I can't report on the population as I'm not playing right now but I know it's vastly improved and is worth a look.

During the winback campaign I managed to get tons of groups for Wardship which is level 30-ish. You can get groups for Hunter's League at 17-23 roughly so the population was pretty high. Not sure how it's doing now, campaign was in January.

I tried out the demo and Ir eally liked it, but I just don't know about buying it, as I don't know anyone, and playing solo makes a game quite unfun for me, as I really enjoy the social aspect of a game.

Levels 1-15 are solo designed.  Afterwhich the game transitions to a group focus and then lastly a raid and after POTA group focus as well.

Yeah you really should try to find a guild.

I was lucky enough to find a very active guild who are really great people!

I'm having a blast!

This is one of the reasons why I quit Vanguard. I joined a guild, and yea they were pretty active, but its kinda funny how they would not choose you to raid with them (they play multiple alts and box) So in a 18 man raid you're pretty much left out because 90% of them boxxed and you end up waiting in the raid zone for them to pick you up which is quite pointless because its not going to happen. So basically I soloed all my guys up to 50 by myself, never needed any groups even for group oriented quests I was able to handle it all by myself because I learned how to play solo very well.

Now, all I do is just wait for their 1 month come back for free thingy every now and then. Usually they do this once a year or when they have a big update. I enjoy the 30 days, but its not enough to keep me playing the game when I have to solo all 30 days.

As much as I like the game, I need to be honest here and say at times it may be hard to find enough people to run group type content at lower levels. I'm a lvl 24 Druid and I have several group quests in my quest log and I've been having a hard time finding people. I'm in a guild, but unfortunately the ones that have been helpful all along have been somewhat absent lately. All I can suggest is find an active and helpful guild for your lower levels and you'll enjoy this game.

Yeah, I have to agree.

I don't understand why people join guilds like this. If a guild picks an alt over a member then that says volumes.

There have to be other guilds out there to join.

How about manifest against that, call those guilds out for what they do, and let them stand for it.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

You bought the limited edition? what's in it? because right now the game Vanguard: SoH is free but there's still a monthly cost.

As regarding to group/solo question, I joined a guild but it didnt really help me soo much. I found a couple of guys and we played for a whole week together doing group quests and dungeons, tho they got tired and quit the game and that set me all alone so I havn't been playing it much since.

I found a nice guy who could answer all my questions and thoughts, really helped me through the time I played, creds to Atwa (paladin).

  (My bird shaman 36.)

As of right now, I'm not sure if I will ever play Vanguard again, maybe if I find another group who wants to play from start or if someone is looking for peeps to join him from the start. I'm from Sweden so I played on the only EU server; Halgarad.

During 20-25 i was leveling with a group of sweden guys on Halgar, did all steps of HL with them. They are great bunch, know each other in RL and use vent. Message: Kristne, Sorlack, Captainjack or Bnard if you find them online. They all should be 30+ now

The only reason you see a lot of solo activity at those lower levels is because VG starts you off pretty easy and grouping really doesn't come into play until 15-20ish. I'm playing an alt Sorcerer and I'll probably solo that until about 15 or so before I switch to grouping. But even at those lower levels, there are still people looking to group just for the social aspect.  Nearly everytime I find a little time to play my alt I get invited to groups.

As someone else mentioned, a good guild that has a bunch of leveling characters is a great way to enjoy grouping.  There seems to be a number of new guilds popping up, some are going directly to raid content with returning players and others are starting at the ground levels and working up together as a guild.

I decided to get the full game last night. I left Isle of Dawn and went to Qalia. There were quite a few people running around and lfg (on the Seradon server), so it wasn't that hard to get a small group going. I'm still only level 10, so that might change later on in the game, but for now I'm not too worried about finding groups.

Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: GW2, ArcheAge

Grouping will never be an issue.  However, sometimes, you will need to be the person to get the group started.  When using the LFG tool, I'll often notice many players, in the same level range looking to do the same area or quest line.... but no one takes the first step to start the group :)

The hardest part IMO is to get people that are on the same step as you on the quest lines. Hunter's League is easy, but some other lines are harder.

Yeah, I have to agree.

I don't understand why people join guilds like this. If a guild picks an alt over a member then that says volumes.

There have to be other guilds out there to join.

That's all just general to MMO's.  Good guilds, bad guilds.  The difference can't always be seen early on.  I know I joined a few guilds over the years and helped build them up just to find, when we "got there" that it'd turned out to be a junk guild where cliques did their own thing or they decided "new rules" were needed once we were starting to succeed.

The "right idea" type approach to situations that can trash a guild too.  Hitting "new content", so you bring a crew along and fail the run.  Next run you bring the same crew along -- why?  They saw what didn't work and leaving someone out when you might finally beat it would "short" them for their hard work PLUS increase your failure chances with "new folks learning it".  Yet if you have others that couldn't go at all due to "filled raid", they get to "sit it out" until your "crew" figures the run out.  This can cause huge amounts of grief and hard feelings, so what's the solution?  Some guilds will rotate folks around for runs, others try and see that those who have been through the learning get in on finally beating the place.  Either approach can (and often will) tick off some folks and cost a guild members.

Which is a "bad" guild?  The one that'd force rotation so a "learning runs" person doesn't get in on the win, or the one that excludes all members except "the crew"?

Tough stuff to look at.

I've also seen where bots were brought instead of players before and understood why.  "lack of healers" is a good one.   I saw this quite a bit in EQ raiding "back in the day" where you'd have like 3-4 bot healers there but the players were playing their regular chars...

Someone brings a healer bot along but plays a DPS class.  Telling them to play that healer so another DPS person could play -- how'd you like to be playing your significant-other's char every raid while your char gets to rot because you CAN bring that healer and the guild needs it?  Then try and explain why  2 chars are run by 1 person  to someone who can't go...  "but they are playing 2 chars!!!"  "need the healer" -- "then let them play their healer so I can go" -- "they don't play a healer, they're just helping out" ?!?!?

That can and does happen in some guilds...
