This game was a decent game when it was first released. I had lots of fun with, but thats when it only cost 9.99 a month to play and before Bordiel left the dev team.

Now the game is garbage. They have it so rigged up that Wizards can tank, Bards can be the groups main healers.

Were-forms are utter garbage, and this year theyve added vampire forms. The raid mobs on the game are all exploitable in some way, items are way over powered

Every tank class now can wield the Shadow Knights level 49 EPIC weapon as a 1hander total garbage.

As for those hunt and gather quest herbs and roots, thats a great idea however a low level character does not benefit from this as level 60 toons camp these low level mobs to farm the herbs and roots to sell in the auction, So unless you have a level 60 or alot of tunar you wont be doing that quest pickclaws is the same way.

Game charges 14.99 now a month also. Just really isnt worth the money. all tanks can now wear robes as theyve added a new robe drop in the game for tanks and it drops like common loot so every tank has it. someone said earlier the game has 20k people . not even close clw at peak times maybe has 200 ppl online at most, and you cant ever get a real exp group as everyone expects a power level or they wont group.

So ya waste your money.

Yeah, you're right about everything you posted. However, around the time that the expansion was released, this was a very good game. All of the new implements that you talk about were added because EQOA's plunged dramatically, and the devs just didn't care about the game enough.

Only EQOA diehards play now. Those same EQOA diehards would disagree that EQOA is "a waste of money", simply because they've enjoyed the game up intil now.

I think most people on this thread would agree with you everything you say, but then again, most people on this thread have moved on and just reminisce about the great game that was EQOA.

This game was great for a while. I loved playing it but grinding is just boring. Lack of content is what killed it. There are diehards who still play but those are just people who are to afraid to move on. If you read the EQOA forums a great number of posts are of the "what would you like to see " or "What's your  EQOA wishlist" type of thing. Reason for that is whwn you don't have much, you wish for what you don't have. You talk about how "the game is what you make of it" while true to a degree you also pay a fee for SOE to make something of it, and they don't. So I know people say it's great and defend it from it's detractors but really the truth is, it's a game that didn't get enough love. So if you like standing around at camp and killing the same monsters repeatedly, and you like developers that promise you things and never deliver, and take things away for no reason and make you wait over a year to get them back, enjoy!

This was and is still my favorite mmo even though I haven't played for probably four years lol..

I started in 2003 at 13 or 14 years old, first mmo and played for two years with some breaks in between and only made it to lvl 54 on my necromancer.

I agree, playing with a controller is so much better, I noticed the combat was faster paced than PC mmos, especially tanking..
I just loved exploring the huge area of norrath, finding new grinding spots, new dungeons, a small town of five people with a banker in the middle of a zone that was never used, etc etc..

I also loved trying to raid lady noxx before frontiers was released...that was always a good chaotic time..

But the thing I enjoyed the most, as everyone has stated, was the community, with the exception of a few notorious trainers, everyone was awesome and extremely nice..

I eventually settled on the Proudpine Outpost server when it was added and stayed on it with the same people for pretty much the whole two years. .unfortunately..I have lost contact with all of them over the years as I was new to the internet and quite nubbish.

I think about starting the game up again every now and then for the hell of it but the new monthly price and the thought of the chance ruining my sweet memories...plus..it was pretty hardcore grind and I just don't have the time any more.  If they ever released a new version on PS3, I'd buy a ps3 and play it lol

I was actually looking for a new mmo, saw EQOA on the list and just had to stop by and look at it..then I saw this post and I just had to reply..this might even be my first post on MMORPG...

Anyways, Happy Hunting!

EQOA was my first MMO and I played it from 2003 till the release of EQ2 for PC. I raided endgame as well and I can say those memories are the fondest I have in my MMO gaming life. Made great freinds, had great times, the Original and Frontiers expac of EQOA was fantastic! I just wish they had continued to expand the game and add content.

Time to kill the dragon!!!

EQOA Forever!

Current Games:
Lightbearer/Medic ~ Fallen Earth
Past Games: WOW, AION, LOTRO, EVE Online, EQ2, EQOA, AO,Tabula Rasa, Warhammer, AOC

Lol I remember getting into the game and pretending to be hit when my character got hit back when I was a kid =)

Was there really any dragons in the game cause I swear I played for a long time and explored ALOT of places by myself for hours into the morning just to find that DRAGON I SEEN IN THE COMMERCIAL AND ON THE BACK OF THE GAME and I never found it :(

I went to the places NOBODY went to (you know the places where if you die you respawn in some random small NPC village in the middle of nowhere and literally had to walk for hours to get back to civilization and even then there's some chance you would die a couple times trying to get back)

Long live the antlion! I remember him aggroing on me from a football field away and casting something that did like a billion damage. Haha fun times, but really you would think something that had the name ANT-LION would be something other than a giant purple slug? EQOA was a good experience, but sometimes they really fell flat in the creativity department such as the same inventory images for different items.

if you had a pre-frontiers disc theres 3 dragons i can think off.

the first was a 3day timed spawn in box canyons .the southern entrance valley theres a tunnel going down at the valleys far end into a cave

vox castle has a timed spawn (every 24 hours i  think) for an ice dragon inside the castle on the top lvl thru the fake wall with a picture on it.

the village of brog fens has a random 3day(ish) spawn guy near the  well (named cordell or something) that sets off a quest to spawn a dragon  in the elephants graveyard zone

theres a professor (random spawn) about 2 hills north of  the coast in milas  reef zone. tells you to collect 3 items to spawn  a giant squid called kratos in the water near the giant whale skeletons

lastly theres also quest to spawn a giant spider called  terrorantula near the endless tower but i forget which npc gives it.

theres a few other rare bioss-spawns but  i retired a year ago and forgot a lot. most of the 60 players  ingame should be able to point you in the right  direction  tho..

with the introduction of frontiers expansion and the new Zaoran plateau areas theres now a whole bunch of large end bosses to kill but theyre mainly requiring a alrgish guild raid to spawn n kill..

good luck ingame .

No wonder I never saw it. Seems most of them were only quest spawns and the rest huge spawn times. I guess they didn't want some random wanderer dying from the monster. Thanks for the info.  Hopefully I can get some time and log in to try and take some on. I know my accounts problably been deleted by now though =/

Oh well I always like starting out from scratch and learning the game over anyway. The best part of the journey is getting from noob to mid-high level :)

You guys should come back, ALOT has changed! Btw Castle Lightwolf is still the most populated server and jfyi they don't delete accounts unless you were banned for some reason.
