Forget yourself for others, and others won''t forget you.

My friends and I are thinking of trying WoW. Do we all have to buy all 3 games (ie: The original, BC, WLK), or is there one box we can buy to get it all?

Thanks,

But would we have to buy all 3 boxes if we decided to stay or is there a combined box like FFXI does?

If you know what your doing you can level to 60 in wow anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month. if you don't know what your doing it takes much, much, longer. My advice is to get the trial and get as far as you can with that. then pick up wow box or the battlechest with tbc. That will last you a long time. You ca'nt get to northrend till 70 so either wait on wotlk or pick it up if you plan on rolliing a DK at level 55.

there's only a battlechest with original wow and the burning crusade. You have to buy wotlk seperate for now.

It is great game if you can over look a few things.

First the community is littered with horrid little annoying children :)

Second the annoying childish graphics,

Children do not go away in the end game.  This is because the game is so easy .The very last stages of the end game are more challenging.

Not a bad game but perpare your self for the children.

the original, and the burning crusade..come in a battlechest. it comes with the original game, the first expansion pack, an atlas..and, a few other things. currently you HAVE to buy wrath of the lich king by itself..either way, your looking at 80 bucks total. per account. if you or your friend want, and havent already. i can send you two a referal. its alittle longer then the trial. and it makes it easier for me to help you out. all my characters will be low level though. as im starting over from scartch.

breaking news, a brawl broke out between the hogger and arthas the lich king downtown gadgetzan. there where no survivers

You dont have to buy TBC or Wotlk expansions to play WoW.. but your limited to lvl 60 max and ofc cannot vist outlands or northrend or roll a DK or play EoS or SoA battlegrounds.

Download the 10day trial: http://www.trywarcraft.com/index.html

Like what you see buy

WoW Battle chest (Original +TBC + 30days) $35

Get to lvl 60 and still having fun buy

Wrath of the lich king $35

Correction to Coffee's post above: If you buy Battle Chest, you can get up to level 70 with it. The level limit would be 60 if you only bought original WoW.

I'd suggest buying Battle Chests first, since Burning Crusade expansion (included in WoW Battle Chest) has content for lover level players and 2 new races. Wrath of the Lich King is intentionally not included in any of the game packs since it's got only high level content (Death Knights are Wrath of the Lich King exclusive class, available once you reach lvl 55, and Northrend content is meant for lvl 69 - 80)

Trials are always a good idea to get a feel for the game, so i suggest doing that.

You can also just buy the digital version.

Have you played MMO's before?

-If yes, you know what to expect.

-If no, well, let's keep going.

Can you get over cartoony graphics?

-If yes, proceed.

-If no, find something more graphicgasmic.

Do you enjoy running around a vast world exploring? [note: also includes stupidly long times to get everywhere and anywhere]

-If yes, proceed.

-If no, find something more engaging.

If you find yourself not enjoying it, can you stick around still because your friends are suffering with you?

-If yes, proceed.

-If no, well duh, find something that's fun, that's what games are supposed to be after all.

Do you enjoy grinding loot and looking cool? [note: includes devotion of a significant amount of your personal time, this includes all your existing gear being outdated every 8 months or so whenever Blizzard releases major new patches]

-If yes, proceed.

-If no, look elsewhere.

Can you tolerate immature community members who take every moment to follow your lowbie arse screaming slurs and challenging you to duels every step of the way to a major city? [this assuming you don't go to a PvP server, in which you will be ganked repeatedly ad hoc instead of merely suffering a verbal barrage]

-If yes, proceed.

-If no, find a single player game or revert to trolling the forums.

Finally, are you known to be an OCD gamer?

-If no, you may find yourself bored if you don't enjoy any of the above factors.

-If yes, be warned that you may become quickly addicted, especially to the endgame raids, for you will constantly need to get more and better loot.

Remember, it has to be fun to be a game. Grinding is a bedroom activity, and the point is definitely not to do my wife as fast as possible.

