Maplestory was my very first MMO, I started when I was about 9 which was ruffly almost 4 years ago in the beta. At the time I thought this game was amazing, Of course I hadn't played anything else so of course I thought it was amazing. In a way this game is still "amazing" but for me it's more of a nostalgic sort of feeling. I made loads of friends over the years of playing and I had lots of fun.

The Cash shop is, in more ways then one, expensive. 10$'s barely got me a hat, a snow board suit, and a weapon. That was it. Aside from pricey items, the items themselves aren't to bad. Although, if someone where to go and blow 25-50$'s on nexon cash they could level up 2x faster, have 2x better drop rates, and have a huge amount of money.

Fun - 7/10

When I started getting up into the higher levels I found it just insanely hard to level. Everything is very stat heavy (Skill wise and Character wise). A patch that took out the Dice and made it so that there was no way you could screw up your character was very much a needed thing. My first character made it to level 7 where I had every stat added evenly, which in this game is very bad :s. Besides the hard leveling, I spent most of my time talking to other people anyway so that was probably the main cause of my slow level rate. Quests are kinda bland, and Party Quests get old, but leveling with a friend is loads of fun. Boss runs later on and Guild Party Quests are awesome too. Character Classes are nicely balanced, and bosses are fun to fight.

Community - 4/10

This game is plagued with assholes that think there better then you because they have money to blow on an MMO. There's the occasional nice friendly person (I found multiple people), but that's kinda rare. Also, this game is a pretty big taco fest.. (a lot of "women", I think). I didn't like most of the people I played with, but I had enough friends to keep me playing.

Graphics - 7/10

Sometimes the graphics look a little pixelated but other times they look very well put together and nicely detailed. For a 2D side scroller I think the graphics are quite nice, others I've seen take a short glance and think "Ew, 2D side scroller?". Honestly that's not very fair, this game has nice graphics and I tell you, check it out for yourself.

Sound - 8/10

I loved the BGM in Maplestory, 90% of the maps I went to had amazing music the really went with the mood of the map. There was the rare occasion where I'd find a map with weird/bad BGM but again that was kinda rare.

Performance/Lag - 9/10

The specs required to run this game are really low. And the lag is very little. On my older computer *about 7 years* I did have lag in higher level boss stages like Zakum, but it only lagged in the beginning when everyone was getting in and attacking. I don't really run into a situation where the servers are down when I want to play either.

Costumer Service - 1/10

Bleh. I've seen a Gm once in my entire time playing and he was a total dick. I tried to contact Nexon about a bug I found, but it was never replied to.

Value - 7/10

For a free game, you can't really go wrong with this one. Compared to other Nexon Games this one is the best. Mabinogi, Sugar Rush, Combat Arms *shivers*, they really aren't that amazing. Sure the Cash shop is overpriced at times and the community could be better. But for a free game where you have access to get everything, this game ain't half bad.

From my review this game averages to a 5.5, but I feel a 7 is more appropriate rating.

I have never played Maplestory so I can't really comment on the accuracy of your review.  I would like to say however that for someone that is 13, this is a really well written review.  Kudos to you for the thought that you put into it.

I played the game for a little over a year ( year ago ), and I would agree with most of it.

I am not saying this to defend anyone, but did it ever cross your mind that a lot of people online does not have english as their native language? Furthermore, I would be shocked if a 13 year old could not write well - at least by the standard in my country.
