hi all

i just returned from a 6 months break and i see that my client takes FOREVER to load

for now i tried the login screen, new char, and load old char, and it take WAY too long

by a lot of time i mean that i hear the music loop twice just to boot the new player screen

i have a good machine, since the gameplay is perfect, so i would like to know what may be the cause of this

thanks

considering you didnt change your PC, and knowing that the loading screen means that game stuff (textures etc...) is being loaded from your hard drive to your memory, i would say that the problem is either that AoC client have much less RAM available than it used to have before or your HDD is so full and badly fragmented.

thats all i can think of since your gameplay is perfect...

about the HD, i doubt it, since i have 4x1tb HD's and i tried moving the folder into another one, with no positive result

Could it be the amount you set for cache texture size?

For trial and error you might see what settings do for you, start from low, then med, then high and see if you notice a difference in load times? If you got the patience for that.

Just some thoughts, don't know if they will help.

Also try to do a, Verify / Repair on the client. Maybe you got a corrupt file or something.

You should also uppdate all your drivers ;)

Also want to make a mention on the updated drivers to make sure you also have the latest DirectX installed.
