So like, yeah, I love the idea of EVE. I actually love the game itself. I had trialed it off and on for a few years, never sticking around longer than the trial. But then I'd read more about it, give it another go, rinse and repeat. Last time I trialed it (early Jan) I got more into it and subbed. Since then, I've joined EVE-U, attended several classes, participated in fleets during wartime, etc. And I genuinely enjoy the EVE experience, however: I often find myself a little disenchanted with the game as a whole. There doesn't seem to be much to do outside of making ISK. During wartime, yes, there's plenty of PvP action. But it seems to me like the only other 'point' of EVE is the PvP and zone control struggles. Not that that's not cool on its own- it sure as hell is. But when you're not quite ready for 0.0 and don't have much else to do, it gets a little tedious. Don't get me wrong...I play it daily for at least a half-hour at a time. I love the game and I will be subbed for at least the next several months. I just find myself enjoying the idea of EVE more than the actual game itself. And when I do feel that way and perhaps a little bored, I just don't play for awhile. Maybe this might sound stupid, but on at least one occasion when I have considered unsubbing, I didn't; because I am that passionate about EVE's premise. And some part of me feels like I haven't put enough in to the game to really be rewarded. Still one of the best MMO's on the market...it's just that sometimes it gets a little monotonous. the official MMORPG.com deadhead |

I love the concept of EVE too, I'm just in a phase where I want more twitch-based gameplay. If frigate and cruiser class ships had manual steering and attacking without dice-rolls I'd be in heaven. -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

What are some of the things you're into? Politics and diplomacy? Manufacturing and the market? PvE? Team warfare? Post what you like doing and we could probably suggest some avenues for you to explore in EVE. |

My advice is to switch it up, join a Pirate corp or some FW corp. maybe go industrial or train into covert ops. I play with buddies and run Whs and mission plexes when im not scouting for reds in my area. Eve is kinda like a Life simulator in space you do what you want. You said your in Uni, I know for a fact that those guys have been at WAR like 99% of the time in the last four months. Maybe you should go out on your own? move to 0.0? Are you mission running? maybe go after those Fat rats in Null. Im glad that you like Eve but I think you should try to do more, think outside the box a bit. think about what you do in eve in a particular day and try to increase your risk, If you just mission running maybe try to get with people and clear out a WH. If your mining maybe start looking at other ways to mine other then just Roids, mine Ice and Gas also. Maybe work the market, train toward a blockade runner and start building bridges and taking even more risks. I could go on forever man, what you want to do in Eve is up to you. If you dont like the feeling of making isk all the time do something else!

Yeah man, I dig that. I get you. I'm not saying I'm leaving or anything, I just feel like I hit a brick wall sometimes, you know? Yeah, the UNI has been at war very frequently. And there's not always a fleet ready to form up, and we get locked-down, so... But yeah, thanks for the advice. I'd like to leave EU but I don't think I'm ready. Maybe I am, I dunno. I have like...5m SP and can half-competently field a BC. I really don't know what direction I want, though. It's too much. I have alt-itis in like every other game, so for EVE, I feel...like the options are too much sometimes. I'm indecisive to say the least.

I started with caldari playing a mission runner, then corss trained to gallente for Drones and ships like the Brutix. Then I went into small ships like the Ishkur and cov ops like the helios. Hell I even trained into mining and got into a hulk for the hell of it. I have all my skills for a T3 cruiser, I have a Hac that can nearly solo level 5 missions and im even cross training Mini and Amarr. Thig is even after that I still have a 1 year skill train so many more ships to fly and ways to play. I havent really gotten into trading much and blockade running, maybe create a corp and work on putting together a little Expedtion team. Stealth bombers got Revamped I wanted to mess with them also. You say you have altitus? im the same way! best thing about Eve you can do everything with one character! Enjoy man and I hope you find your way. Playing: EvE, Ryzom |

Eve Uni has to stay locked down because you are all new players. You come out and fight only when you have sufficient numbers. It might be time for you to move on. You could ask the corp The Graduates whether you could join them. They started out as a 0.0 branch of Eve Uni, so they are more likely to accept you given your relatively low SP. Personally, I am looking forward to walking in stations - it should offer another dimension to EVE other than war and ISK. |

Frigates might actually play a more stronger role if they could reliably dodge incoming fire I'd love a mix. Been playing x3 reunion alot more then EVE lately and thats what I wish to see in an MMO (the combat system). Perfect mix for me. Can put ship on autopilot and attack enemies or assume the controls and blast'em |

In the future, when the technology is there, it would be excellent to have twitch-based combat for fighters, if they ever introduce them for players. (Until I see it, I don't think Jumpgate will manage it well - we are talking about hundreds of players fighting each other at once). It would be pointless for the larger ships - they turn too slowly. For them, the tactical perspective is better because you have different methods of combat than guns alone (drones, nos, EW, etc), and you have to be tactically aware so you can escape at the right time! |

EVE is slowly getting there with twich-based combat, once walk-in-stations is implemented,it will only be a matter of time till a FPS mini game is introduced and then who knows.Oh yeah an manual control of any ship bigger then a frigate would be anoying and frustrating. |

I agree with you. Walking in stations should be the answer. I remember piloting the larger (slower) ships in the game Elite - it was awful - you were a sitting duck with no idea of the tactical bigger picture. This matters when there is lots of ISK at stake. |

The tech 'might be there' since Darkfall seems to be managing massive twitch combat from what I see in films. I guess thats a twitch based mmo to tie fps junkies over tho.... Yeah bigger ships I'm not sure of haven't pilot a big one in x3 reunion yet. |
