Ok, I have a limited history in the MMORPG genre; I have played WoW, FFXI, Guildwars and AoC.

~I have played WoW since release and am sick of trying to keep up with PvP and PvE, it seems at times like a part time job and creates stress for me. I also think the community is lacking, to many young kids with attitudes who ruin groups and raids over immature issues. I enjoy ingame playing mechanics though, combat is smooth and fun. Also classes are developed well, even if not balanced perfectly (ie hybrid classes vs pure classes)

~FFXI was in my opinion unsoloable after level 20, being as I have a randomized schedule to play games it makes finding consistent people to group with hard. I quit due to not being able to solo, other than that it was a good game from what I experienced.

~Guildwars appeals to the casual gamer, however it is too casual for me. I need more depth as far as content and character development goes (ie. high level cap) Also seemed to be heavily focused on PvP. Not really a big fan of PvP in general.

~AoC was interesting, until I realized you do some part of the game at night and some in day...the whole concept threw me off and I didn't like it at all. I enjoyed combat somewhat and class selection however that part of the game I mentioned really threw me off. Enough said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I am looking for!

+ No PvP if possible

+ Character customization

+ Soloable to level cap with all classes

+ Mature community for the most part

+ Viable rogue class, similar to WoW's but not exact

+ Stuff to do at endgame other than hardcore raiding

***Please contribute any knowledge of a game you would think is for me and some reasoning behind your decision please. I appreciate any constructive feedback posters leave. :)

Have a great day!

Um, I think LOTRO might fit your criteria. It is similar to WoW in many respects, but the community is much more mature for the most part. It has some interesting classes, all fairly capable of soloing. There is burglar, which is a stealth class, but plays a little differently than a rogue. There is also a lot of customization options with the outfit system. It allows you to display clothing that is purely for aesthetic value while still getting the bonuses from your armor. There is a lot of PVE content, and there is a little PVP, but there's no need to participate if you're not interested in that kind of thing.

Everquest II might be worth a try.

It has a trial so I won't advertise it.

Seriously I would try The Chornicles of Spellborn... The post you posted sounded like something I would write... so if we have similar taste and thoughts.. download and try Spellborn for free. It's still in beta but still more polished than some other MMOs that have already been released.  LotRO and EQ2 (if you are like me) will give you the same problem that WoW game you.. while D&D:Online will give you similar problems to GW... although I did enjoy LotRO so that would be my second suggestion.

Playing: Star Wars: The Old Republic
-----------------
Excited for: Guild Wars 2

Have Played: World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI, Guild Wars, Lord of the Rings Online, Vanguard, City of Heroes/Villians, EverQuest 2, Tabula Rasa, Dungeons & Dragons Online, The Chronical of Spellborn, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan. Champions Online, Aion
-----------------
Favorite MMO: Final Fantasy XI

LoTRO is a great game but has become to complicated in my opinion. This game is graphics heavy so if you don't have a decent machine you might not be able to play it. Like most other MMORPGs this game suffers from the "If you not lvl 60, beat it!" attitude. You will find few to no groups at low levels and leveling solo is long winded and boring. Other then that its probably the game for you. This game has some of the best PVE content and next to Everquest 2 is the most diverse. The PVP is for level 50 and higher I believe so you won't have to worry about getting ganked at low levels. The Legendary weapon system they just added is a cool idea but I haven't been able to try it yet.

Take natuxatu's suggestion with a grain of salt. He recommends The Chronicles of Spellborn to everyone and can relate to everyone's post it seems. I tried it after seeing him post it on nearly every suggestion thread and find it to be mediocre at best. I don't see this game going anywhere. Requires you to pay after level 7.

So lets go over what we've learned...
What I am looking for!
+ No PvP if possible
EQ2 (PVP or PVE servers are your choices)
LoTRO (not until 50)

+ Character customization
EQ2 (Extensive character customization. A selling point at launch)
LoTRO (simple choices A,B,C model)

+ Soloable to level cap with all classes
EQ2 (early level are extremely soloable. gets tougher as you level but nothing to difficult. End game has the most raiding of any MMORPG with over 50 bosses)
LoTRO (Soloable but to a grinding point. Quests are fun and well thought out. Won't be getting good gear or completing storyline quests without group at later levels)

+ Mature community for the most part
EQ2 (PVP servers are riddled with children, but that won't be a problem on PVE)
LoTRO (No complaints about the community here)

+ Viable rogue class, similar to WoW's but not exact
EQ2 (2 vaible rogue classes each focusing on different aspects of rogue combat)
LoTRO (Burglar class is extremely fun, but not easy to solo with)

+ Stuff to do at endgame other than hardcore raiding
EQ2 (Housing is exceptionally awesome in this game. You have many choices and are allowed themed furniture. Armor racks allow you to place suits of armor in your house that you find questing, this way you never has to throw away your favorite gear and can keep it on display. Also has pets and pet battle system although its not used by the players.)
LoTRO (Housing here is cookie cutter but still enjoyable. Endgame consists of raiding and PVP)

I know this only covers two games but I believe both are the best choices. They both offer a trial so I suggest you give them both a go.

Well I am gonna check out EQ2 and LotRO and see which one grabs me during the trial period. I read about both and also checked out other forum posts and they might be for me.

Also, in general what would be the *best* class at soloing in each game?

Thanks in advance!

I'm actually just getting into EQ2 myself and I like it a lot, but I just thought that LOTRO might be more what this is guy is looking for. But I say try them both, they are both great games and both beat WoW IMO.

I don't know if its me, but is the LotRO trial link down? Everytime I tried to click it to download the game and try it out it said they said it was under maintenence. Someone let me know what the deal is? Thanks!

They seem to be undergoing maintenance because they are doing a free week to get back old members for their new expansion. Should be over today or tomorrow.
