the only good  f2p mmo i have ever seen is dungeon runners

2nd to that would be rohan .

3rd on the list maybe rappels

after that i can't really think of any other f2p mmos out there thats worth the time to download, worth the time to make an account

and just play.

i have tried to download runes of magic but had problems with it and , that was enough to make me say screw that game.

For fast PvP action, I play Combat Arms.

For PvE and a fun chatty community, I play Florensia.

For goofy hack-n-slash fun, Dungeon Runners is my thing.

Requiem: Bloodymare is by far the best FTP game if you enjoy dungeons, unique features and atmosphere.

Atlantica online is also good and original in some aspects.

RoM is one of the most goofy, cheesy and unoriginal games I've played, if you enjoy immersion, atmosphere and Lore, RoM is not a good choice. In my opinion RoM got the worst from Guild Wars (great game) and WoW, mixed it in a really shallow and uninsteresting game universe. But I understand a lot of people like it.

"Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers.

Runes of Magic was relatively fun.  It's complete garbage, but it's the only F2P MMO I enjoyed for more than a day.

I would suggest checking out Regnum online.its done by some indie developer in Argentina and is very well made. It is a lot like DOAC and has awesome quality pvp end game. There is an item mall but you dont have to buy anything from it. Nothing they sell can improve your character in pvp its just things like mounts, dyes and XP boosts. Itspretty damn good. check  itout.

Free Realms isn't F2P.  It's a "freemium" game with a hybrid  partly free/subscrption+cash shop model.  It's definitely a fun game and you can play a good chunk of it for free, but you can't play all of it for free (many quests and some classes are locked out), unlike other games.

Regarding my personal F2P favorites, I like the following, each because they specialize in something a little different:

  1. Dungeon Runners - not really a MMO, though.  Even the lead dev refers to it as "MMO-lite".  It's a relatively simple Diablo clone that's pretty much straight up dungeon crawling and quest grinding.  I like to think of it as Diablo's smartass stepchild who grew up disgruntled and staged a coup.  What other game has quest chains designed around finding WMDs, makes fun of the Rosie O'Donnell/Donald Trump feud, skewers American Idol and lets you kill a mob named Sanjyna?  The quests descriptions are great! Dungeon Runners is designed to play in small bursts and around casual play.  Contrary to popular belief, it's possible to play the entire game, start-to-finish (all levels from 1 - 100, all dungeons and all quests), entirely for free. There are member and non-member versions of every single piece of gear in the game, but non-member pieces have a much lower chance of dropping.  Membership simply grants convenience (more bank pages, bigger stacks of potions, 100% chance to use every item that drops instead of the scaling percent for non-members, 15% more experience, etc...).  The only exception to this is that member potions heal for 10% more.
  2. Runes of Magic - whether or not Cash Shop items are required is up to debate, but I'm not level 20/20 (out of 50/50) and I've yet to spend a dime.  Personally, I think it comes down to a combination of how impatient or inconvenienced a player is and whether or not they PVP.  Case in point, there's a post on the RoM forum that states there are hardly any players reaching 50/50 right now without spending money.  Hello?  The game hasn't even been out for two months yet and people are complaining they can't reach end level fast enough without spending money or that those who have reached end game this early had to spend money to do so?  Regardless, you can actually play through every level, quest, instance and fight every monster for free.  None of the playable content is locked from free players.  What's great about RoM is that it has a variety of nice features borrowed from other games, like: dual classes, public quests, housing, etc..  The combination of these features in a nice package is what makes it stand out as more than just a "WoW clone". All that being said, Runes of Magic is still very new and while pretty solid, still has a way to go to really compete with P2P games.  I think it'll get there, but it's not necessarily there yet.
  3. Atlantica Online - another solid F2P with a twist - turn-based combat.  Once again, this is a game where cash-shop item requirements are  up to debate, but you aren't locked out of any playable content if you don't buy items.  There's no "newbie island" you're limited to if you don't pay.

Guild Wars isn't F2P.  You had to buy it.  On top of that, if you paid full retail for it at launch and paid full retail for each of the episodes and the expansion pack, then you've paid a pretty penny for it.  That being said, if you pick up the Trilogy and Expansion pack today, then you're getting a really good deal, but you'll still shell out money for it.

Personally, I consider a true F2P to be one that lets you download and play completely for free, from start-to-finish.  You can choose to pay for a subscription or cash shop items, but don't have to do so in order to unlock playable content.

I would go for Atlantica Online (since I play it a lot. Too much. Way too much.)

Different sort of gameplay, at least the combat system. Turn based, a graphical representation of the old school Wizardry/Bard's Tale sort of combat. But requires a lot of thinking, good monster variety, different ones require different tactics.

Got a lot of quests, I would guess close to 2000 (which is very good for a free game that's only been out a year). Decent variety, though mostly kill x and fedex. But most are pretty short, you can do in half hour or so.

Fairly friendly and talkative community. Grouping is pretty common, even with strangers.

Reasonably quick updates (lagging behind the Korean one by about a month or two), and generally when there is an exploit, they are very quick to fix it.

At 95th level, it does start taking a lot of experience to advance, but you get big rewards for the first 3 quests you do and the first two PvP tournament fights you do per day, so you'll always make a level in 20 days, probably just playing an hour a day.

On the other hand, if you like exploration or raiding, then it's probably not for you. (It's got a big map, but you are mostly on rails, sort of. And no real raids, since combat is totally different from other MMORPGs, but you have special instanced dungeons that take its place)
