Now we've got speculation coming from EVERYWHERE, and not a single word from CME. I really hope this game comes out in a playable condition, but come on. If something were really going on at CME at this point, they would HAVE to have said something by now. To me, it's pretty clear their offices are empty for the moment. People pulled from the community and given fancy labels on the forums just doesn't cut it. We've got Frankie Munez saying he's the "Brand Ambassador" for CME and SGW, and that it's coming out this summer. RIIIIIGHT. You would think that pulling a well known person in like this would have been plastered all over the official site and newsworthy. There is no way this game comes out this summer. It is APRIL, and we haven't even started 2nd phase of closed beta. Just more of a sign to me that no one is at CME, the fact that we heard about this from Frankie first. Has anyone noticed that he's also the logo for MMOGULs?
www.mmoguls.com/ <------ go to the bottom of the page, on the right, that is DEFINITELY him in the logo.
Then there's this one. www.gateworld.net/news/2009/04/wright-talks-stargate-worlds-delay/
When Brad Wright, co-creator of the the SG television franchise, starts adding to the dark cloud of doubt, it definitely might be time to pack it in!
I'm not here to crap all over this thing, if you look among the other posts, I'm looking forward to this game a LOT. It's just not looking too good to me, and the whole blind faith in hope thing just doesn't do it for me. |

Sigh. I was so excited when I first heard about this game. Followed the game progress on their forums and dev interaction steadily decreased until finally it stopped completely. Now all of these controversies, the MMOGULS scam, the lawsuits. I feel bad for the dev team that got caught up in all of this. Honestly I wish that they would just have the license taken away from them. Give it to Cryptic Studios or some other game studio that will do the Stargate universe justice without all the bs and scamming customers going on. |

I agree with everything you just said. Even IF this game releases, under the current circumstances it looks like we'd be dealing with MMOGUL-based pyramid guilds/clans. Not to mention GMs who's employers have vested interests in the pyramid schemes, which would mean that the effort to squash out the MMOGUL/pyramid scheme in-game spam would be non-existent, or close enough to it. It's sad, but not every game succeeds. I still hope that this one beats the odds, but it looks beaten to me at this point. I don't blame the folks on the main forums for being the way they are, they are just guarding their community from this rot. But refusing to acknowledging these things as potential problems is what lets them go on being issues. I feel REALLY bad for the developers who poured their blood, soul, sweat and tears into this, only to have the rug pulled out from under them by this crap. |

MGM needs to get their lawyers' asses in gear and shut this shit down. Funcom needs to change the /petition command into a general nano called "Summon Personal Jester" I keep hearing about this cloud computing thing and I bet that's where FC is putting the grahics engine. Right now they're investing in the weather balloon technology to get all the bits of code up there. Helium is expensive so it might take awhile. |

Perhaps it's time for Frankie to start getting some "fan" mail advising him of what he's potentially involved with. And yet stargate Worlds has been the centerpiece used to get people involved with mmoguls. Wonder if people investing in the crap have looked at that disclaimer and wondered "what the fuck did i just do?"? It drove me nuts for a while.....until the racing sponsorship happened and the light bulb went *CLICK*
Which is exactly what they SHOULD have been asking themselves when they were deciding to invest. No pity for those folk =P lol Pyramid schemes ftL. |

Haha, wow they're actually using Frankie Muniz as the logo for MMOGULS?! I hadn't seen that before. I definitely agree that someone needs to help Frankie realize whats actually going on with this whole pyramid scheme and how Gary Whiting is basically stealing money from investors, for a product that may never get released.
For all of the investors in this little pyramid scam, I agree, no pity. They should have done some research first. I mean seriously, did people actually pay for this crap? Like I said originally, I feel sorry for the devs that put all that effort into the game just to have this happen, but now MGM needs to step in and take back the license before it is tarnished anymore.
Last but not least, for the peope that keep claiming, oh give them time they're still working on it! Well news flash, the first round of beta was over almost 5 months ago and they weren't anywhere near a finished product at that time. |

I think there is a lot of "plausible deniability" being built up. If you haven't seen my large post in the rumor room forum, it somewhat pulls together what is being said "officially" and what I see the MMOGULS affiliates posting, which has SGW plastered all over it. (It's also good for a laugh if you haven't seen the numbers they are throwing around.) Oh, in that other post there is a link to an agreement that seems to be what you need to sign in order to become a affliate. In it, there is a statement: Trademarks/Service Marks. IMAs shall not advertise MMOGULS™’, or business, or any business affiliated in any way with MMOGULS™ (i.e., MGM, Stargate, Stargate Worlds, Cheyenne Mountain Games, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, and FireSky),... Kinda contradicts the website disclaimer... |

So wait, is MGM actually affiliated with mmoguls, or is that Whiting just blowing more smoke? If MGM is actually affiliated ( and I mean directly, not as a byproduct of Cheyenne Mountain ), then I would really worry. Because that would mean nothing can stand in the way of this, outside of the courts. Funcom needs to change the /petition command into a general nano called "Summon Personal Jester" I keep hearing about this cloud computing thing and I bet that's where FC is putting the grahics engine. For one, it says "affiliated in any way"--I would take that as meaning that since MMOGULS is planning on using SGW for its memberships, MGM is therefore affiliated.

