Before you ask it, my point is getting an answer to my question. What's the point of continuously trashing a game you don't play. I've seen many people do it in these particular forums, and I'm really wondering what their goals and expectations are.

Do they expect that Darkfall fans will just cry out in terror "OH MY GOD! YOU'RE SO RIGHT! I'M SO FAIL! Also, I think you have a really big penis. Really massively immense."

Is their goal to receive a Pulitzer for their posting efforts?

Are they hoping to receive a mail saying "Hi, I'm a really sexy blonde with overly large breasts. I was hoping you would have hot sex with my twin sister, just because I think you're so very smart trashing a worthless game like that."

I'd like to see an honest reply.

Trolls are recognizable by the fact that they have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait.
Trolls rarely answer a direct question - they cannot, if asked to justify their twaddle - so they develop a fine line in missing the point.
Remember that trolls are cowards; they'll usually post just enough to get an argument going, then sit back and count the responses.
(Yes, that's what they do!)

Actually if i took on the moniker of a troll in these forums id do it for couple of reasons (goals)

1. Cause arguments and sit back and watch the thread for amusemant
2. Simply because I can (this is often the case with most fans/trolls as it is)
3. Hope the game fails (im sure lots would like to see that, I dont as I dont want that community invading games I may play)
4. Pushing peoples buttons to see their reactions (goes both ways for fans and trolls)

In all honesty I really dont believe most people are "goal" oriented when they post things that are going to degenerate into an argument or flame war. I mean look at it, most people arnt going to even take the time to outline a goal for a thread other then reason 1  and  4 I listed.  number 2 and 4 are probably the most common though, and number 4 is easily goal oriented  :)

Edit: also on number 3, people can hope all day a game fails however its pretty unlikely that a few people can cause this, now angry devs and angry reviewers on the other hand...

An honest reply: There are trolls who blindly bash on the game for fun, no doubt about that, but some or most of what you call "Trashers" of the game are interested, but arent impressed by the execution or the management, like myself. I will admit that at this point I seriously doubt I will be playing this game, cause it seems beyond saving at this point, but I occasionaly drop by these forums when I wanna depleet my home supply of popcorn.

True, true. But the issue here is that we're talking about an indie game which relies on its mouth-to-mouth publicity as its main marketing tool. People's retardation seems to have real-world consequences this time.

While Im sure bad mouthing is bad publicity for this game, I dont think it has that big of an impact. Dumb trolls stick out like a sore thumb, and are mostly ignored in the grand scheme of things by readers (at least thats how it is for me, I mean how credible can I guy who posts "DF SUKCXS!!" be, when he posts with bad grammar, caps lock and unfounded arguments).

The real bad publicity for this game are:
-DF fanboys as they are the opposite of the dumb trolls (how dumb is the community etc.. etc...)

-People who critic the game constructivly. It is bad publicity to the game, but why is it "people's retardation" thats the cause? Its just an argument as to why the game didint seem good enough for one person. Bad criticism is good for the developpers as they know what people like and dont like, thats assuming they dont live in a box with their ears shut.

Forums should be a place to discuss the good and the bad. If you come here to only read praise threads, then you'll be suprised.

I think you underestimate the "suxxorz" crowd. They affect things like the mmorpg.com score and do things like clutter up this forums section right here with their crap, kinda making people wonder whether there's anything to it. I do realize that this thread is ironic in that context.
