I showed it to the CoTC and they rewarded me for giving them some vital information and for betraying them. I was planning it for a while so it became a successful spy attempt. Then I headed to the Terrible Company city who are sharing it with Awful Company and then rerolled an Alfar and now I am finally part of TC. Section 50? |

Well almost for any troll you see you can look at their post history. They are almost all fans of pve games like LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, etc and are most definetly all outspoken carebears. Just be careful and do not allow them to lure you into arguments. Just report them to moderators and move on
Anyway I am enjoying the game. I've been busy for past couple days so didnt have much time to play. But this weekend I should have a lot of time. This is the game us pvpers have been waiting for. You can DODGE firebolts and arrows in this game yourself. How cool is that? There is no dice roll being rolled on the server that determines life/death. When two meleers fight in this game- they actually MOVE around and use tactics. In WoW and most any other horrid dice roll game, all meleers do is fight in ONE SPOT. And Spiking a target was so easy for guilds. You just call target on vent, everyone TABs to the poor sucker, and all attack. I've seen people die instantly in those other horrid MMOs
This all changes here. All that BS is fixed by merely getting rid of dice rolling. Finally, a true pvp mmo for us. and only cost $50 thats nothing. I spend over $120 for 2 xbox 360 games per month alone

Originally posted by PatchDay Go ahead call me a care bear, but i bet i have more time in real PvP games, than you sir, this is why i am a knowledgeable customer, and see darkfall for what it is. a mediocre, shallow, flawed from the design stage , amateur production, simplistic PvP game. Just because someone currently plays, and enjoys a PvE game, does not mean someone is a carebear. I am glad you are enjoying the game. do it with out assuming about people.

Ah the true fanboy post. Any thread cannot be complete unless the words "carebear" and "go back to wow" are present. |

Try EvE online for a REAL PvP sandbox game. In darkfall you can.... PvP PvE Fight clan wars Build and take citys Craft [barely] Exploring is there but not exactly usefull [as in you will get payed for it]. In EvE you can.... PvP Fight Corperate wars Build and take Stations Craft - a lot trade on the market PvE Exploring is supported and usefull Mercenaries exist in EvE
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981 |

Mercenaries exist in DF also, quite famous and in demand people I might ad: The Mercs & Covert Operations are two of the biggest mercenary guilds around and if you have the money they will help with your city being sieged or siege another city.
And what do you mean "barely" craft? - let me tell you something in the guild the busiest and most in demand people are the mount and armorsmiths/weaponsmiths. Besides the number of crafters who make modules for cities to sell them to other guilds (see Haven for example). Perhaps DF does not "pay" for you to explore, but its far more useful to scout an area and see the rock formations/rivers that can be used as cover or springboard for counterattack.
In EVE its just empty space....come on now...even with planets DFs exploring is much more valuable than EVEs
Not trashing EVE in the least, but its sad that you guys who come here and have no ideea about the game come and give us examples of how your precious is so much more that.
Give me a break |

The fact that you didn't know this makes me think you might not be playing the game. A few of them PM'ed me about wanting to participate in the last article I wrote, but I didn't want to make it any longer. |

I played it for 2 weeks and sold my account for what I paid for it. The game looks good but has too many flaws. The slow, clunky, half assed attempt at FPS combat in an MMO setting was a joke. It felt like BF1942 slowed down 80%. The game IS skill based but doesnt take any skill to play |

I'm not sure everyone caught this.
For months before and after release of DF, we should recognize that the problem is not the game itself. The game can improve or has potential. The problem is Aventurine. The company is crooked and has a horrible Public Representative in the name of Tasos Flambouras... what is worse is that their ability to rectify situations and the judgment of their GMs is nothing short of a crack-baby with a missile-launcher. |

Not like all other mmorpgs where smashing on different keys plus the luck of the dice will determine the winner (lets not talk about the gear you have on, thats another matter onto itself) What will you guys come up with to complain next, i mean come on "game is skill based but doesent take any skill to play" Roll On The Floor Laughing |

Don't be so humble.
Let's say that the player who pwn'd you is a younger kid with less experience than you. Who plays spammable games like AoC where you just spam your combo or attack buttons, regardless of cooldowns. Crouching under your swing? Please. Not even Age of Conan lets jumping matter when you're swinging. You're getting hit as a complete avatar. |

They can't see the forest for the trees, and their play experience is usually either so one sided in that they haven't played many games, or they played one game and compared every other game to that game. The "This is the game that us PvPers have been waiting for".. Again.. a blind statement by someone who hasn't played many games. The style of PvP in Darkfall is NOTHING NEW. Let me stress again it's "NOTHING NEW". I've been playing skill based PvP games for a long time (AC, CS, Hell even AoC has real time combat) where you have to dodge, move, strike, run away, run back, jump, spin.. ETC.. F'n amatures who call Darkfall PvP revolutionary.. Get a clue and get out of the parents basement. There are a lot of games out there that can satisfy your PvP craving. So, in closing, patch, I'd like to say that before you post do these things: 1. Think - Am I posting something that makes sense? 2. Delete what you have posted and write "edited" 3. click post. I know if you double-direction you get a dodge bonus or double-forward for charge bonus... there's a "jump" bonus for AoC? o.O When did this happen?
And just reminding me about these bonuses, helps me understand that AoC does seem to require a bit more skill... but I haven't seen these movement bonuses make a difference in the long run. |

I haven't seen a civil discussion thread about this game yet, and I doubt I ever will. I would probably try it if the shop were ever up for more than an hour or two at a time. Can't say I have a good impression of the company behind it based on everything I've read, but I've definitely tried stinker games before, so if it is one, it wouldn't be the first. |

I dont really see what Age of Conan has anything to do with this discussion.
DF is a twitch based combat system, where if you crouch at the right time the swing will go over your head....simple. It also helps alot against mounted players since they are high up and you are crouching.
If as you say AoC does not let jumping matter when youre swinging....well it seems like a design problem, perhaps petition Funcom about it than telling me monologues about a game you havent even played? |
