In Vanguard, 3 out of 4 healers have CC:

Cleric: Lull (mob ignores if you hit their allies, also lowers aggro range), Root (instant and no recast timer if Peace Cleric), Fear and Snare (only if Death Cleric)

Shaman: Root

Disciple: ? nothing I think

Blood Mage: Root, Charm

I hated how I was killed even by gray mobs (that no longer would give xp) on my Shillien Elder in Lineage 2.

Made you totally dependent upon getting a group for ANY progress.

And now try to get a group that was up for doing anything YOU wanted to do.

I really prefer being able to solo a lot.

all of you seem to be set on one out of a few games.

But I must say, and smite me down with trollingz if this doesn't count

but eve online logistics = win.

Screw mystical blue clouds that restore health points.

Drones with repair tools working on the hull of the closest battleship has got to be the most exciting fun way to "Heal" in any game.

I was soloing my SE all the way up into the 60's before the nerf. Of course it meant you had to have 2 sets of gear. Robes and a staff for groups... Light armor and good duals for soloing. It was expensive but more than doable.

This is only a problem for non-healers. For healers this is wonderful.

Empathy healer in city of heroes. And let me explain why it's so addicting...

When you choose a class, you get a primary and a secondary power set. To be a healer in CoH, you can be one of two classes. A Defender or a Controller. And here are the differences in a nutshell...

As a Defender, you can choose your  primary power to be a healer. Your secondary is damage dealing. There are many ways to deal damage. Fire, ice, dark, energy, psychic, assault weapons, etc etc. But since your primary is a healer, you'll be able to heal a lot more.

As a controller, your secondary can be a healer and you won't be able to heal as strongly as a defender but that doesn't matter because your primary is something awesome. Like for example, you can create a controller that uses the primary powers of Illusion. You can summon illusions that will take most of the damage from a mob of monsters while your teammates dish out damage and you can then heal your teammates. You can't heal the illusions because that's just how it is lol. But it's so awesome and without going into much detail, you just just gotta try it out for yourself. It's well worth it! Trust me! The game blows away WoW on so many levels. It's a very high action type of game that will get your adrenaline going! And the graphics are high quality if you got a nice rig.

The only time you run out of chances is when you stop taking them.

None.  Games should not have a healing class as they are an unnecessary class, and detremental to grouping online as a whole.

That would be like saying "The world should not have doctors and nurses. We should just kill all the sick people."

Just because you don't enjoy the role of healing people, doesn't mean it should not be in MMORPG's...

Ya, that's right. There is a big letter 'R' in MMORPG that means "Role" playing. Something you totally forgot about and no longer care about...

AC2..Greatest game ever to be closed. They did it dirty.

Haven't found a healer class that i would want to play.  For one I like healing when I get it in a game. Not to found of following someone else around to just heal them. I notice that a lot of people pick healing classes just to feel needed and/or  to get better loot in a grp or guild. the easist way to catch up is to be a healing bot for someone else. Especially if you start late to an mmo,

How many delicate flowers have you met in Counterstrike?

Or maybe because I think that games should not be about "just" combat, and that having things other than combat would give a reason for warriors to exist besides being a moving rock that has unlimited hit points due to a healbot.

Sorry, the "role" of "healing classes" is absolutely pointless in the game, and unnecessary as all of our roles are combat oriented.  Until MMOs lose that basis, they will never truely be online worlds.

Doctors and Nurses don't need to be in combat in order to use their skills...

The empathy defender in CoH was my first 50 in the game.  I loved playing them.  I could do damage and heal, was great.  I also like the minstrel class in LotRO.  It's a fun lil healer to play.  The varied instruments you can choose from is a fun element to add, as well.  Each instrument also has it's own animations.  Nice touch.

hands down from where it started DND cleric  no other healer shows as much healing power , utility or undead damge.

A dnd cleric wave of hes hand make undead just go poof ,  a dnd cleric can command monsters to fall down.

EQ cleric is only thing that has come close with all there healing powers and turn undead abilitys also there powerful melee abilitys , if you havent played in awhile they can crit 4k melee with there new proc spell they were given few years ago.

eq2 & wow are just wack a mole .

warhammer  half the healers feel more like dps that could heal than rather pure healers.

diablo healing pots ftw?

Empathy/Dark Defender in CoH -- My first level 50, she played almost exactly like my Druid in EQ. Buffs, heals, some crowd control...oh, how I loved playing her. And the secondary Dark powers have an Accuracy debuff, so not only could I buff and heal, but I'd make my own job that much easier by making mobs hit less.

Kinetics/Radiation Defender in CoH -- My second level 50, she might have been a Defender, but it was a whole different game. Kinetics buffs and heals your allies at the expense of your enemies. For example, Transfusion, which is the heal, has to be cast off a mob, and it drains some of their endurance and lowers their regen rate, then heals everyone in your group who's standing next to that mob. It didn't heal anywhere close to Empathy, but I managed to play fairly often as the sole healer in a team and had a pretty good record of people not dying on my watch.

Transference, which is an Endurance Drain, also stole endurance  (CoH's version of mana) from an enemy and gave it to you and whatever allies are nearby that mob. It could change the tide of a fight, epsecially against Archvillain mobs,  because, slotted properly, you could steal all of an enemy's endurance preventing them from casting anything, and then give that endurance to your team so they could keep fighting longer. It was super useful after a Blaster unleashed their big AoE attacks, which drained all of their endurance. Transference could get them back into the fray that much faster.

The big kahuna of the powerset, however, was definitely Fulcrum Shift. It drained the power of a targeted mob and all other mobs near them, then transferred it to any players in the area whether they were in your group or not, which was especially useful in large groups while fighting lots of mobs, or during live events, or when fighting giant monsters. Any mob hit by Fulcrum Shift will deal less damage, while everyone hit by it will do more, and the more foes that you hit with the spell, the stronger you and your allies get. It wasn't an automatic "I Win!" button, but it helped a lot, IMO.

Warrior Priest in WAR -- God, I loved this class. I'd still be playing her, too, if the game hadn't gotten so damn repetetive. I loved being able to beat people upside the head with a huge hammer and heal myself or whoever I had targeted in the process.
