I agree, and any competent developer knows when realism should be sacrificed for fun.  But then why are there several features of DF that fall into the "not fun" at worst or "ackward" at best category (like how looting works or switching weapons and attacks works for example) and the primary argument in favor of how those features are implemented is that they are "realistic"?

I don't think the DF devs spend much time considering the trade offs between realism and fun when they make design decisions.  Heck, I'm not sure they spend time considering anything they do before they just slam it out there.

my EVE account is still active though i haven't played for weeks.

the choice of ships/mods versus Darkfall's gearing up is more strategic yes, but group and terrain tactics are much much better in Darkfall versus EVE's fleet fights... eve fleet fights can be really long and somewhat boring since it really only comes down to focus fire, a good FC, and "primary == Xxx, secondary == Yyyy". DF's combat is much more fast-paced and involving.

like i said, having played both, i just feel that eve's is more strategic. Though i should clarify. I haven't played the naval portion of DF, but comparing it to the ground pvp, which i found very simplistic in DF. But again, personal opinions.

I think we found the first thing AV don't need to fix. How promising they can start on everything else maybe tomorrow after tea time maybe ?

Seriously guys not going to buy the game because one sodding feature was implemented (well ? ) out of the loads STILL on there website which still has some many missing things 2 months after release... Grrrr !

well, to be fair, the website has been out of date for over 3 years at least, and anyone who knows anything about Darkfall knows that the developer journals that were released every 2 weeks for the past 3 years are the only real sources of DF game info.

 

judged against the dev journals, the number of missing things is tiny, just 4-legged mahirrim running, weather was taken out in beta, some other newstuff was added (lik rivers/streams washing you downstream).
