I draw my conclusions from years of experience...being assaulted in almost every game I've played by armies of asian spammers and gold sellers. You may say it's "not fair", but the facts speak for themselves. Elaborate systems have to be created and implemented to combat the spam and bullshit that would otherwise render most MMOs unplayable. You think these vermin are above artificially inflating a game's ranking on a website? Hardly! But please...don't misunderstand me. This is not an insult to asians...I have no problem with them, I assure you. But the FACT (fair or not) is that the spamming, botting, gold farming etc is done by asian companies.

Why?are you amazed that this game has this feature where in you don't have to invest much?...then you can earn gold... BUT WITHOUT USING BOT! is that how you call it? we don't need to used spam bot if we can earn gold in a simple way.. You haven't try this game aren't you? so, you really don't have an Idea how this Fishing and crafting works... I was laughing so hard, coz your telling things you don't know... :) sorry but I love the feature of the game, it's a community that you need to know the demand and supply like in real world... so I'm happy that the game allow gamers to invest and earn... that's it.
Like what I've said, don't talk if you really don't know the game your talking about.. :)

For me it's number 1 because its a fresh game with new innovative features. Now a days most MMORPGs just copy each others features. Atlantica Online brought about new concepts for the online gaming scene. Its what players are looking for, new things. |

Not as hard as I was laughing at your sad attempts at forming sentences. I DO know what I am talking about..I gave the game a try, as I've said before. Even if it's not a bad game, it sure as HELL doesn't deserve the #1 ranked spot, and has been placed there via vote spam scripts.

I could only speak for myself. although i've only tried a few browser games so far, this one seems to be the best. i just started playing this game and i've gotten quite hooked with the free league. its a special battle system wherein you can fight other players along the same bracket. when i get bored doing quests (sometimes it gets too repetitive), i participate in a free league. |

I love Atlantica Online, and I still cant believe it's free-to-play! I have tried numerous ftp games and they all sucked, mobgrinding asian ripoff games without depth... but this, even the uber cheesy storyline is amusing, the battle system rocks, the grinding is fun, the quests are fun, the community is great, I am only a level 22 cannoneer but damn! I have fun! Still have to find out how higher levels are, what the end-game cocntains and how much the items from the item mall count in the W/L ratio of pvp...
but damn, fun! Atlantic Online #1 and that comes from a narcistic and sarcastic gamer who gave up hope on all MMO's! And trust me I've played every single MMO there is! Except DarkFall, that game failed 4 years ago :-) Playing EVE Online (PM me for the EVE 21-day trial program) |

For me aftyer playing a lot of MMORPGs throughout the years all i can say is that Atlantica Online is way better than anything i've played in the past. It has a lot of features and the graphics are decent for a Free to Play game... Again, this game is not for everybody. A lot of people are not fond of the turn-based batlle system since they are more into the hack and slash aspect of other MMORPGs in the market. Once they get past this they would realize that Atlantica Online is a better game than what they assumed. I like Atlantica Online because it is different and innovative. I like to do strategies during PVPs (heck, this is the 1st MMORPG that i really like the PVP aspect of the game). Number 1? not yet at this moment. There are still a lot of great games out nowadays and many more would be released soon. But for me Atlantica Online is currently the best MMORPG released. |

IT doesnt matter to me if the game is #1 or 200......Judge each game by its own merits......if it is a game you like then great, if it isnt move on.......AO has alot of innovative features and plays very different from any other MMO.......It probably came at a good time when there were so many WoW clones out that alot of people like that its a fresh breath of air.........Like alot of people said the turn based style isnt for everyone but if you try it with an open mind you might just like it because it is so different........ |

I'm in the process of trying this game, it seems pretty interesting. But I can say the biggest barrier to entry for me at the moment is the crappy Final Fantasy art direction. [rant] Why must my dude look like a lady? I swear he even has breasts, and not decent fat man-boobs like I have, I'm talking petite teen girl breasts. OK? My avatar is supposed to be a MAN, not a gender-bender. Men have hair on their nutsacks and their faces. They do not shave their legs and they do not wax poetic about the gallons of hair gel it would take to achieve the wussified haircuts there are to choose from. I'm a man - I like to drink beer and watch naked women dance, I fart a lot, I am prone to randomly head-butting people and have a gloriously hairy muffin-top waistline that showcases my pimply butt crack. Sigh ... this is why I don't play JRPGs. [/rant] Other than that, I will slog through the torpid wasteland of moody teen metro-sexuals because I am very interested in the gameplay. EDIT: OK So I just got down with playing for a few hours. The game is pretty enjoyable in terms of how it is structured. It is a little rough, but nothing that I've noticed would make me not want to play the game. The JRPG-esque battles are pretty addicting and I can appreciate the added strategy that must go into each one. Haven't touched on crafting yet. So far I like it. Even if I feel like a Disney version of Robert Smith from the Cure. |

