I used to be a hardcore MMO player but as I get older I find it a struggle to log in more then 5 hours a week. I used to put in enough game time hours for a active 0.0 defense, Enough hours to actually help buddies when they needed me. Now I sit docked in a station, In a NPC corp with my finger over the cancel button not knowing what I could do to actually feel like im apart of the game world I basically fell in love with over the last year. I can fly a AF, a HAC and even have the skills to fly around in a T3 cruiser yet I dont have the time to actively Pirate with players (playtime is random). Even grinding out standing is tough I just dont have the gametime hours to get anything done. I'm subbed to two MMOs both I rarely play while I play WAR i usually put 2-3 hours a week running SCs(this is fine since the game is as deep as a puddle) but in Eve im struggling. So many things to do in Eve but with my playtime I find it hard to even get into anything anymore. Maybe you guys could push me in the right direction, Maybe someone on the forums plays as little as I do and can still get an enjoyable experience out of the game. I don't know.... maybe some tips would be cool. I don't want to unsub but what choice do I have?

Thats the downside to EVE to do anything fun you need the time to get in position and camp or raid or whatever and basically its like any otehr MMO you need a group. :( No really. |

I have no problems with fleeting up. hell you could ask my ingame buddies im the first person to say "hey who wants to fleet up and kick ass" within mear seconds of logging in. My problem is my inability to play to a schedule and my availability to my old corpmates to be there for them when they need me. Edit: Eve isn't your run of the mill MMO. this game is a sandbox, its a alternate life simulator haha. In good corps people rely on you and you have a responsibility Eve is basically a mini life that exists within a Real life haha. That's why we play this game, the shit feels real, the conflicts mean something. when you lose everything you have and are forced to abandon everything and start over it hurts and brings you and ur corpmates together almost like a cyber family. I can't get that in any other mmo. Now that i dont have the time to experience the best parts of Eve the way I want im struggling.

Not quite sure what you are looking for .... but if i am reading correctly....you are trying to find a place you belong in? and find a role in game? Well what do you enjoy doing?
Disclaimer - yes this is prolly a recruit thread....but giving examples of what something like this can do for ya If you want to give the game a try with a player corp....click my links below and just hollar at me in game (miagi sans). We have a few players from these forums in the corp. There are NO strings attached or dues, come and go as you please, don't like us...tell us to f off :). The corp was formed to help new players or have a casual environment to chill in. And we are part of a small alliance (around 200 players - all industrial). We are sort of the oddballs in the alliance....we are the "what do you feel like doing tonight brain?" type corp. We run lvl 4's out of amarr and caldari space, have an alliance in Null sec, are friendly to AAA and rent space from them,. We chose the alliance cause they do have a ton of industrialists, miners, and only a few pvprs....this way everyone can get a feel for what is asked of them. We don't do large fleet pvp yet, most of the guys in corp are < 6 months old, but we sometimes roam around in a gang of 6 or 8.
Point is....you can find your role with a decent corp and alliance...i usually play the uber tank, we have one guy who discovered his niche as a sniper, and another who absolutely loves being the drone repairer, a girl who is trying to break the speed record in game (i think she is up to 4km/s), and so on.....people find their roles which they love in group. And the NPC corp, while good for some advice, doesn't get you that nice close knit feeling you get .... so even if you have no intention in my corp....look for a corp that suits you...it opens up a whole new experience in gaming. And we are as casual as they come :)

Try to turn your focus onto industry/science/trade. It can be very refreshing and play-time friendly since it's focused on long term achievement. |

You could join a corp that doesn't require you to play all the time, a corp that is tolerant that you have a real life besides Eve. Or you could turn down the industry path, it's lucrative, and doesn't really require much playtime. (: Alternatively, you might have hit a burnout, and you could cancel your sub for a few weeks and see wether or not you're drawn back to Eve (I know I am) |

I agree with this. I have a PvP Minmatar main who is trained for interceptors and tackling and is moving into covert ops and ewar. I have been keeping him at the frigate level, which helps me really focus his training. Find a role you want to fill and focus on that. You will become good at it quickly and start having a lot of fun.
Participating in FW costs isk though. During the week I play a Caldari mission running alt to make isk. I play about 1-2 missions a night and salvage. This earns more than enough isk to support a full weekend of FW PvPing on my main, even though I always lose a few ships and sometimes even my implants. Once again it is key to focus the training. Being Caldari this alt can focus on missles and drones along with isk making skills like salvaging and scrap metal processing so that he can be making a lot of isk per hour with only a few months of training. |

lol some of the people posting here seem to think he's a noob :P
I can suggest you try SMX who I know put RL first as they are our sister corp (but they tend to do a lot of exploration/wormholes as well, not purely pvp) but only you can decide what you want in other aspects of the corp. Wish you good luck :) SMX has a recruitment thread here -- |

I guess I should have laid off the acid in my H.S. and college years then maybe my brain wouldnt be fried lol. I am actually a Pvper just struggling to find my place in the game due to very limited gametime. I took myself out of my corp/alliance since I couldn't actively contribute. Anyway to the quoted poster you seem to have understood and ill check out the link thank you. Playing: EvE, Ryzom |
