NCsoft has announced that their entire selection of MMOs is now available on Steam, including City of Heroes, both Lineage games, Guild Wars, and Aion when it launches in North America and Europe.

NCsoft ®, the world's premier publisher and developer of massively multiplayer online games (MMOs), and Valve Corporation, a developer of leading-edge technologies software, today announced that NCsoft's award-winning catalog of MMO franchises is now available via Steam, a leading platform for the distribution and management of PC games with over 20 million users worldwide.

Beginning today, players may purchase the latest offerings for the City of Heroes®, Guild Wars®, and Lineage® franchises via Steam. This includes the just-released City of Heroes Architect Edition, making City of Heroes the first and only MMO that gives players the power to create their own unique story arcs and missions. NCsoft will also deliver its highly anticipated MMO, Aion™, on the Steam platform when it launches this fall in North America and Europe. Once players purchase their favorite NCsoft games through Steam, they can then sign in from any PC to play.

"NCsoft's leading-edge MMOs are an incredible addition to the Steam library of games," said Jason Holtman, director of business development at Valve. "NCsoft is a clear leader in the MMO industry, and we believe our player community will be very excited to have access to the diverse catalog NCsoft has to offer our members."

Doesn't Ryzom have a player-based creation facility? (Ryzom Ring)

Guess you're not the first, NCSoft.

I was told they do now.  they didnt when I was playing.  I do know COH/V  tools for making missions down to the most detailed mobs is the most incredible tool I have ever seen.   The missions players are creating with them are better than the developers of a lot of the most popular mmo's out today.   Unbelievable whats out there now.

I wonder how this was determined.

Gotta be self proclaimed.

(And people who developed or played Tabula Rasa and Auto Assault were not consulted before that proclaimation.)

Every dev says they are the world's finest in their respective industry. To say otherwise would just be bad marketing. Would you have much confidence in a label that Said "NCSoft, not the world's best mmo publisher but almost just as good"

Thats funny, i dislike steam. I played counter-strike and a bunch of the half-life mods before steam came along and messed them up. I hope it doesnt do the same for these mmos.

I think this is a brilliant move. Steam has a huge user base, and keeps growing. NCSoft are a freakishly huge MMO publisher. It's really a good match for them both.

About Steam 'messing up' games, I have very much the opposite experience. Because of Steam, I have Mass Effect on the PC without the SecuROM virus on it. I've been able to easily buy an ancient game like X-Com Terror From The Deep - a game I'd otherwise have to play in a pirated version on a DOS emulator like DOSBox. And I didn't have to go to any shop or wait for a slow mail-sent CD to play - just download it (which with broadband internet really doesn't take long) and there you go.

I think this bodes very well for both Valve and NCSoft.

Actually, a lot of them just say 'a leading whatsit' and that won't make me point at them and laugh.  This does, though.

That's funny. Steam is the single best piece of software I have installed right now.

Have you even tried it within the last two years? Probably not. You're another one of those 'tried it one time; bash it forever' type of people.

Steam is great! Yeah it had some issues before but now its working very well and i havent had any problems with it. And its also good for the planet, no boxes made of plastic. So i will download Aion from steam and even global agenda are there so its fast and easy and good for the planet so what more can you ask for:)

I'm a long-time CoX player. I plan on loading it to my laptop soon as I expect my desktop to go boom at any time. Would y'all recommend loading the game directly or playing it through Steam?

The less you expect, the more you'll be surprised. Hopefully, pleasantly so.

From CS:S to Eve Online It just makes my life so much easier.
