Reguardless of my objections or issues with the game this is something I completely agree with. Spellborn has had a fantastic launch and a really great trial policy!! Something that is a first in the industry and something I hope future game companies replicate. Reguardless of if I actually like the game I'll probably pay them for a month just because of the great launch and very fair trial policy to say thank you!!

Incredible game. A real breath of fresh air in this world of many similiar MMOs. |

I agree that the sales plan they have used is the most open and generous I have ever seen from launch for an mmorpg. If more games had been brave enough to copy this model in the past (AoC, WAR, whatever) I would have been saved some money. SB hasnt hidden behind hype and marketing though. It has offered it's self honestly, warts and all, to the consumer and said 'this game won't be for everyone, so make you own mind up'. EVERYONE should be pushing for this sales model to become industry standard for P2P mmorpgs, even if they hate the game for whatever reason. Personally, I am proud to be supporting an indie dev that actually cares about it's product and is committed to supporting it 100% from here on in. If the game isnt perfect now, and it isnt, it is definitly good enough to deserve a decent player base until it does. Even when I take a break from playing, and I will when I get to 50, I will keep my sub live because I believe that change for the genre will only come from niche indie gaming with fresh ideas and takes on the hobby, and the only support we can give them that really matters is money. |
