Warhammer is pretty close, though. I was expecting everything good from DAoC and then some. What I got was an extremely castrated and prettier version of DAoC.

Real MMOs let you get real immersed into them, which is good for players as hardcore as me.  But for people who long on for 10 minutes once a month and are like, "WoW is awesome, sometime in my lifetime ill beat this game", you don't get immersion because your RL gets in the way.

SWG when first released was the best game I've EVER played.  Sure other games have better graphics, not as many bugs, but none were just so much FUN as SWG Pre-CU.  

So the worst let down in mmo history was when SOE sucker punched the player base by releasing the CU and then mere months later the horrendous NGE!!!

Easily the two biggest letdowns for me were the failure of Earth And Beyond AND the shelving of Imperator...two excellent alt-earth concept MMO's that never really got off the ground like they should have.

Next hopeful is Earth Eternal

Wow was a let down for me because i was big into warcraft 3. When i got into the wow world i was excited but quickly  felt bored and hated running here and there and lvling on nothing but quests, it just didnt have enough to keep me excited.

They obviously didn't come from real MMORPGs.  They are most likely high school kids, or BNet kiddies.  And it's like they suck and have ADHD so much they cant handle real MMORPGs like EQ.  Like WTF?  WoW is like they give you chain quests for 80 levels.  The ADHD kids were too dumb to find out what content to farm for exp.  

You know when I started WoW, they didn't have a quest system.  My shaman ran all over the world to find the best grind spots.  It required BRAINS, something WoW doesnt require anymore.  But like it kind of sucked because the loot tables of world spawns consist of RUNECLOTH and random drops lol.  Like wtf is that shit?

REAL MMO, like EQ, they put really insane mobs with insane loot tables in the game, and they aren't instanced so there's always competition over who controls the spawns etc.  Little carebear ass bs games like WoW and their kiddy playerbase couldn't hack stuff like that.  

And like, most WoW players wouldnt last more than 1 hour on Sullon, cause they suck & are afraid of challenges.  Even regular EQ was challenging because of the shit that could happen (people train each other on blue servers, etc.)  Seriously.  The point of MMOs is to have an adventure, and you don't get it with hand-holding carebear kiddy MMOs like WoW, where you don't even get a fucking exp penalty for dying.  

Like on the Pvp server I played on, you could kill some newbie in your grind location, and they'll just keep coming back and bothering you.  So most people didn't even PvP on the PvP servers because of their fucking garbage setup where it's like theres no penalty and ADHD noobs keep attacking people.  I'd like to see those bitches come back when they lose 5% exp per death.  WoW kiddies would be stuck at level 1 if such a system were put into their game, or maybe they'd learn to play.  I don't know..

I played EQ from 11th grade to my freshman year in college, so like 2-3 years or something.  I think EQ was the best part of my MMO life so far.  WoW isnt even close, sigh.  

i didnt read all of these but im kinda laughing at all of you that say Vanguard is a failure.....alll it takes is you.....the game is awesome.

20-30 days in game is nothing. Back when I played FFXI when I was in college, I think I had around 200 days of actuall playtime. I still had time to study, go out on sat night and party it up. Did I mention I also graduated. Played FFXI for many years. MMO's IMO are not meant to be like an extended single player games. Where you play for a short time and look for a new MMO.  It seems that the trend now is for the devs to just dish out a glorified single player game and call it an MMO, where people will play it 3-6 months then it falls off the radar, and everyone jumps on the next MMO's bandwagon.

I have kids and a wife and I still found time to play Eve for 30-40 hours a week and still take out the wife and play with the kids at the park and do shit like BBQs in the back yard.

Just a normal incredibly organized guy that doesnt mind sacrificing 2-3 hours sleep a night for a good MMO ( I would Normally get 4+ hours of sleep instead of 7).

MY wife never complained, i;ve been happily married for a long time now.

So cut the wothless basement dweler shit out its not our fault that you guys cant find time to play MMOs more then 3 hours a week.

Did you even play WoW?  Anyone who plays WoW would be critical of them.  They seriously are tards.  And they suck.  

Even in my guild, where we did world firsts, we still had shitty players who fucked up raids a lot.  Like on twin emps, this newbie kept taking agro and wiping us.  Like wtf?  And we were doing world firsts, its not like we were some shitty guild.  We opened up all of those instances for other guilds too.

seriously though, if we were the best, and we had garbage players, it tells you something about the quality of WoW players.  Like, they had to add more levels because you scrubs could even get through BWL and do the 2 hour run to open AQ40.

WoW players just suck man.  I don't know.  Like their end-game content is trivial and for retarded players or something? Thats the only explanation for the triviality of their end-game.  You think good players enjoy shit that isn't impossible?  

I remember in EQ we fought Seru for an hour with like 20 people.  An HOUR straight.  Keeping him positioned correctly, and all the guards being mezzed etc.  If one fuckup happens you wipe and retry.  Where the hell is that in a carebear game like WoW where you can have newb fuckups and still get through shit.

The fact that you can fuck up in WoW just makes raiding really trivial.  It's like you can screw up and still win most of the time because their content was created for retarded players.  Seriously.  I like the enjoyment of killing difficult shit, not some stuff created for horrible high school kid players who can't even beat MC trash. (And yes people were stuck in MC before all the damn nerfs Blizz had to make).

And another thing that pisses me off about Blizzard is, they had to add their shitty arena system and bg system.  But its only there to save bandwidth, and also to give retarded players access to the same gear.  In the beginning, it used to be a huge timesink where garbage PvPers would spend 10-20 hours per day (for months) going after grand marshal titles.  Now anyone can get that kind of gear just by doing shit over and over and racking up honor.  And like you don't even have to progress anymore in WoW, you just go farm idiot retard players in PvP instances and get the same gear as the top guilds in the game.  Then you can farm the same shit despite not being able to beat MC, BWL, AQ, Naxx, Etc.  

And like heroic instances are trivial too, and stupid gear farms basically.  Its like oh the instances reset lets go see if it has loot this time.  It's stupid man.  At least a real MMO has perma-spawned NPCs with guaranteed loot tables and competition over spawns.  In WoW its like such BS and the farms are so damn easy, its pointless.  

The instances and raid content in WOW is so easy, they should just make you talk to an NPC once a week and he gives you random loot from the chosen instance.  I mean, they are free hand-outs.  If you can't beat Naxx, etc. then you really suck.  But it surprises me that a lot of people couldn't even beat pre-nerf instances, like blizz had to put the lvls up to 80 because the players were that bad.  Lol @  that
