A friend of mine said Wheel of Time is going to be made into an MMO and EA is part of it. I looked around on the net but didnt see anything about it. Is it true?

It's probably the most obvious IP that has yet to be produced into an MMO

The world is amazing, with plenty of history.  Races and classes are already there.  Even items and instances could be pulled directly from the books.

Could they screw it up?  Of course.  Does that mean they shouldn't try?

Cynical? Me? Never.

EA is the distributor for the all future Red Eagle games.

I don't think I'll be holding my breath for this, although, it would be cool to see it done.

I hope it gets enough funding to be made into an awesome game since I love the books. I also heard they are going to make 3 live action movies in like 2012 :)

Unless the current developer and publisher change I would not hold my breath for this game.  Neither has any experience producing MMO's which everyone knows is a nail in the coffin already.  They are not even known for producing games.

excuse my cynism, but I don't really want to see any more of the great IPs turned into crap diku leveling threadmills anytime soon.

Just for a second think how would you take the Wheel of time world and then turn it into another wow/eq/whatever clone - because that is exactly what they will do - and then as a fan think would you really want that.

They already managed to rape Hyboria .... what is really sad that once you use the IP for something like that, it won't be used for another game in the same genre for quite a while.

I've always been amazed that there's never been a Forgotten Realms IP...that seems like the most obvious IP not produced into an MMO

Before his death, Robert Jordan hand-picked Red Eagle Entertainment.  That actually says a lot for me.  Does that mean that they'll do it justice?  Hardly.  But it says that Rober Jordan believed that they, of all the other options out there, were best suited to carry on the world he created.

The problem with that is it's just a D&D "Mod". :)

Something tells me it'll be  a long time before another developer is willing to attach their name to an online D&D game. (This is, of course, another example of how an IP with limitless potential can be botched)

I wonder if the in-game text will use thousands of words to describe pointless inanimate objects like Jordan?

WoT MMO....3 months of npc dialog to synch up an instance entry, everyone running around as Aes Sedai or those dragon pinned dorks serving Rand.  Raid the Dragon Reborn and the Dark One for PHAT LEWTZ.  sounds pretty true to the novels eh?

I liked the books enough, but omg Jordan was a pain to read, too much Tolkienesque over-verbage (but atleast Tolkien was almost amusing in it).  I quit after path of daggers because it was too mind numbing even tho I read at about 300 Trade Paperback pages an hour.

-A low post count doesn't always mean a dummy account for flaming or fanboi posting, sometimes it just means you don't shoot your mouth off randomly to see the numbers under your name increase........or you only really post after the 2nd case of beer

i wish it was Bioware making this MMO not EA. i really want this one be a story based game and when it comes to story telling  and rpg ,i belive in Bioware more than EA. I know Bioware is workin on ToR ,but when i found out WoT MMO is on its way i wished they werent.

I hope EA will care about the soul of this saga more than its wallet and create something good enough to make us funs of WoT happy.

I honestly dont see what the appeal is with the WOT series... Just another Bland Fantasy series milked for multi-volume profits. I couldn't get through the first book (And i read a LOT)zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I'll only play it if it has a tea drinking game.
