Is there such an mmorpg out there? I know the pay the play element must make eve online as in-depth as it is with a great community. |

That is a tall order.
I can't think of any. |

Taikodom, It is very close to what Eve Online has to offer but it is very free to play. That is if you can get by the fact that the only version out right now has only text in english and dubbed in portuguese. If you can handle that then goto http://www.taikodom.com "Possibly we humans can exist without actually having to fight. But many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future, then what sort of future is it, and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?" |

You could always check out Black Prophecy. Like EVE Online, though not entirely. Have no idea about the community though, since it's still in beta. That sort of thing varies from game to game. As for depth, I think EVE is pretty up there on the list. Hard to top off something like that. TGWTETIPTNMAITC! -Gary Whitta |

D&D Online is one of the most complex MMORPG's on the market. You'll find it deep in different ways though. But don't be fooled by the newbie island. The newbie stuff is a breeze, but once you get off the island it starts to get deeper and deeper till you drown in it. |

Try wurm online. Very deep sandbox (like EVE). But the graphics are amazing when you can see the whole city from miles away... |

Free MMORPGs and deep... nice self-contradiction. |
