(looked stunning tho..and I love the reactive grass and god rays)..will adding a sound card improve my framerates? (despite I only have 2.1 spkrs)
sound card will improve your performance ( depends on soundcard, some wont improve.. some can give 15% boost, but you need to consider those improvements probably wont effect you, as its cpu only, and running i7, i doubt aoc lacks cpu power from you.. yours 9800gt alone is bit too little) you far better off adding another 9800 probably can find one for around same price ( well bit more expensive ) than good gaming sound card ocing yours i7 will give better boost than new sound card too ( overclocking my sound evil and scary if you never did it, it did for me.. i was scared to try, but when i did.. it was most fun i ever had with pc , just google for i7 overclocking, read a lot.. memorize it.. and give it a go ) |

I was thinking on SLIing another 9800gt...but I still have 30days to upgrade for the difference to a evga GtX285(for $223) or gtx275 (for $125.00)...what is your opinion?...just double up..or upgrade?.. I have also been thinking on using the gigabyte software that will OC my cpu to up to 3.2 ghz(i think)...it is 2.6 now....never done it before and not too keen on messing with bios. I'm sure it's nothing...I'll grow some bigger balls soon and try it out. |

I found the graphics to be pretty disappointing. DX9 was 'meh', and DX10 was too glitchy to enjoy. Shadows and plant physics created some ugly combinations that just didn't look pleasing to the eyes at all. Character models were also extremely unimpressive (probably the worst part about the graphics) I have an 8800GS, 6GB DDR2, and a decent dual core, and the performance was utterly crap in DX10, but then I expected that too. DX9 was so-so, but again, it didn't look impressive to me. Yeah, for a fantasy MMO it is probably still the best looking game, but it was too glitchy for me to really care. That, combined with clunky animations and problems getting the game to not default to windowed mode and 1600x1200 every 15 minutes, made me quit caring after a day. |

I find the overlands a bit visually dissapointing tbh, but some of the dungeon interiors are amazing. Character models are also VERY impressive for a MMORPG. I dont get the 'uncanny valley' feel in AOC like in some games, noticably EQ2. Graphically, the DX9 game for me scores 7.5-8/10 compared to other next gen titles (cross-platform) out there. DX10 is a little too buggy atm, so I can't really comment on that. |

Sorry to break it to you, but it most certainly is you. If you've got that on max, maybe you should look at your graphics card. It seems like that card might be out dated, if you want something visually stunning like this, you do really need to have an up to date graphics card. I've played this game max with my nvidea GTX280, and it's amazing (this was only on D9) I like cookies. |

buy an ATI HD 4830 it`s around 100 euros...you should be fine with that EDIT : NVM my comment you would be better with a 4850 because I took a look at the price on NCIX.com and you can probably find a 4850 for the price of a 4830 QUESTION: |

To all the naysayers that think this guy is trolling, you are incorrect... I played AoC at launch and now on the same rig, and I could play on high both times. Before the graphics were amazing, now mine look just like his screenshot. I believe they did something to the trial client so that they could try to boost performance and make it seem like they really got the bugs out and made the game run smooth.. It looks absolutely terrible on my computer compared to when I played before and I upgraded to much better monitors since then... |

Graphics in AOC are some of the best in the industry that is a known fact. If you are not getting that then either your PC is outdated or your drivers are. |

Lotro and Aoc have the best graphics out of any MMO out there right now, dunno, maybe the OP is use to playing with Atari or Diablo type graphics... |

It's fascinating that you completely ignored the point of my reply. I have the graphics on the highest settings. My drivers are fine, they were fine the first time I played back in May-July. I saw the textures then and I do not see them now. Do you not understand that they have a trial client and a full client you can download? The trial client could easily only allow you to have terrible graphics so this "awesome" trial they're letting us have for free makes us think they boosted performance. Also, it's interesting that they are allowing me to play through Tortage. Was there -ever- a problem with Tortage? No. It was really fun. It's when you go to the actual game that it becomes buggy and boring. |

I'm running the game on an nvidia 8500 which isn't running too bad at all and looks fine with dx10, little performance issues with card but nothing to complain about here. |
