Me personally, im not seeing anything revolutonary here. the graphics are impressive ill give it that, especially the idle, and combat animations. The quests are generally the same old stuff, im actually surprised how well the english patch is made, wasnt expecting it to translate allt eh quests as well.
The combo combat system is ok, nothing to crazy, so far the game is alright, good for people looking for something else to do, but interms of whether or not id pick this up, when it comes out along side star wars the old republic and the secret world, id probably buy this and play it as an alternate game.
Its a good game, but nothing special, what do you guys think? Life... is the shit that happens while you wait for moments that never come... ----- How come the people who hate World of Warcraft, never realize they are the minority? -------- |

I don't think TOR is going to be out by Q4 or the Secret world for that matter. So as for picking this up when other good stuff is out is doubtful, becuase there's nothing else out that I would be willing to play. |

I wasn't aware that they were all coming out at the same time. The advantage of this game is that it has been thoroughly tested now, whereas Secret World is another Funcom offering (yikes), and Star Wars from a company that makes nice RPGs, but new to MMOs (far as I am aware). I would imagine Aion to be a much smoother experience, |

I havnt participated in any PvP yet, so I cant really judge the game too much. I will say the game runs incredibly well completely maxed out. The animations are about the bets Ive seen in any MMO to date. The PvE side is pretty standard, however im not playing this game for the PvE. It reminds me a LOT of lineage 2 which is fantastic as far as the UI goes and the overall feel of the game. I just hope the PvP side of the game compares to L2. ![]() "You act like daffodil picking dwarves are anywhere out of the ordinary..."-Laura "Taera" Genender 2008 |

I was wondering if this was gonna be L2.1 ...... Could you be more specific about the similarities ? Or is it just the UI ? BTW I would go back to L2 if they wiped and /or created new servers. |

Yeah good game, but yeah nothing really special about it. It more or less tries to be like a Lineage 2 version of World of Warcraft. It doesn't trying to evolve or revolutionize anything. It just tries to be fun and entertaining. If RPing was still as big as it was back during when EQ and UO first came out. Aion would be an RPers haven. Lots of emotes... I'm definitely going to be playing the US version when it's released. Graphics - Good, but as far as poly count AoC still wins hands down. Aion has some nice clean textures, and alot of the fluff stuff is nice. Like Asmo eyes turning red when they unsteath their weapon. How you can see your breath if it's cold area. Elyos pulling out a giant leaf umbrella when it starts raining. Art direction - Very good. Area's feel and look like a good fantasy should for most part. Sound - Good. Foot steps, weapon hits, blocks, parries, the lot of it all sounds good. Engine - Good. It does indeed scale pretty well. Even on my sucky system. I manage a steady FPS range of 22 to 35 at a resolution of 1680x1050. WIth Shadows still on, and all the sliders set to medium, with 2x AA and Bloom Type 1. >Nope, problem is you can't contruct a halfway logical counterpoint to anything, probably because you don't understand what it is you're arguing about in the first place. - Hellmoob |

IIRC Aion team has already come out and said that they're not trying to reinvent the wheel. It's for fantasy players who enjoy the current trend of MMOs and have liked their previous games (Lineage, GW, CoX) and this is something new for those lot. I think it looks amazing visually and I think their combat system has really finetuned some of the things I liked in their older games. And again aesthetically the combat looks amazing. |

so far i've had fun playing it, just picked it up tonight and got a mage to level 6. i just unlocked my first combo, which pretty much gives you an extra attack every 30 seconds, causing you to do double damage or so. one thing i have liked a lot is the progression through the area so far. i haven't spent much time in one area, you do a few quests in one spot then run on to the next one and get some more quests so the scenery changes a bit and youre not spending a long time walking back and forth in one area doing several quests... i'm only level 6 so i dont know how that will turn out later, maybe more grindy, hafta see. level six has only taken two hours and i'm not rushing or anything, taking my time reading a few of the quest texts and exploring around a bit, looks really pretty and with AA x4 and mostly max settings (didn't take the time to change them from default since it looks amazing already lol) running between 70-120 fps, and i've seen it dip down to around 60 fps near a bunch of enemies and water. however, i have not been to any big towns yet. if anyones wondering i have a dual core e8500 OC to 4ghz, an hd 4870(oc'd with the autoclocker) and 4 gigs of ddr2 so its not a ridiculous computer or anything and it seems to handle the game quite well |

