Unfortunately a new games deal isn't happening. US gaming companies have severed all ties with him a decade ago.
When NCSoft adopted him, it was purely on the basis that MMOs were huge in Korea and Garriott was considered a minor game god over there. After investing a hundred million into TR and the huge embarassment to follow, the Koreans have abandoned him also. He simply has nowhere to go and finding independant investors in the current state of the world economy will be near impossible. Him suing NCSoft over his 20 million is an act of desperation. If he could get another lucrative contract at this point I doubt he would have gone for it.
PS. There seems to be some confusion on this forum about how much Garriott actually contributed to MMOs recently. the recent games he's had a hand in designing are as follows: Ultima Online 1997 The other credits on the list Garriott had no hand in designing. It just so happened that Destination Games, which he funded after UO, developed a full partnership /w NCSoft West, in effect giving him executive status over any NCSoft games released in the US.
PPS. There was this really awesome quote by one of the programmers of TR that went something like this "I had the impression that Richard stopped caring about gaming years ago, he was only in it because of his status in the industry." I'll see if I can dig up a link.
EDIT: Also missed the most obvious point. Origin Systems and Ultima are now owned by Electonic Arts. The only aspect of Ultima that Garriott retained any rights to is the name "Lord British" |

Garriot needs more love and attention on these forums though. After all, the man only made one of the most genius mmorpgs ever to exist. 
Garriot gave birth out of the womb of his work-body to breathe life into his only begotten son, Ultima Online.