this is old-school but it pretty much says everything about Atlantica...before the 704 patch though... hahaha! im too lazy to update now. hahahha! (i think ive posted this on some old threads but i hope it can help you understand the game more) here it goes....
Game Analysis System Battle ? Axe – Viking[C]/Beast Trainer[C] In-battle attacking is being ran by a turn-based system which is very unique amongst the mmorpgs present nowadays. It makes in-game battling with monsters/enemies more comfortable and more efficient for users in terms of: a) Damage dealing – the more players you can use to attack, the more damage you can inflict to the enemies It is not based on a grinding or the hack and slash battling mode for leveling where the players have to kill and kill enemy units just for them to level their character and mercenaries up but the game has its questing system. The questing system provides users a variety of resources for them to level-up. Quests are chronologically arranged starting with the lowest level (1) up until the highest (120). Side quests are also present which are mainly for additional mercenaries which are also known as the Class C mercenaries. This class of mercenaries possesses additional skills which will come in handy in higher-level quests. Party System In-game Features Arena Betting Another unique feature in the game where you can spectate and bet on AI-controlled characters battling each other for first place. This feature gives an alternative to players when they are tired of questing or when they are not doing anything, plus, they can earn gold without any difficulties. Free League A unique feature of the game, alongside with arena betting, that separates Atlantica Online from the rest of the mmorpgs. It is a friendly competition where the participants/competitors could gain respect (fame points), items for trade and have practice for themselves in future unfriendly PVP combat through joining this free league.

I did not enjoy this game at all. Turned based is not my cup of tea. I have played LOTRO for one year now and have to say I have yet to find a better game (although that might change with AION). The game has decent graphics but not up to par with LOTRO. For a free to play game (not really as there is a cash shop and cash shop games can end up costing way more than pay to play games on a month to month basis) it's not bad. I just cannot get into the turn base fighting system (guess it's because I am not Asian?). The game is now deleted from my computer as I saw no point in keeping a game I did not enjoy. |

I dont understand how gold-farmers relate to this game and the votes? As the other person said that there are features in the game in which you can pretty much BOT yourself and make your own gold pretty much negates the fact gold-sellers are needed. Also, the game has a cash item mall in which players can actually spend money (if they so choose to) to buy items that will enhance their own gameplay, which pretty much makes asian gold-sellers useless in this game. The BOTS you are referring to is not limited to ASIAN BOTTERs as you would say. Everyone in the game can do it. So the economy is not skewed because of Gold Sellers. Why dont you take your comments about the gold-sellers and apply it to WoW, WAR, FFXI, and other MMORPG out there in which you probably think deserves to be #1. The fact that NDOORs created a method in which eliminates the gold-sellers would also reduce the fact that those same gold-sellers you are referring to would want to increase this games population. If there are no gold-sellers in the game, why would those same gold-sellers spam votes to increase their non-existent consumer base? Please understand the game before making stupid comments about something you never even step foot into. Based on your logic of gold-sellers spamming votes for this game, i just negated it. ive played WoW, Ive Played FFXI, i played WAR, and I HAVE BOUGHT GOLD/GIL on both WOW and FFXI. In Atlantica Online, I DONT NEED TO BUY GOLD because there are easy ways to make it myself, plus NDOORS cash item mall is a good source of income if someone chooses to buy. Unless your now saying NDOORS itself is spamming the votes on this site, then please go somewhere else. And if NDOORS is spamming the site with votes... then good for them cause its a good marketing strategy. |

But even then, it's not entirely dead.

i can tell you why the game is no. 1 it realy doenst deserve that spot and most people will find that out later on. the problem is most people play a game try it out for a few days and are already WOW WOW WOW ( no i dont mean world of warcraft LOL) awsome game its so greate turned based games this game owns. they give up there rating and later on find out that the game sucks. i was there since Beta 1 (wahooo BLUE NAME) anyways i loved the game and for the beginning it really is awsome, however after a while the game gets boring and its all the same. its a TOTAL GRIND GAME, story is the same over and over and item mall prices are way too expensive. all the quests are kill x mobs or get me x things, the story is pretty much the same everytime you get in a new town. ohh some mysterious thing is theer find out what it is, you do a few quest finding out what it is all kill x mobs or get me x stuff, once you did that you kill a boss you are told some friend or such needs help in some other town you get there and the whole thing starts from the beginning. its fun at the beginning but after a while its just boring. |

But even then, it's not entirely dead. Maybe he meant the JRPG style of combat which I think really hasn't penetrated into NA/EUR psyche excepting directly through Asian games like the Final Fantasy games. A notable exception would be the fantasy strategy game Disciples that uses combat very similar to FF (but since it's Russian does that make it Asian?). But avalon should make sure to be more precise with language perhaps, as technically turn-based gaming has been present in all cultures since Chess, Go or Mankala - even Poker or Monopoly. It's just an easy way to structure gameplay. Would one count the battle mechanics of games like Wizardry or Might and Magic 2 as being of the same style as Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy or Atlantica? The only thing they really have in common is that the fighting takes place on a separate screen. I would argue they are fundamentally different, to understand why I say this compare Wizardry to Might and Magic then compare Final Fantasy to Disciples. Each pair is very similar to its counterpart, but each pair is quite different from the other pair. Of course whether you are comparing those games or the SSI Gold Box games or the Infinity Engine games (my favorite of all of them) it is all turn-based. P.S. I am a LOTRO fan and have been at that game for quite a long time now. I think Atlantica is pretty good too, although I don't know if I will be sticking with it as I'm not sure if it is my cup of tea. But I can see how other people would like it. |
