It's pretty sad to watch Tasos and Aventurine spend more time bickering about a review with ad hominem attacks than he or they seem to be spending updating their website and making a compelling case for why their game is worth playing. When you leave the only reliable means of reporting on the state of your game up to third parties (through forums and reviews) then you don't have a lot of ground to stand on when they paint an unflattering picture. You partisan fans...you really need to get on their case to update their site. It's pathetic in its current state. |

Tasos Flambouras is a terrible human being. He lacks integrity, morals, insight, work ethic and isn't creative or knowledgable. He is highly incompetent and most of all a LIER. Coincidentally, He is the laughing stock of the MMORPG industry and he knows it. When backed into the corner, he shown his true colors over and over and what he is all about... illusions! Unfortunatly, he cannot hide behind a NDA now, so his lies and truths are starting to come out. I doubt he will be with Aventuine much longer once the investors find out what a flop this game is and whatever lies they have been told about the "staggard release" and appauling subscription numbers.

Tasos is one professional he did take advice from this person on how to deal with the EG review. One clever man. Watching Fanbois drop their soap in a prison full of desperate men. |

Oddly enough. There was no patch this week: There's no patch this week, we've been working on an important patch for next week. The account management system went through an major overhaul and will be up later today. We might even open up the shop today if everything is ready, either way we'll open up Monday through Thursday next week. We'll announce the times sometime this weekend. Due to the overhaul of the account management system, billing and account management support has been slow the past few days. We appreciate your patience with that, we should catch up with all issues since we'll work through the weekend.' They also only sold accounts one day this week. |

Seconded. It makes you wonder if Tasos would have labelled the Zurogamer review "fraudulent" if it had been a positive one. I wonder if he would have been so quick to suggest that the Eurogamer team should have used more time to get a proper feel for the game. If he doesn't want anyone to have an opinion on the game he produced, then Aventurine probably should not have released it. Face it, Tasos: if it's on the shelf, it's open to scrutiny. Getting all butt-hurt because someone hates it more than the others won't make matters better. If it sucks that bad, fix it so it doesn't suck [as much]! |

The whole Eurogamer ordeal only proves the fact that Tasos loves to feed the trolls.
DF is staying popular because he's keeping the trolls nice and fat |

excuses and excuses, if you screwed up, accept it, work in how to improve your product, and take it like a man!! It is amazing how a MMO developer that can't even update the official website can be so upset about how bad the game was scored. then on the other side you have the fans saying "they are an indie company" blah blah, guess what, as a customer, I give rat ass how big or small the company is as long as they deliver a quality product. . It's about time that someone is showing REAL reviews and not following the hype. If the game doesnt deliver, it doesnt.

Originally posted by Moretrinkets There's also the problem of "indie" automatically being conflated with "cheap", and where it's okay for quality and polish not to exist. The only thing "indie" means is that a publisher is independent of the major game publishers in this industry. It doesn't mean that shoddy workmanship should be excused. If a game is bad, it's bad, regardless of who publishes it. The concept behind Darkfall is sound. There should be at least one viable FFA PvP game with player loot in the genre just to give more choice to the consumer. More choice is a good thing. However, Aventurine has never inspired confidence that they're the developer to bring that one viable game around. I mean, DF has been "live" for months, but there's no physical distribution, limited sales, limited subs, and, based solely on YouTube videos I've seen, looks dated and unpolished. Throw in the decidedly immature and unprofessional ranting by Tasos over a single review, and it only makes things worse for DF. Bad reviews are not new to the games industry and should be shrugged off. Unfair reviews can be contested QUIETLY behind the scenes with the game developers and whoever published it, with retractions and/or apologies possible if the developer ends up being vindicated. There's no need to publicly flame anyone like Tasos did over a lousy score. It just looks bad. |

Tasos is that dodgy car salesman that everyone seems to have heard about... Customer: What's that rattling? Tasos: A feature. Customer: And the rusting on the bonnet and driver-side door? Tasos: Another feature. Customer: Okay, let's see what's under the bonnet... Hey, where's the engine? Tasos: We couldn't put in the engine before the launch date, but I promise it will be there soon. Customer:On second thought, I don't think I want this car anymore. Tasos: Hey, you asked for a car; you're getting a car here, aren't you? I'll tell you what: just give me the money for the car now, and today you can take it from us, but you'll have to bring it in to the garage every day for tune-ups, servicing, and 100-point safety checks. Customer: As tempted as I am, I think I'll just catch the bus to work from now on. Tasos: We offer a bus service too! Customer: Really? Tasos: Yes. I mean, we don't actually have any buses in our fleet at the moment, but as soon as we get some the service will be fully operational! Customer: *Sigh* |

I've got to agree with the OP about the website. I've been keeping an eye on Darkfall for a while and might pick it up in a few months when they've polished the game a bit more and got a few of the bigger issues sorted out but the amateurish website makes them look quite unprofessional. I've been lurking around the forums aswell and I have to say that they need to get the moderation sorted out. Allowing the kind of trolling, bad language and flame-fests they do really makes them look very small time and gives the worst possible impression of the community. Every other gaming company has worked this out, hopefully it's just a matter of time before AV does. Hiring a dedicated Web Designer / Community Manager could do wonders for their image imo. |
