So bored I'm posting on a forum...

I need something new!

Cancel first, all MMORPGs at the moment are pretty much turds or shadows of their former selves. I'm building a new system waiting for something new, Earthrise is top of my list but I may check out JG:E and then there's Fallout. If you want to play something try an FPS or maybe freelancer or Mass effect, I play MoO3 until my gaming rig is ready. Then I'll be looking at Empire total war.

ATM all MMORPGs are shit, FACT!

You are playing Masters of Orion III? wow... I thought that people forgot about that game. Actually, I would either play MoO II or one of Stardocks games and Masters of Orion III just didn't turn out well.

Best post yet.

I never can understand that idea of people getting bored. Probably because when I was young, and I would tell my mother I was bored, she would say "either you find something to do or I'LL find you something to do".

Was never, ever bored again.

Learning that my time was my own to make of what I want was one of the best lessons I ever learned.

Today's MMORPG model, essentially, is that the vast majority of the games are substantially the same in content, linearity, features, customization, and so forth.

The only difference is the lore.

We need NEW, INNOVATIVE, CREATIVE features - not just a different genre (sci-fi, fantasy, etc.)

Runescape, after 5 years im only rank 20,000

It will take you 1 year to finish all quests. 2 years to try every boss and successfully kill it. About 6months-3 year to be good at pvp, depending on the level range (max bonus, quest items, skills, understanding mechanics).

Try the new game called Battleforge. Its a CCG inspired RTS with polished online play that is very solid.

I also agree with cancelling some subscriptions if a players can't find anything to do in six MMOs.

The only thing left for us to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us...

TCoS has only been in open beta since March 20th, I have a hard time believing you are already bored of it after a week...but maybe it's not your cup o' tea. Like others here I would add the whole Real Life (tm) game is a lot of fun & has far more to do than any MMO ever will. Good Journeys

First you should cancel all the games with a monthly fee. You can always return to them later but there is no use in paying to be bored, you can do that for free.

Then you should consider if you should take a break from MMOs or try something else. Sometimes a few months break is a good way to get get sparkle back.

Otherwise there are some games worth a try: EQ2, Vanguard, WAR and AoC are all worth trying, you might get bored on any of them too of course or they might not work at all for you but the first 3 have free trials (and for the first 2 of them you can just start to pay without buying a box if you like what you see. EQ2 and VG are mainly PvE, WAR PvP and AoC a mix.

Or you can try a game from another genre to get some change. Good luck anyways :)

I think it would be safe to say that if you quit those games you might feel a bit edgy but just give it some time and let the addiction fade.

I hear you ...if you are bored subscribing to 6 six MMO's this is a serious problem. Please ignore those people  who have responded with suggestions like "read a book ...go for a hike ....go outside " ...we both know that those activities are just illusions of fun compared to playing an MMO.In life  your measure of stimulation  is obviously measured by what you get from an MMO

I would suggest subscribing to more MMO's ...I see Vanguard and none of the Sony games are on your list ?Also there are some excellent single player RPGS out there e.g Kings Bounty ,Drakensang ,Fallout 3 etc etc You could get to at least 12 games that you could actually take turns in playing .....I know what you thinking...." what about sleep " ?

Naaaahh...forget that..sleep when you dead .Uppers will keep you going .I know you can survive on 3-4 hours a day and then the weekend you can really do a  MMO marathon ..14-16 hours a day .This is the only way you will ever have fun again

Let me know how it go's :)

Thank you, I was afraid common sense was lost, but hey here it is.....thanks.......

Never understood this "I am bored", as like you say it's something a person has full control over into letting him/her self get bored, and if people get to that point that it only means they continued to long with something they actualy did not like to start with.

Or....being bored has a different meaning these day's, I will say this that I don't really enjoy the direction this genre is heading, but then again not playing any "released MMORPG's or MMO's", is this what I now should label as being bored with most current MMO's or MMORPG's ?

I rather see it as those games just not being the right one's for me and keep hopes that one day THAT MMORPG will surface that I will enjoy again.

Itinerant MMO player.

If you need something new in the MMO genre, why not try out some of the more niche games like A Tale in the Desert? Or how about Ryzome? These games offer pretty different play from the ones you mentioned, so why not give them a shot? The game list here is pretty comprehensive. I'm sure you can find something that will at least entertain you for a little while.

Back in EvE. Started with BatMUD. Main MMOs have been EvE and DAoC.

Soloin' ur mobs.

Something that hasn't been suggested yet .. consider a "fresh start" in one of those games you mentioned.

I did it; returned to the genre after an 18 month hiatus and decided to re-roll onto a different WoW server/faction/class.

When we play an MMO for a long time and get bored, we have a tendancy to think that the reason that we're bored is that we've experienced everything that the game has to offer; when the likely truth is that we're bored because we've been doing the SAME few things for an extended period of time.

Re-rolling gave me a fresh perspective; I'd always played a "tank" class in the past so this time I decided to try a pure balls-to-the-wall DPS class and I'm still having fun with it 6 months later. Abandon the familiar and broaden your perspectives.

Master of Orion 3? Wow its a suprise people still remember it. Have they fixed it? It was the biggest dissapointment I ever had in a computer game. I loved MoO AND MoO2 but 3 was virtually unplayble when it came out.The AI would cancel out all my choices after each turn. It was the only game I ever played that liked to play by itself.

If you want to try really good MMO's try EQ2 or Vanguard. But in truth if all these games bored you, it's probably not the game at fault but the genre. What makes a MMO worth playing is the community and social aspect of the games. The friends , the drama , the interactions in the game. Everything will become stale after a point i time. MMO will last longer than a single player game but eventually the point of , been there done that , will catch up with you. The difference between a sinle player game and an MMO, is that you have someone by you , to bitch about how bored you are and can do something stupid to pass the time.

MoO 3 peeved me off at first, but they patched it. So if you patch to version 1.25 it's quite playable with bugs worked out though. I play it every now and again alongside Crusader Knights as this is an old PC and my new rig won't be ready for a while yet. Once my new rig is complete I'll be playing Empire Total War until Earthrise is ready.

Don't get me wrong, this is what I do when I want to play the computer. I do have a real life but it consists of paying bills and looking after my son (single father).

Well, if you're not interested in finding a good "outdoors" hobby, then do a little digging for a good single/multi-player game.  I picked up Civilization IV (never played the older ones) a couple weeks ago and damn, that is with out a doubt the most addicting video game I've ever played.  These mod-friendly games are, IMO, a better buy than MMOs right now.  You get better, more challenging game play and a pretty good amount of content.
