Anyone playing AOC these days know if they have done itemization upgrades yet ?

I remember at launch the items had very little effect on stats and such. Also I recall wearing a brown potato sack for most of the game.

Curious if any of these things have changed, if so i would come back.

Not yet, re making the item stats more important.  This is scheduled to arrive in patch 1.05.  The next patch due is 1.04, which should be hitting the live servers.

As for the look, well, there is a bit more variety, but it's slow in coming.  To get most of the interesting or different armour skins you need to go to an area with elite mobs for the most part, so many of the nice skins are hard to get for solo players.  If you like group play, however, there is a reasonable degree of variety.

That said, there are now recipes in the game allowing more interesting pieces of armour to be made, but these will generally be costly as the raw materials used to make them aren't cheap.

This refers to both the "city" and "culture" armours, by the way.

As an aside, if you have light or medium armour, there seems to be less variety in the look that a solo player can lay their hands on, which is kinda unfortunate for barbs, rangers and priests.  However, at low levels, there are the "Nemedian" and "Vanir" items (all green) which can offer a little variety.

If itemisation is what matters to you, then the best time for you to come back might be around patch 1.05 when the items (and system as a whole) are getting an overhaul.  If you do decide to come back, I'd also suggest that., to get the more interesting loot, you need to team up with others and enter the instanced dungeons.

Ah damn!  Yeah, that's true, especially with some sets (I love the bear shaman PvP set).

However, getting to a PvP rank where one can wear the main parts of these sets of armour does take a lot of time, I'm told.....and will take a heck of a lot longer for me, as I'm on a PvE server.

Amendment to earlier post : Forgot to add - Patch 1.04 should be going live next week, although I'm guessing that patch 1.05 will need to stay on Testlive for quite some time after 1.04 is out.

Aside from guild wars (better game more popular game) and the sims, when did looking pretty override stats and functionality?

We  know Funcom will only add a few new bosses every 9 months + but still, why play?

Sounds great. I really hope they do a good job of fixing the items and such. As far as grouping, i prefer it actually. I miss conan but i left because of the itemization issues and the potato sack lol.

Looking pretty has always been important to me haha.

Thanks all.

One of my pet peevs was stats meaning noda, heck stats were broken in the begining.

But with the dire lack of content,it's pretty silly to expect stats to mean anything.......I meanafter 18 months AoC will have the equivalent of moltant core in WoW, though do to poor game mechanics, the content is easier/buggy/boring.

Try to compare to LOTR, WAR'S four 6 mans, EQ2, EQ1, WoW, it's a joke how little there is to do really.

Just checking in on this once again. Like to come back, but want to know if itemization has changed much since launch. It always seems like something coming at some point...
