They say that you would have to spend about 2Billion gold to be able to get these mercenaries. I wonder how long would it take you to be able to acquire it manually, not buying items from the market.

I already started with the spartan quest. It only has 4 tasks but the first one I'm currently at requires me to give an Old Spartan Shield which is about 360 million gold in Rome Bazaar. I thought the Spartan Quest would take really long to do but if you have the gold it would just take you 10 minutes to buy the items.

Which means what?  The game is baiting you to buy gold thru them.  No thx, I will automatically unsub.

That is why I never dab in F2P games any more.  I know they need to make a living, but the way they make a living makes the game kinda uncomfortable to me.  Your views may differ.

If you go the buying route yes its expensive. Many players wait and try their hand at Nation dungeons for some of the parts. (My nation has a list going based on several things, level definately being one of them) About 15-20 in nation have spartans out of about 400 people. Most arnt even close to getting the quest though. One of the more popular methods people use that ive seen is to solo farm Independant dungeons.

It might be such a pain in the a** but i think its really worth it to have these mercenaries specially that you can use their skills in pvp battles like the warcry skill of the spartan and the blood vengeance skill of the pirate. These are pretty strong skills that could help you take your opponents down. :D

Don't forget the skill books. The Spartan skill books are insanely expensive.

Still, bear in mind, these mercs were meant to be sort of exclusive, for players who are good and can do the high level guild/nation dungeons.

Why games do this sort of thing, I don't know, but in the somewhat similar Sword of the New World (at least similar in how you have lots of classes), several of them are exclusive or extremely hard to get.

At least they aren't selling classes straight from the cash shop, like that game.

why should you buy if you can get it by getting the quest.

Because vonkeitz it would take you longer to get the mercenary if you do it manually and not buy the requirements. When the time comes that you get the item requirements then sell it in the market so you can cover the former expenses. Besides the inflation rate in Atlantica Online is very high the item worth 100m today could be 200m after a month.

Pirate is overpriced imho, but spartan isn't.  Pirate is fairly weak if you ask me, I guess I don't have a spot for her in my formation I want, so I'm biased lol.  Blood vengance is the only good thing about having a pirate.  Spartan on the other hand, I would've gladly paid 50 billion for him lol...oh wait with warcry books I might have lol.  Spartan is an awesome mercenary, he can take a ton of damage, and has really good damage himself.  Pirate on the other hand is like a glass cannon, she gets hit 2-3 times and she's dead, but she'll 1-2 hit kill monsters at 120.

even i complain at times why its difficult getting these mercenaries. but think about it, if it wasnt that hard to get these, then how would this be "exclusive" mercenaries...if it was easy like the beast trainer quest, then everyone would have a spartan in their lineups(which bums me out, i like to have my own lineup). keep in mind that for some reason, they made it difficult to make it rare, thus expensive. the question is, is it worth the money or time spent in acquiring these mercenaries?

Yeah, but it seems like everyone does have a spartan. I do FL a lot, and now that I'm division 6, seems like everyone over 100 has a Spartan. (Pirates are much rarer and I've never run into an Elementalist).

And the level 100s+ in Div 6 are the ones that are bad at FL!

Of course, you run into a lot of CS users in FL, too. I'm about the only one that has a plain mount. I know you can make pretty decent money in FL, but only about 4-5 million a tournament at my Division. At that rate, it would take 30-50 tournaments to buy a mount better than a Hackney. (they go for like 150 million up)

Ive never run into an elementalist, however just recently they fixed the quest as it couldnt be finished. On Macedon last I checked only about 20 people have one. 1 of those is a guild officer in my guild, pvp'd against him, elementalists hurt >_<.

Have to agree with some posts above, Pirate and Spartan are exclusive to a degree and I actually dont mind it that way.  Tho im way down on the list to get one :)

hey guys have you notice the changes in free league and also the new features in AO?

now they are giving 3 guild points in every winning battles in free league and 1 guild points if you lose~ but the great thing that happen is the loots and exp now in free league are quite amusing and after battling ten times in a row you can also receive a proximo supply box!!
but i think fighting the dopple are not counted>>

I spent around 1.8 bil when you add up the cost of upgrading my pirate and i don't even use her 8( Although her damage is a lot better now after the patch, BV disables her for too long much like meteor does for witch. Sure, BV does a ton of dmg, but it deals about the same as 2 LS except a LK can actually take a hit.

so it is hard to have a spartan and pirate?!

Those two are really expensive but is it really helpful? because i think Elementalist are far more important and useful in the line up... 

From what ive observed in pvp, seems the elementalist has done much better in builds then having spartan or pirate. Still so few have them, but they do some serious damage. Most of the spartan users ive seen on macedon have 2 or more spears in their builds for AP control mostly. And usually they win if they get their turns done well. Id rather have an elementalist then a pirate though. Spartans are ok if you are going to replace a spearman (my main is a bow type)
