I just bought another account today, actually. I despise the "shop week" horseshit they have going on over there, but I can't control that. You can purchase the game on the dates and times that are listed on the official forums. That's a limited release, or something. I think it's a bad way to do business, but it hardly makes the game a myth, which is what rubbed me the wrong way in the first place.

The business model for DF since release is enough to make you want to rip your own eyes out, but its still there.

Follow this up with general anxiety for the rest of the day, and you can understand why I don't seek conflict or drama. It's not worth the blood pressure.

 

As for your advice - total classic.

I can't believe you are admitting the aggravated assault (at the very least) right here on the forums.  Having refused to leave the premises when asked, the boyfriend had every legal right to punch you in the face.  You then attacked him with a concealed weapon, causing bodily harm. 

Of course I believe none of your story... but if it's true, posting it on the internet may be one of the stupidest things I have seen in a while.

I can't agree with that. I made the post because that's how I felt. Some good came out of this thread - it was explained to me WHY certain people said what they said about Darkfall prior to release, and why that opinion circulated. I learned something, and if no one else did, that's fine.

There is a very good post on here that I don't have the link to that breaks exactly that down. Off the top of my head I can think of things like [insert a lot of skills here], four legged running, learning skills from players, and a lot of NPCs.

The yellow parts are the ones promised the white is how it currently is, it was reposted several times over in the past they added a couple of things like you don't have to constantly click when you harvest but the rest are pretty much like it says in this article, IMO, anyways

I have been watching through the Xfiles box sets from the start the past few months, just in Season 9 at the moment and the opening credits for the show changed up a bit. In one part there is a list that changes every other episode, the list is of names / anagrams and so forth.

I found it funny that the work " Darkfall" was on there for a few :P

The game promised every thing possible and delivered 1/10 of the things that were supposed to be there.

I did not follow nor have I played Darfall.  However, the OP is correct. 

Yes, the game is not exactly what all of you wanted.  No, not all the things they promised were in there.  But, that is not what the OP said.  So please, go back and re-read (that testing skill you learned in school), and stop making excuses.  Stop bitching and saying things like, "the game didn't deliver what they promised, therefore it's vaporware."  No.  That is not correct.  As I understand it, the definition of vaporware is: –noun Computer Slang. a product, esp. software, that is promoted or marketed while it is still in development and that will never be produced.  It says nothing about only delivering half or three quarters of what was promised.  It says that will never be produced.  I believe that is a clear definition.

The OP merely wanted all the people who bashed the hell out of this game to apologize and say, we were wrong.  I personally agree with him.  If you are going to make claims that effect someone else's livelihood (ie. the programmers) then you should apologize.  But, from what I read, those people seem to be too petty.  They want to change the definition or excuse their actions in some way, just because the game didn't live up to their expectations.  Typical, to someone who has hurt feelings because they invested time and hope for this, and were (in their opinion) crapped on.  I understand.  I would feel the same way.  But again, that's not what the OP asked for.  All he asked for was an apology by those who said it was vaporware.  He should get it, even if it is considered petty by many.

Can we go buy the game at a store right now?

Can we purchase it online right now?

No we can't. So technically the game is still in beta. Which as far as I understand it is still the developing phase. Now some players may have been able to buy an invite and are playing now. How ever until the game is released to the public where they can buy the game at any time, not just limited times as it is now. Only then will it not be vaporware.

With that said I have never called it vaporware before, but after your quote I guess it can fit the category.

If the game is not yet released (I don't know as I haven't played it) then you are right.  I stand corrected then.  However, I thought the game was released.

Oh the game was released, it's my understanding that the issue is that content within the game is 'vaporware' or non-existent :)

Game is in a paid beta stage.

After release will no longer be vaporware. Period.

      I dont think you can consider the status of Darkfall as "released"......It is more of a pay to play beta with a few thousand testers allowed rather than an actual launch....If it was a legitimate launch then there would be no restrictions on the number of accounts......
