youself. It was a priority but it got pushed back in favour of something else? Clearly it wasn't a priority then.

This might sound like a good idea now but the overall game will suffer as the sense of community diminishes as this game morphs into an arcade shooter.

There simply needs to be a greater purpose for a GCW then tokens and rewards, and a sense of lose to ensure people are driven to help their side win.

Last I checked in the Star Wars Movies they had mini-battles through-out the series,Battle for Hoth,Battle for Corasant,Battle on Endor,Battles on The Wokie homeworld just to name a few.I always felt BG's would have fit in SWG just fine.I would have liked it better in Pre-Cu form, but this can work. I also read a post further up stating the BG ques were too long and the bg's were buggy,I think you would expect that when it just hit the test center.Instaced zones for pvp in mmo games is a good thing imo, they seem to have less lag than world pvp as well.I like games that have both world and instanced pvp.I just quit playing swg again and had fun for about 6 mos,but even with all these good updates you still have to deal with the NGE interface which is the worst ui ever concieved.I think SWG would do well again id Sony would realize the ui is main reason people do not play for long.  LOL sorry for the huge wall of text that crits for 9999999,but installing UT2004 while I post a bit:)

Respectfully, if you want to liken BG's to the movies can you point out where someone had to wait in que to participate in a fight?

I can honestly understand why people do like BG's, but again I think it diminishes the community. The more areas you have preset for PvP encounters the more likely people will only go to those areas for PvP - kind of like moths to a flame. IMO this reduces the dynamics of a PvP encounter in a "sandbox" world, and discourages non-combat players from getting involved.

Take a look over the official forums, you'll see that pretty much everything is a priority to someone.

It is either a priority...or its not.  I hope you are not trying to shift blame to the players.

Nope, they were there by default when you created a new character, found a few screenshots here.

List of SOE lies
What do Treyarch, EA and SOE all have in common? A habit of ignoring customer feedback and suggestions and their inability to properly beta test their products, resulting in crappy products.

Good to know, but also know that GU10 will bring new bugs and exploits, also the fact that there'll be AFKers in battlefields for that free 2500 or 500 free GCW and tokens, it happens in WoW battlegrounds. Also I wouldn't be surprised if /rename gets exploited in a stupid way, exploiting is a standard in SWG nowadays.

"The Check is in the mail." I'll respect you in the morning." and "Working as Intended"

Hmmm....

That has been SOEs method of handling bugs and exploits going all the way back.......

lol that was pretty funny.

But seriously wasn't the default chat just the general area around you, and you had to modify the channel to access the planet wide chat (or faction chat, ect.)?

Or am I thinking of something completely different?

You had to select the channel you wanted to speak into, like selecting Group Chat or Planet. Spatial was the default. What’s said in Spatial was only seen by players near you.

But any given channel could display chat from other channels. , like Spatial window also displayed what other player was typing in Group Chat, Guild Chat etc... You had the full freedom to configure that yourself. And that includes the user created channels too.
