I have a friends son who is playing RUNESCAPE he has just upgraded his graphics card from 128mb to ati x 1650 pro 512mb. his ps is only 400w is this really enough for the card.
He also has 800mb ram, amd1800, 80gb HDD. he is wanting to run it in HD but after installing the card this still wont let him run it in HD mode.
Anyone any suggestions other than buy a new PC? |

HD graphic signify you play them at this resolution : 1,920x1,080 The article its for TV but its the same for PC : http://www.cnet.com/hdtv-resolution/ You will need a 30Inch screen computeur to reach that resolution, and after a card better than this one 1650 pro 512mb.. To keep the resoluaiton at 30 FPS when you play ( no need of a big card since its only runescape, but you need a card resoluation 1.920*1080) Take care @+ p.s; ium surprised that Runescape offert a HD graphic LOL might be bigger square and bigger rectangle. wow, runescape HD just means high detail, it's an old game man... no need for an HDTV or 1920x1200 resolution or anything. Try the steps on this page: www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarticle.ws
There's no reason that pc shouldn't be able to handle the game in high detail. |

I'd download ATI Catalyst if you don't have it installed already, that should allow you to use HD. Other than that I'd say get a new PC (sorry). I think the PSU is probably enough, but this card was a low end budget card when WoW was released. So tell your friend to stop being as tight as a gnat's butt and bring that PC into the next century! OK I exagerated a bit there, but upgrading to that card on that rig is just throwing good money after bad. A new AM2+ mobo and X27750 BE would be about £100, a HD 4650 can be had for under £50 and DDR2 is practically being given away. I know it's not small potatoes exactly but you're gonna have to get a new rig sometime, if I owned that rig I'd be upgrading or asking the doctor for a perscription for Valium. But try download the ATI Catalyst control center from the link I gave you and give it try if you haven't already. Other than that, get a new rig.

well anyone here is gonna say that pc is a PoS but come on.. he doesn't need a new pc to run that game :) it's probably just a driver problem or browser thing :) Try it in a different browser, Firefox if you're using IE, IE if you're using Firefox - update your java install, etc. This game requires a Geforce 3 or better for high detail.. the x1650 is way beyond that. |

If you want to run Runescape, you need a Core i7 940 Extreme Edition, 24 GB DDR3 RAM, Pair of GTX295 in SLI, a 1200w PSU, Liquid Cooling System, in a $500 Case, and a 4x SSD RAID Array or one of those new PCI-e SSD devices. |
