Think about it, EuroGamer gives the game a 2/10 score in a review, Tasos doesn't live his ickle baby getting such an undeserving low score and continues to berate the reviewer with facts about only being in the game for so many minutes etc. What if EG gave the game a 10/10 score?? do you think Tasos would come out and start shouting how the reviewer had only played for 2 hours? The answer is "No Way" You see, Tasos has tried ever so hard to keep the game open to hardcore fanbois because he knew that they, as fans, would not be objectional towards the game and live with the fact darkfalls gameplay is shot to hell. Ed Zitface is not a fanboi, hes a normal MMORPG player that didnt have that unconditional love for darkfall in the beginning and therfore saw instantly the trainwreck infront of his very eye's. It was gonna happen one day Tasos, there was no way you were gonna hide it forever.

Tasos may not have even flinched at a score of five or four out of 10. |

I think thats a certainty for any game that is being reviewed, depending on whatever score is awarded depends on how it is recieved by the developer, a negative review usually gets ignored,(but not it seems in the case of Tasos) a positive review especially ones from well known sources that also have awards will be displayed with pride on the games main website for all to see.

In the 10 yr old tantrum that he did? Yes he was wrong. It reflects badly on the company moreso than a review of a game that already has a stigma of sucking. |

I don't see the response as being a "10 yr old tantrum", but regardless, the review was a blatant hit piece and the response was, imv, warranted. On the other hand, the review and the reaction may have been a positive as far as visability for the game is concerned, (free marketing). If the next review that comes out contradicts this review, it will be a net plus for Aventurine. We'll see.

I would expect any company to challenge a 2 out of 10 review. To not dispute such a claim would, in essence, mean that the company accepts the decision imparted to them. Perhaps the manner in which Tasos defended himself bothers you, but I find no fault in a company defending themselves from a 3rd party. ----------------------------- |

This. And of course no company would challenge a 10/10, though there'd be no shortage of people who would. The EG review was a poor piece of reporting IMO, regardless whether you hate Tasso/Aventuring or DF.

And a spell checking is missing from others too. That aside, I'm going to clarify my position on this. Tasos used the fact that this reviewer was not ingame long enough to come to a decent enough conclusion to write a well founded writeup about darkfall. My argument is that, how long someone is in game has no bareing what so ever on the quality of it, this is where Tasos crashed an burned. Instead of him countering the points made by the reviewer, he just went in to twat mode. Which brings me to the point I was trying to make in my OP, If the reviewer had spent the exact amount of time in game and liked certain things better and came to a much better conclusion with a higher rating which inturn pleased Tasos then I do not believe for one second that Tasos would call him on the amount of time spent ingame. WHICH COMPLETLY INVALIDATES HIS ARGUMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE. It just shows that Tasos couldn't counter the reviewers points like a mature adult because THERE WAS NO WAY TOO. those points are valid and he knows it. |

Or, instead of calling out the obvious, that being that the reviewer didn't actually, for all intents and purposes, play the game; Tasos simply alluded to this fact through implication by mentioning the time in game actually spent by the reviewer. In other words, Tasos is saying that the reviewer did not, in fact, actually play the game. The review, of course, supports this assertion.

Did I miss a memo here? didn't Tasos say the reviewer was ingame for more that Zero seconds? |

so your saying that a well know game reviewer for Eurogamer would lie and make up a review without playing the game and that Tasos would never lie about the time this said revieweer played the game? Open your damn eyes the review for the most part was spot. Sorry you dished out 50 bucks or 40 euros for this trash but thats your problem. |

You realize that one can say that if someone played an MMO for a couple hours, it is not a significant stretch of semantics to say that the person has not played the game.

What exactly about the review would you say was incorrect, if anything? |

No, I don't realise that at all, in fact, what you said just there is a personal opinion of yours. My opinion is that the reviewer had played the game if not for very long. |

What the real question is, what would Twatos have done if it got 0/10? Has anyone thought that the reviewer was actually being generous towards Aventurine? |

So, what he did was investigated to see how much the guy actually did play the game, and found out it wasn't enough to do a proper review. He then sent this information to EuroGamer (not pubically) and told them to retract it. At which point they refused - despite having been presented with tangible evidence that (both in the review with factual errors and with the game logs) that the reviewer had not done his job correctly. If a reviewer for Car and Driver reviewed the newest Cadillac by going to the showroom, having someone open the trunk, and then walked out and gave it a 2/10 - 1. He'd be fired. 2,.if Car and Driver published the review, you could bet your ass GM would release a statement about it., particualry if they had video tape of the guy just looking in the trunk and then walking out. The unprofessionalism here is 100% Eurogamer's. You have no point of reference to compare Adventurine's response to, because Eurogamer never gave out a 2 before. |