Its a very easy MMO with a very simple storyline. lots of content yes. lots of grinding. Community blows but almost all do any more at least IMO others may say diffrent. Its not worth 15 a month but no game is dureing the current finacial stress most places are in atm. If you like to party with friends this could be a great game for you but i would do this with your friends. have one  be a tank another healer and a dps. got a group there already. you will never have to spam LF tank or LF healer agian.  My girl was my healer and i was a huntard so grouping was fast since all we needed was a tank really. Just dont get addicted and lose your sanity...but then agian that gos for all MMO's. If you do decide to play enjoy and never keep your flags up. lots of rouges who love to gank. unless you love PVP then go nuts = P And ignore Trolls make your honest finnaly conclusion after the trial is up! (btw You cant trade,us AH or whisper players who dont have you on there FL and visa versa if i rember right, this is when you are on trial) ENJOY!!! = )

Yes, sorry, I don't know what I was typing. The class is of course Death Knight, not Death King.

New guy to WoW.  Know this the game from 1-79 is nothing like the game at 80.  But both have good and bad qualities.  Well Personally I hated/loved 1-70 but really did enjoy the questing in Wotlk.

Recomendation to you and your friends, if you do get the game.  Get Quest helper to help you guys out with quests.

WoW is a good game I have enjoyed it for alot of years havin said that and coming from alot of the older mmos AC1,Anarchy Online,Daoc, and Eq.It's very easy even more so since the expansions you can pretty much pug all end game. You will me tons of rude ppl and yes all mmo's have there share but wow trumps the others by far.I played with my gf for along time and I was happy just doin that and then rolling up new classes to play around on I did the old 40 man raids but I got burned out on it then took a break from raiding when TBC came out then tried again when wrath came out but raiding is so retardly easy right now its not even worth the bother.  ATM I have been splitting time with Eq2 and Lord of the Rings imo and I am sure ppl will disagree I find both of those games 1000x deeper and more content than WoW has and the communities of both are alot better. There is enough solo play in both to where if I cannot get a group I still manage to lvl just fine can log in and out when I have short play times and still advance.

WoW is def worth a try if you have never played it just understand the type of game your getting into before hand.

Hum not that I remember, Bloodfeather, Xavius and now Grimbatol are the realms Ive spend any time on.

To the OP, If you have a friend with you the game is x1000 better, I'd suggest one of you roll a healer (druid, pally, preist) and another roll a tank (druid, warrior, pally)  if you want to play the 5man dungeons, picking up 3 DPS is easy at any lvl, tank, healer less so. The reason is 90% of a servers population are not in the lower lvl and all far away northrend.

You'll get duel specs as lvl 40 so you wont be stuck to those roles you could also pay some coin and change spec at a trainer.  Druid is the ultimate hybrid, can spec tank, healer or DPS... and to a lesser extent as is the palladin.

In other news.  I found out last night the king of the frost born is the long lost brother of the Ironforge king... enjoyed a nice little reunion after completing a quest chain last night.. awww.

WoW has tons of content and It's very well planned and executed. And there are plenty of us 'old farts' playing too.

I would not bother buying all three if you are not sure if your going to stick with it. I would get the main game, if you like it enough, then head to the 2 expansions.

Good Luck

If you start WoW there is NO need to buy all three boxes. You can start out with the original WoW (although if you buy it I suggest you buy the Battlechest which has WoW+TBC).

In the original WoW you can: raise characters up to level 60, play on Azeroth.

In TBC you can: also make Draenei and Blood Elf characters (and play in their starting zones), play in Outland, also play the battleground Eye of the Storm, play till level 70. And everything you can do in original WoW. Note that you will need the original to play this.

In WotLK you can: play a Death Knight (only after you've levelled a character up to at least level 55 first), play in Northrend, play 1 more battleground, level to 80. Plus everything you could in TBC+original. Note that you'll need TBC+original to play this.

So you could do fine with just the original WoW, but you'll be a bit limited in the things you can do (although there's still plenty of stuff to do).
