"Gilly? Did you just shoot me in the foot?"... "mmm...Ssawwy" |
Trying desparately to download DAoC by using Mythic's ancient patcher program. Needless to say, I kept getting error after error and finally said screw it. Now I had to figure out which game to play to compensate for WoW's lack of PvP focus. Enter AoC... I played AoC when it launched, which was probably the first mistake any of the fans of the game could have done. Cause frankly, it was a complete disaster. However, the game now has become so enjoyable that I might go out on a limb and claim it to be my #3 all time favorite MMO. #1 being EQ and #2 being DAoC... Anyway, the game still requires a decent system to run in high graphics, but it is truely the most immersive MMO I have ever played. The graphics, the combat, sound effects ( especially kills and spells ) and music. Don't get me wrong though, Funcom is still a piss poor company in a multitude of areas, but the game is starting to shine. So, until they get off their arses, start fixing bugs from launch and allowing paid character transfers, I will reserve my enthusiam. The game has come a long way, but when your plate was piled a mile high to begin with, they got a long way to go for perfection. Anyhow, I'll be playing AoC now as WoW is just... meh. |

Your right about it needing a decent system. I think the effects payoff and they will for the game over time as ppl upgrade. I feel the same as you do about immersion, all the different sounds effects are fun and although sometimes I wish the zones were larger I do appreciate their diversity and contents. I am looking forward to Tartantia Commons playfield when it comes out. Character transfers will come soon. New Tarantia Commons DX10 - DX 10 Goodness - |

Alright,.... I played beta and avoided launch. I really agree with all your statements. When I get paid this week I'm going to give it a shot again. Where should I play? I heard their are not many servers? |

There is still some good choice in servers, overall the game has 26 + Korean ones inclusive all languages. North American are the ones in Blue, the ones with the stars underneath are the ones that got merged into the blue ones.: Fresh Start Servers: Agony PvP Ironspire PvE
Wiccana (PvE) Gwahlur (PvE - Oceaninc) Tyranny (PvP) Cimmeria (PvP-RP) Bloodspire (PvP - Oceanic) - merged on 7th January 2009) Agony, Ironspire and Bloodspire don't have the best populations at the moment. Can't really go wrong for population on the others. All depends on tastes. Best the read the sever specific Official forums to find which you like the look of really. I heard Agony is doing alright - populationwise. There are guilds forming as well as population now start to get to a level where grouping is reasonably efficient in peak hours. If you are a guy that will be bothered with the PvP craze currently on Tyrrany and at the same time don't want a PvE server you might want to considder Agony. I have heard little about Ironspine. |

For PVE servers i would recommend either Set or Wiccana. For PVP servers i would recommend Cimmeria-rp, Cimmeria is a rp server but you dont have to rp if you dont whant to, i heard it has a more friendly community then Tyranny. ( Cimmeria and Tyranny are the 2 most populated pvp-servers ).
