Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new game.  I'm already bored of WoW again, as Wrath really hasn't held my interest.

Games I've played: FFXI, WoW, LOTRO, AOC, Warhammer.

I've tried several others, if they have a free trial, chances are I've given it a shot.

So what do I want in my game?

-Storyline - FFXI did this really well.  I liked the idea of cutscenes in the game as it gave me a reason to fight whatever baddie I was attemping to kill.

-Teamwork - Again FFXI did this well with the skillchain system. I know LOTRO has something similar but never got high enough to see how it worked.

-Art Design - WoW has good world based art direction, FFXI had cool armor designs.  LOTRO was kind of boring and my character often got to choose between a green shirt of a red one.

-Classes - I like being able to change my class in FFXI, Vanguard/Warhammer had a lot of classes, even guild wars allowed multiclassing.  I like in AOC, WoW the idea behind skill trees.  Basically I want some exciting, diverse classes.  LOTRO seemed really limited in their class design, and WoW has so few.

-PVP - I like pvp if it is implimented well and for a reason.  I like the rival factions in WoW, but there was never any reason other than grear to PVP in WoW.  Something like Warhammer, or AoC was nice because taking keeps, attacking cities was cool and more exciting than just ganking lowibes.

-Crafting and Economy - I liked the player based economy of FFXI.  Games like WoW where you get all your gear from quests isn't as rewarding.  I like meaningful crafting, something that actually rewards you for doing it.  But really, not a necessity.

Some dislikes of popular games:

-Gear grind - my single biggest gripe with WoW.  Its all gear grinding.  Yay, we downed 25man naxx, now we grind gear, now 3.1 comes out and a whole new instance and we have to gear grind all over again.  Yay, new expanion all that work is meaningless now.  It just isn't rewarding.

-Skill based on numbers - Kind of the same argument.  better gear = better player?  No thanks.  In FFXI gear wasn't that important.  It had its place and it certainly made life easier, but it wasn't the end all, be all.

-"Plastic PCs" - EQ2 is a great example.  The characters just aren't exciting.  It all looks so plastic and fake and not cool.

-Heavy use of instances - I believe they have their place.  FFXI, and LOTRO did a decent job.  When you have a storyline element, or a big battle, you go into an instance.  However 90% of FFXIs endgame is open world.  Guild Wars is all instanced, I like to see players when I'm running around so I join in quests, socialize etc.

----------------------------------

Really, I loved FFXI and I still do.  I just don't have the time that it takes to do anyting in the game.  I want a game that is rewarding and has a good community.  I want "meaning" behind my adventures, and for the game to be able having a good time, and progression, making friends, not just about getting to max level and getting the highest stats possible.

I'm looking at vanguard, lotro (again, just feels kind of generic), city of heros as a few that I might be trying out soon.  Aion looks pretty cool in the future.

So experts, any games out there that will grab me, or is there any on the horizon that look to fit what I want?

If a man does his best, what else is there?

I guess I'll be the first to say this cause i'm sure someone else will at some point.  The game is not out yet but it will have, from what i can tell, what you're looking for.  Mortal online is taking beta apps right now so you can try to get into the beta soon plus the game i hope will be out within a year.  It's gonna be first person view though and no option for third person at all.  It reminds me of Oblivion with the way it looks.  They are using the Unreal Engine so it will look good and it's a sandbox so you can choose the skills you wanna level and create your own class.  Go to www.mortalonline.com and check it out if you haven't yet already.  As far as games that are out right now, I don't think there is one that would be everything you are looking for since you have played most of the p2p games that are decent.  I am also assuming that you have played Vanguard.  If not def. give that game a go but you said vanguard had lots of classes so guess you have played it or at least read up on it.  Good luck but I would wait for MO or Earthrise and try to find something to sustain you til then.