I reached lv 6 today. Hit what seems to be the max on "non adult accounts" from what some people say. So with 4 hours around my belt I'll say it's been okay so far. Graphics are nice and are much smoother than I expected with max settings and even 8x AA.
But as others have said I haven't seen anything innovative so far(nor have I since I've been staying up to date with the game). So I'm not really disappointed with that. What I am disappointed in is the fact that I'm using the English "patch" and seeing how well everything has been translated so far. How the hell is our CBT not available yet? It doesn't help that the English client has been "leaked" and shows that the official site secretly has it on their ftp.
*takes a deep breath* Anyways as far as the gameplay goes, it hasn't let me down and I'll probably look into playing it when it comes to us. |

The only thing im not understanding is, why is it taking so long to hit the US shelves, the english patch seems pretty complete, but US beta isnt even being discussed, whats the deal. who knows. but i agree, so far the english patch is pretty awesome. maybe it has to do with servers and selling it and stuff more than the actual translating. or maybe its some secret tricky way to hype the game to make us all want it so bad we all just splurge and buy it when it comes out. i probably will lol |

great game so far. i like the visual effects of skills and the chain skills combo system. And how the skills are designed. Looking very forward to US release. |

So far I've only been able to squeeze about an hour and a half into the game getting to level 6 on my Warrior, but so far its the first game in a while that I can actually see myself buying when it is released. The graphics are pretty amazing for an MMO and optimized well too, im running with 1680x1050 resolution and all sliders maxed with AAx2 and Bloom effect 1 with 56-70 FPS consistently. The fluidity in the game is impressive as well the only game I've seen that in is WoW lately. The UI is nice and clean right from the start, and the quest tracking in the game is excellent. The only thing that I do wish that they didn't do with it was make it feel more open the questing zones are very linear and they are instanced. Overall though I can say that I'm excited to buy it when it hits shelves in the US.
P.S. Anyone know how to switch zone channels so I can actually play with the people that I'm grouped with? I grouped with a friend last night and I was in channel 4 and he was in channel 3.... I could see his position on my map but i couldn't see him anywhere. |

Love the game and I'm definitely gonna buy it. Sure thing it's nothing new, but what mmo has something new anyway? Also abyss combat looks very exciting. You always know where the action is because when someone is fighting in abyss you can see on map 2 swords crossed. Very easy to plan when to PvP. Very fun to play. |

I made level 10, as the summoner, game is pretty cool, i dont know, if i buy it depends on what else is out at the time. The UI is designed to be very customized (like WoW), so I can't wait to see where that goes. I'm definitely going to be playing a Gladiator though. My Sorcerer was nice, but they are way too frail for my liking of a glass canon. >Nope, problem is you can't contruct a halfway logical counterpoint to anything, probably because you don't understand what it is you're arguing about in the first place. - Hellmoob |

Sounds like they are utilizing the same type of indicator that DaoC and Warhammer use to show where the action is. |

Got 11 Spiritmaster atm, game is fun but ping is prety bad from Europe. Kinda anoying when you play caster to wait half a second to second to cast spell weird thing delay is mostly when you start 1st spell then its half as bad only for some reason. But this is only because the distance and will be easily fixed, cant realy complain about this. Beside that game is not revolutionary but fun to play and realy good looking with good performance. I can already tell game will sell v.good on western markets. Considering fact that we prob. will get ver. with 2-3 extra patch that will be relised in the meantime in korea and china. I wonder if it will be as popular in the us, teh game has like 60 servers in open beta and they all have 40min-2hour server queues. I will iterate that the devs had already said that this was going to be a traditional mmo. To me that is ok, as I am not looking for anything to break the mold so much as looking for something that has the right balance of ingredients that I like. Aion is the only game I am planning on purchasing. If it is what I think it is then this will become my main game. If not, then I will just stay in LOTRO with some Warhammer playtime. I also don't think it will be very popular here. I know that at certain times people have uttered that terrible phrase "wow killer", but the game is very esoteric and I don't think it will appeal to the masses. I do however think it will be successful. |

I played lineage 2 for 4 years, and after playing this again i get that feel again, they did well with teh presentation, as but as for buying it, i guess it depends on if this game comes out before or after the secret world and starwars . Hidden within the legitimate questions asked by people playing Aion, I bet they're just saying "Haha I'm playing Aion and it's great! Suck on that!"
Man I want to play Aion.... |
