Bought 2 accounts but ebayed those. Played on friends account a few times but nothing over maybe 5hrs total tops. Enough to know I didnt like it. Not one of those people who gives products a long time to impress. Either it is or isnt for me and this is just a case of the company isnt more than the game. |

Played it still playing it since beta, kept my attention the whole time shame that other than EVE UO Old Pre-CU SWG, has a game kept me playing and want to play it 24/7, shame that other fluff MMOs out there just fall in expectation to what they offer more of the same WOW-clone offerings, been a while since I have actually posted here so you know I'm enjoying the game .. so back to playing ;) For the number of times that SOE has destroyed the game I loved, even after it was very clear it was not what the majority wanted, I feel that they should start making donations to us- Paradox (SWG) http://www.fragglerockforever.com/swg/antiTCGloot.gif |

It's nothing amazing.. but it holds my attention enough. Nothing out right now that seems like it'll be fun to play.. It feels more casual then many other games I've played. Currently playing Real Life.. http://i36.tinypic.com/2uyod3k.gif For all your stalking needs.. |

Wasn't hard for me to get, played for a day and decided I liked it, but just didn't have the time for it. Extremely time consuming so it doesn't work well with having a job and wife, and a life outside of my office. |

It's true. At first I thought I could just pick it up, run around and kill things, but the more I play it the more time it seems to take up. From going from one place to another (1.5 hours from yssem to the area I'm at now.. which isn't even half way across the map). That's a long ways to go.. and if you die.. You're pretty much screwed.. The time it takes up to level skills is long. Especially if you have a starter weapon. No real point to playing if you only have a starter weapon.. at least not long periods of time. This. Darkfall is all about PVP. You can kill mobs and live as a gatherer/crafter, but you have to be able to fight on a daily basis. You will be killed often and lose all your stuff. People will trick you and loot the mobs you killed. Some parts of the game is so bad compared to other PVE mmo`s, I sometime cry blood in frustration.
The good part is pvp, full-loot, danger and politics. I hope they will improve some of the bad things like the chat, GUI and make new players level faster. And no matter what other people say, you will need a macro program. If you don`t you will lose you sanity pretty quick in Darkfall. I have probably spent 80% of my time in DF macroing lumber, mining just to try to improve my basic stats. Currently grinding Darkfall |

The Darkfall game comcept is a great one but it's being run by some inept people right now. I would probrobly try it out if Adventurine gets ahold of the rampant cheating, billing problems, duct tapes Taco's mouth, and the community police's itself. |

I tried to get the game a couple of times myself. I ended up getting it .. like.. some time in early april. It's not the greatest thing ever, but it's more fun then a lot of other stuff I've played. It really feels like Vanguard in the start (You lose everything except your starter weapon when you die), and since I played on the PvP server for Vanguard, I still have that "be wary of everyone" over view. I kind of wish there were character names because when people all look the same it's hard to figure out who the enemy is. Worse yet, when you get attacked out of nowhere from a group of friendlies/non-friendlies, it's hard to fight back. I'll still wait for the NA version personally, but would like to see the game succeed being that a very small independent company released it. Hopefully it will entice larger corporations to fund or take chances on smaller labs in the future instead of just bankrolling the same 3 or 4 companies who churn out the same product. Whether it fails or grows, I it would be refreshing to see other game makers will take note of the things it does right and put them into their future designs. I agree with your points. I don't think we should throw our money at every independant developer though. We do need something to break the mega giant WoW game model, but giving our money to somebody who pretty much copies everything that's been done in the past?? Darkfall has the potential to be great. It has a huge varied world, they just need more reasons to fight over things. In AC, you'd figure over a dungeon beause the xp was good, or the loot was good.. or .. for something valid. In Darkfall, it's all about pride, and for people like me who don't care about pride in a video game..?? Resources are everywhere, making that little plot of land nothing more than a fluff item. There are enough towns with banks close.. I could see if they implemented a lot of the features they planned on implementing (guard towers for player towns, or at least NPCs) but until then.. whatever power struggle there is.. is only a struggle because the people make it that way. I have a wife, a job, and a 3month-old son. i highly recommend macroing the dull stuff while you do RL stuff so you can do the fun stuff with the time leftover. TBH, like EVE, solo play is for the dedicated, for the majority the game is 100x better once you get into a clan, especially one that owns a city/hamlet. then the real fun starts.
i feel sorry for those who play the game for < 10 hours without getting into the larger clan-v-clan game.
as for me, played since beta. love it. dislike some of the rough edges but the core game is awesome (unlike most other MMOs IMO), and the frills and polish will come.

it seams a lot of games really only become interesting 6 months to a year after they are first released . i d pretty much written off age of conan because i had a horrible experiance with it when it was first released . i ve recently returned finding it vastly improved . but the nice thing with conan is because its for sale in shops and on ebay you can get it relativly cheaply now to try it out because darkfall is download only i d imagine even in several months it wont be something you can get at a budget price. so the only way i would try it would be on a free trial . untill then i m not gonna waste my money . |

I am in a clan. The thing is, they gave out the pre-order link on our forums, and I wasn't ready to pre-order darkfall. iw anted them to work out the bugs first. But, my clan didn't. so, the majority of them are out fighting high level stuff, have mounts and tons of gear. I don't like things handed to me, so I told them I'd work up to that point. I also don't like macroing.. and with the starter weapon fix, it makes is sort of impractical, although I could just go into part of our city and do it.. I guess that wouldn't be so bad.. Played the game, enjoyed it , then realized that was it. What I m saying is it got boring extremly fast. Played with a good group of people only 3 are left playing, we all had that been there done that feeling with SB. Only thing is we found SB WAY better. In the end we all sold our accounts :) To each their own, it was just meh to me and most of my long time guild mates. |

Yeah, I get that feeling, too. It feels like AC.. but.. in AC everything was NEW and seeing a Tusker/Olthoi for the first time was great. But until I got to see the scary stuff in the high end, I know I have to kill the low level stuff to build up. Don't macro. We have enough cheaters in the game as it is. Regarding gear, mounts, etc., you can join your clan's groups when they go PVE farming and get yourself geared up, without them actually giving you anything. For mounts, just spend a couple hours herbing and have one of your clanmates make you a mount with your steedgrass.

Very interesting comment coming from you, considering the discussion we had in the other thread. I thought the systems we fun and rewarding, so macroing was not needed? ---------- "No, your wrong.." - Random user #123 "Hello person posting on a site specifically for MMO's in a thread on a sub forum specifically for a particular game talking about meta features and making comparisons to other titles in the genre, and their meta features. I also have a wife, I as well have 3 kids, and I m a chef at a multi care facility/manager. In otherwords I work alot. That said macroing in a game to keep up is a joke, if you don t have time to play a game then don t. Macroing is a joke IMO. |

I played DF for about 2 weeks at first i thought hey maybe this could work, then marcoing and speed hacking started. Well it happens, then it just kept dragging on. Iam not going to play a game that i spend 4 hours a day playing havesting fight or whatever and this fruit that dosnt want to put the time in sets up a macro program i understand there is marcoing in alot of game but when a game is based on crafted armor and crafted items it sucks for the person that spend the time to the person that is lazy. I do understand that people have jobs family but its a game to be enjoyed by all if u have time then play if not then dont. Speed hacking dont even have to say much about that how long it take before they do something about it 3 people rolling 20 plus people that dont want to hack hmm BS. The game play not bad it has ok graphics and some good quests. The faction for the races is broke someone that kills other races for awhile can then go back and murder his race wtf the logic in that. Dont get me wrong i love pvp and pve as long as it fair or atleast semi. |
