"then again I could be wrong, but that's just my opinion" -Dennis Miller

hey guys I have decided to come back despite my displeasure of the RMT. i figured on what I researched the RMT poses no real threat to me vs a person who purchases off it, nor do i have a need to ever use it. What i wanted to know is,

1) I am on blackburrow, how is the general population?(i need someone from blackburrow that is currently playing)

2) how is shadows of oddessey? good? bad? so so? give me detailed view on it if you can.

3) how is game update 51?? I saw some stuff on it, but id like a first hand perspective on it from someone.

4) given these 4 questions and if you have any views you would like to express or share that you feel would help me decide to play again please share them. I am eager to join my old guild, but i am kind of wary. thanx.

Disclaimer - I do not raid

1) population - I'm on Blackburrow

the 70-79 chat channel is busy during prime time but that's as far as a I realistically know.

LavaStorm is VERY BUSY with level 80s with multiple zone instances because of the new content.

2) how is TSO?   cant comment

- you need to be at least 75 to get Void Shard rewards

- you need to be at least 79 to get Daily Double quests  (get 2 void shards instead of 1)

I prefer the under 80 game, altho I have quested in the Moors.  Moors is OK but nothing special

3) game update is fun - Ive done all the level 80 quests

you need to be at least 73 for the high level quests

eq2.allakhazam.com/wiki/lavastorm_(eq2_quest_series)

Probably will not take more than 4 hours to complete the unique quests.

There are repeatable quests for cash and a daily solo quest for a void shard.

x2 Group content in Lava - I have not seen yet

the new level 45 LS Quest series I am still learning - its been fun so far

my crafting skills stink and one of the quest chains needs a crafting skill of 10

Flaming Rhino needs -10k faction to purchase

eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/wiki/eq2_item:a_Sootfoot_spiky_lava_cow_drum

4) I advise resubscribing for 1 month

if only to see the new Lavastorm content, SOE did a nice job

2. I like shadow oddessey.  It is pretty group oriented with a bunch of fun dungeon runs that take a full group.  They are also tiered so you need to progress gear wise through them to be able to do that harder ones.  Each instance has a mission you do that give you shards which you use to get armor made.  The missions in the instances change every day so there is some variety and nice aa points.

3. game update 51 is pretty nice.  The new lavastorm stuff is fun but too quick.  I was also disappointed it didn't net me more AA.  got about 1 AA for completing all the quests.  The new 2X raid zone is fun but so far hard to get into.  It is pretty tough as well and requires people with very good gear.

I think eq2 gives a nice balance between solo questing and group oriented activities.

Hello! If you're a veteran player thinking of returning, give billing a call. If you ask nicely and maturely, they'll give you 3 days on your account to try out and see how everything is going. Sony is a bit flexible since Everquest 2 isn't looking so hot so they'll hook you up. Good luck!

Game hopping since 2003.

TSO has stolen a lot of ideas from other games, good ideas though.

Firstly - they stole the exact format for 'Badge of Justice' grinding from Wow - you grind heroic instances to acquire tokens and one particular instance gives a few more which is different every day. Although the EQ2 version is a much more intense grind, WoW = 1 per boss. EQ2 = 1 per FINAL boss. There are 3 tiers of armour (oh look same as pre WOTLK WoW :) to grind. They did add the ability to craft them which is unique.

Secondly - The added a chapter based quest line (hello LOTRO) to kill all the named bosses at end-game.

They added a free mount and recently revamped lavastorm to include faction mounts (hello TBC WoW).

They added an extra AA tab but for most classes the bonuses are pretty unimpressive.

the "gear reward system for running instances"  was used by Everquest in LDON expansion

I like the new expansion a lot more than ROK, but it is just high level content so if you don't have a char of 73+ you will not have much use for it until you have.

Personally I hope they will do as EoF with the next expansion and give us zones all the way up again.

Anyways, I got back a few weeks ago after 9 months of AoC and I must say I have a lot of fun. It was Fens of Nathasar together with some friends quitting that got me to quit the first time (fens are so boring).

Thanks for the info :) was thinking of comming back myself and didnt really wanna shell out $15 to test it out. This is an excellent alternative. Thanks to everyone here as well, very informative :D

Deadpool(to "Daredevil): See how you like it when I smack you with an interspatial distorter that will temporarily phase your brain into Dimension X!

"Daredevil": This is an ipod with a piece of masking tape attached to it.

Deadpool: It is...Ah, but for a second there, you were really worried!

"Daredevil": Idiot.

As i've been finished with the game for a month or so now ..TSO is as boring as ROK was but for different reasons, the tired game mechanic of collecting tokens after running the same zones isnt my idea of fun, indeed it wasnt much fun back in EQ and to think the devs went back to this idea smacks of a dev team thats run out of ideas i too yearn for a EoF like expansion next time round, but i fear it wont come about sadly.

Anyways i'll no doubt pop back in here when (and indeed if) i go back to the game untill then have fun you crazy kids :)

youll be glad to know i got into eq2 for 3 days thanx to SOE. and I might say I like the changes although I dont have TSO. so i very well may end up resubbing once i have some extra cash by next month. but i agree with some of u guys that ROK was a bit boring, EOF was really fun and added alot of content as well as new land mass. so lets hope the next expansion is similar to EOF.

TSO was a great expansion in my book...

If you are 80 what would you be doing without TSO?  Running like 5 dungeons looking for rare drops?  Mentoring people?  Raiding?  Playing alts?  I think that covers it.

Enter TSO and now we have another 10+ dungeons we can run.  Just like before you can run them for rare drops.  One difference is that also give you tokens.  So really how is this a bad thing??  for grouping at 80 dungeons went up from around 5 to 15+...
