I'm waiting on Jumpgate Evolution.

While I wait I had thought about resubbing to AoC and I was curious...would I be utterly alone playing through Tortage and the lvl 30, 40, 50, etc level content?

I know in WoW right now, if you make a new character on most servers you get to experience the newby lands completely alone. This is about as much fun as watching paint dry. I like the MMO aspect of MMORPGs and was wondering what the lower level areas are like and if anyone has a good suggestion for a well populated server and or Guild that is open to a newby.

I haven't played since about 2 months after release. Everything that has been changed or upgraded since then will be new for me. I also have a smoking new rig that I'm anxious to push the limits on so I'll be drooling at the DX10 eye candy a lot for my first few hours/days/whatever.

BS  I was in the beta till launch and chose to wait because it wasn't ready. Bought it 3 weeks ago and there are plenty of people on, not like the launch I'm sure, but I'm never alone.

Thank you Sigifrith.  I am going to be playing on one of the North American servers.  I know the EU servers have a good population but I'm concerned with the NA servers.

I've only played on Cimmeria rp-pvp...NA. That's what I base my opnion on.

there are plenty of people on.  i have been playing the trial and i spent over 3 hours trying to get to a destination of a quest and couldnt cause i kept dying in pvp.   i  sub to WAR right now too and i thought there were more people in AOC than in WAR but i know right now there is the trial in AOC too but a lot of people said they are going to sub to it.  look at the previous poll on here about it.  but it is far from a ghosttown and i have been playing on Tyranny and Set for what its worth

I have to agree that Cimmeria, Set, Wiccana and Tyranny are all suffering from very healthy populations!

EU servers need some new blood. Especially outside weekend peak hours. It's a lonely world sometimes.

On Cimmeria...I can't walk through Tesso without a sword coming my way or a spell hurling at my head.

I swear...I've been ganked more IN Tesso than I have OUT of Tesso.

SET server for PvE. We have recently added more than 150+ players, so lots of new blood there.

One guild out of how many on one server and since the trial and Xfire scheduling has begun, we gained 150+ players, and that is bad ...how?

What about the 19'000 player profiles submitted for that server so far that are all active?

Huh i play now on Fury PVP server, and population in here seems to be healthy..

When i do some quests here a lot of ppl going through these locations around lvl 40 ....

Yea Fury is well populated with some15'000 characters (PLUS all the ones not uploaded) made on the servers, around 3400 at level 80 and quite a few hundred running around level 40. The facts speak for themselves which is more than the 'guestimations' of some.

Tyranny is packed I am currently playing so what would I know except im in a guild of 300 people and the server is very busy. I am not going to start believing my server is a ghost town.....because the server I am playing on wont let me there is tons of people....

Don't undertsand the above poster who seems hellbent on bashing AOC this week...

I, too, have just returned to AoC last week after quitting, running from the game, screaming, when closed beta ended in June of last year.  With the boxed game I purchased (paid $5) from a friend who quit shortly after the game released, I activated an account with a 3 month subscription.  I opted to try a PvE server to start (Set) since I have a friend there who also resubscribed and some other kinship (guild) mates from LotRO who also expressed interest in coming back to AoC to play on Set.  I'm still in Tortage with my Assassin at this point, so it's really too early to tell, but so far there's a lot of players running around and the world chat channel is quite active.

I've been following the game's progress since the end of closed beta and I've been very impressed with Craig Morrison and his team and the work they've done to slowly bring the potential of Age of Conan to fruition.   I'm most concerned with the relative dearth of content for the mid-levels, but we'll see how it goes.

This is your proof? Number of characters made on a server?

Hard evidence as it comes directly from players who have a choice to 'opt' for it in game. Far better than some crystal ball theory. Also anyone reading around can also see there are far more "I don't know what your talking about my server seems to have a decent healthy population" posts than otherwise. No one is denying there are servers out there with Crap populations, the majority are decent and a simple log in at regular times is proof enough.

When you 65k trial downloads "verified" and others from un-published sources over the past couple weeks there could potential be 80k new people floating around. Population is not an issue.

I recently resubbed, I was a beta player and one of the more pissed off launch players because of how funcom treated us and "bait & switched" us.

I must applaud the AoC team on a great job they have done with this game. It is almost like night a day (eventhough my toon was nerfed to death). The game runs even smoother, looks as amazing, if not better, than i remember. I am still not a fan of instanced games so I will probably not stay subbed for long, but it is a nice alternative every now & then. Instanced mmos kill my experience, it isn't for everyone, but for those who enjoy it its pretty cool as it allows better graphics and gameplay options.
