So I have 60 days of sub and even though I'm not enjoying it I thought I might aswel get the most for my money. So I decided to give the Epic Mission Arc a go and it is just crap. Now I don't mind things being easy, just aslong as they're interesting like the kidnapping missions of Gracie in GTA 4 or when you have to look into the apartment with your sniper rifle and get his phone number, call him so he comes to the door and kill him. However these missions are basically the same thing I done on the agent missions and the story is really crap too, it doesn't help that it is only told in text cause if I wanted a story delivered to me in text for then I would have read a book.... no I want to play it. All I was doing is warping to some mobs and killing a few waves and warping out or delivering something and I was thinking how is this any different from agent missions? I sure hope when they put avatars into the game they explore missions that use that like theres an abbandonned station and you have to find out whats wrong and do horror and puzzles or something. |

Pretty unlikely. They said you can set up a shop. ![]() |

Try PVP. EVE is not for PVEers. _____________________________ http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/148428/POLLING-HEAVEN.html http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/148428/POLLING-HEAVEN.html |

oh god the whiner is back. the epic storyline is for newbies, its balanced at around level 1 / level 2 mission difficulty. |

want some really good pve...tackle the Sleepers in wormhole space..especially if you find a sleeper complex....those guys are tough as nails..and smart to boot. |

one day someone should post a poll. I cant figure out why people would stick to PVE for long. Honestly the static PVE in EVE is like an Asian grinder hehe
But the Sandbox PVE--- omg drooolll. this game owns. The PVP, shiiii it just rocks. Real rush |

I am clearing up w-space complexes in T1 cruiser until BS spawns, those are fitted with idiotic DPS - I say again, Sleepers are NOT smarter nor more challenging, don't fail to marketing drivel. |

They are far smarter than the basic rat and in some cases smarter then some of the players I have fought. Come try them in my wormhole system Gdemami in your nice little T1 cruiser and see how well you do. |
...never happened to me and I was trying out w-holes on Sisi even before they were released on TQ and all w-holes I was running were located in low sec. So you say that some w-holes are filled with dull NPC and some with smart ones? That seems highly unlikely to me :-/ |

I think the 'difficulty' scales up with people present in the system/site. |

I bet they were not ass handed by swarm of frigs, did they? :) If not, that is not my case since like I said I warp out as soon as BS spawns. It seems to me, that they deal insanse DPS no matter of w-hole difficulty level :-P |

The current epic arc was meant for newbies with no corp and no idea what to do. It is a vast improvement over what was before. Before you went through a short, but cumbersome tutorial. Assuming you didn't screw up in the tutorial (which was easy to do), you got an agent contact for a ten-mission storyline. After that, you were booted out in the sandbox. It was a newbie killer. It's still not great, but new guys have a better chance of not being completely bewildered into uninstalling. As far as PvP vs. PvE, I think EvE bucks the mmorpg stereotypes in this regard and it is not so much PvP vs. PvE as it is hi-sec (or "Empire") vs. lo/null-sec. A PvE'er operating in lo can be pretty exciting as you look over your shoulder knowing the baddies could show up any minute. Sometimes I run courier missions into low-sec and my heart races every time I hit the undock button. Frankly, any mmorpg dev could learn alot from EvE in general and from it's PvP mechanic in particular. ............... Less QQ more pew pew |

I actually enjoyed the epic arc. Hell I like Eve missions in general, Maybe it's my casual gameplay style I like relaxing and doing a handful of missions. Certain missions are pretty tough If you don't scout out a mission before hand and bring the wrong type of plating you could find a mission incredibly difficult if not impossible. Sure the missions are mostly warp in, kill that but I like that type of stuff. Clearly Eve wasn't designed for pve mission running exclusively, I'll give CCP credit though they are interesting enough that a whole mess of people never touch pvp in eve and do nothing but agent missions, plexes and ratting.... that's saying something.

Very unlikely. From what I heard you will only be able to explore the stations, have your own shop maybe and interact with other players on the avatar level. So no "Earth and Beyond" RIP good ol' game, for you. I am waiting until EVE maybe becomes one day like that when you'll be able to get off your bed in your personal room on station, walk through the halls and Bars, warehouses, get to the dock, hop into your ship and go for an adventure on some distant planet with dangerous monsters or whatever. But until that becomes reality it will probably be another 1-2 years if not longer, and if ever to be honest since Eve Online was originally released with focus on PvP battles in space. There are many rumors and CCP has plans, and concept art of surface vehicles is already released but taking eve down to the planets is a huge step for CCP even though I know they are hard working folks. I think by the time they manage to get this done, Old Republic will be out and maybe we will get similar to SWG "Lightspeed" expansion for SWTOR already. CCP has a lot of stuff to work on to bring something like this out in space focused PvP, its like creating totally new game and balancing it with existing EVE. Hellishly lot of work to do. |

There are actually 9 levels of difficulty, the ones that can be done in a t1 cruiser are like the level 1 mission equivalents in wormhole space. Not that there's anything wrong with those, its definitely easy to make profit in them, but real sleepers jam/ecm/remote rep/kill your drones/web you/hit like trucks. Basically, superbosses. As they said, even on the first wave can wipe a whole wormhole battleship fleet. |