It wouldn't suprise me if it wasn't written by Rob Thurston himself, the MMOGULs minister for propaganda. We know that a large portion of people have left, they have no databases since they're being sued by the database providers and the lead and only administrator was laid off. They are shit broke and the CEO has resorted to setting up a pyramid scheme to pay off his debts to workers, investors, other companies and the tax man. Now Brad Wright has said that SGW has hit skid row and in all probability won't be released, by CME atleast. But forget that all it boils down to is this, do I take the word of, A: Brad Wright, executive producer and co-writer for all things Stargate and consultant on all things Stargate to CME. A respected individual by many. or, B: Gary Whiting, known scammer, liar and con artist who has helped run ponzi schemes in the past and is now involved in a pyramid/ponzi scheme based around SGW. Unless you're aFanOri it's really a no brainer! |

Wish I could disagree with you, but I can't. They can release all the statements they want, but until this game shows substantial progress, I will believe it is dead. While I don't think the game was originally vaporware to draw people into the MMOGULs, I wouldn't doubt that they would be delaying the annoucement of the cancellation for it. Until I'm shown otherwise, that's how I see this thing. |

"Look no matter what I post to rebuttal your comments, something else will come up and we can do this all night... guess what, I love the fact that your sitting there waiting for a response... it means you care, just like we do. We posted a 30 second spot on TV and the traffic from that darn near shut down the site... So I think we do ok " |

So again it comes down to one persons word against anothers, Gary "MMOGULs" Whiting vs Brad "SG-1/A/U" Wright |

I'm not sure to what extent I should continue to post misgivings. But frankly, the news of the statement is certainly "information light". And in that regard, it's certainly not a "lie", but neither is it reassuring. Really, the only news that can possibly matter at this point is the announcement of the resumption of beta, which is currently in its 5th month of suspension. No amount of tales of "hard" work will shorten the requirement that it'll be at least 6+ months from that announcement to release. A telling sign is whether they make appearances at the upcoming cons through the summer. That will somewhat gauge: a) how much they have done and are able to show; and b) how much marketing cash they have. They need to build industry buzz if they want a big launch, and these cons are a way to do it, not just with fans, but with press and retailers. BTW, I can say that for the last 28 days, there are only 7 self-identified CME staff forum users who have logged in on 10 or more of those days (only 13 have logged in at least once in that period). And 3 of those are community managers who aren't really tied to development (I think). However, there are 7 CME users I can't track, as their users don't maintain a Last Visit date. One is Khestral, who I know is active, but the rest have never posted all that much. One of the most interesting lines to me out of the announcement from CME was this: We are currently negotiating several deals that will cover our financial responsibilities and fund the remainder of development. When we sign those deals, you’ll hear about it. This will be the "make-or-break". I have a very strong feeling that they don't have the cash to run a beta ATM, otherwise that's what they'd be doing. It's been a month and a half since tkksnow said they were building and testing it. The alternative to a lack of cash is that the whole thing is foobar, which is the worse view. |

Brad Wright who's involvement consisted of signing off the original story ideas and has not been involved since. You can choose to believe who you want. In the end there will either be a game or there won't be a game. My current opinion is there will be a game. Only time will tell. |

Let's get this straight all three are employees of Whiting. Next all three are not involved in day to day development of SGW. Kevin Balentine is a PR manager, so nothing to do with day to day development of SGW there. TKKsnow is a community manager which doesn't require him to even be on the payroll, many MMO companies have that as a voluntary position. So he won't be involved in any day to day activity. Khestral is Director of Quality assurance, so what Quality does he assure? Unless someone is coding the gaming there's nothing to assure, unless he assures the quality of MR Whiting's tea and biscuits along with his soundbites! So the only one who might be involved day to day would be Khestral, but hold on I thought they were all working so hard they had no time to post news right? So how come the Director of quality assurance has time for this and posting on the forums everyday? He should be run off his feet according to the FanOri, right? In short none of it adds up, unless you realize these guys are just talking heads for Gary Whiting, inorder to keep the belief alive that there is still a product left. I choose Brad Wright over the three stooges myself, if there is a SGW it won't have CME anywhere on the box, but you're right only time will tell. |

Like I said you are going to believe what you want. =) |
