What popularity, it's a blog, it was a blog with genuine, pretty detailed information about a game many didn't get the chance to experience from the begining themselves. The blog's information was popular (esp with the haters afterall it's where they got a lot of their info from) not paragus, he just does a very good job of gathering the info and presenting it well, something which has been hard to come by from the usual sources.

but the entire argument is pritty simple and easy to understand

its not a news article

so it should not ever be under the news section !

if it is going to be under the news section then same rules should apply to him that apply to article writers.

It's a blog, not a news article, a blog, you don't like the game, blogged it yourselves. Don't like the writer, don't read the blog.  Don't like not getting your way, tough.

does mmorpg.com have standards for a "news article"?

MrBloodworth, Supercrap, and nate1980 are exactly right in their assessments of Paragus' blog.  The issue is not that Paragus likes DF, it's that his blog is highlighted above others and passed off as news by this site. 

 

I say this as somone who currently plays Darkfall.  I have for over a month and I beta tested for over 5 weeks.  I like it enough to renew my subscription and keep playing it for now.   There are many issues I have with the game and it is woefully incomplete, but  I still like it, on balance.

 

Although the OP went overboard, and was unnecessarily harsh he was, for the most part, correct.  These blogs about the game are very subjective and MMORPG.com is trying to dress them up as news or reporting about Darkfall.  Don't the schools teach children how to deconstruct writing and identify bias, agenda, and context?

Thanks for proving my point exactly. There is nothing wrong with the content and nothing wrong with the fact that it's a blog. I actually enjoy his blog and pretty much agree with him on all points. The issue is that MMORPG.com is trying to package his BLOG as a news feature or as journalism and not as a blog. Even if they are not doing so explicitly. That is the criticism here.

Then we have idiots saying "Hurf! If you don't like it don't read it!" or "Blurf! It's still in the blog section". If you don't understand the criticism then just keep your mouth shut and move on. No need to make it clear to everyone that you can't understand the subtleties of what is being criticized (and no, I am not talking about the OP, I am only talking about the posts that are critical of how MMORPG.com packages his "feature", not the content of the feature).

You have failed. Most in this thread have failed hard on their face.

hes not on the front page but if u click on the highlighted title hes still there just hiding. And he is still listed as spotlight blogger most likely due to this thread. Its those same reasons why I gave up on this site. They favorite the same bloggers and DF so much it makes me sick.

Honestly, for being a member since 2004 im very surprised you would even say that.  Darkfall has only been really popular and majorly hyped starting in late 2008.  Yes, people knew about the game's development for years, but it wasn't until the final stages that Darkfall created an uproar on this site.

Darkfall is just the same old flavor of the month that we see on a regular basis.  I will say that Darkfall is the most unique game i've seen come out in awhile, due to being developed by an indie Greece company, having very limitied accounts, and having a FFA pvp atmosphere, but it's popularity will eventually pass just like aoc and warhammer did in 2008.

He has a right to post his opinion.

And he clearly puts in a great deal of effort into his blog.  It's not hard to see why MMORPG.COM highlights someone who is willing to devote the time to do that.
