That thread made me laugh so hard, I shot milk out of my nose.

Not saying you shouldnt be here but for such a ardent defender of everything Tasos, shouldnt you actually play or do you even have an account yet? I am voting for dont have an account but then again maybe its a better game in theory than practice since you seem to be on forums more than you are in the game you profess to fondle over. |

I am really sure that a company that needs several 10's of thousands to just break even are really kicking and perma-banning people. If they are then that is where the new accounts are coming from. Since it has always appeared ever since close beta that the server can only handle 10K total entities I am sure that they have probably cut back the NPC population in out of the way places so that more people can get in quicker thereby reducing the queue times. Half ass fixes for the lose
I actually got the number from the Darkfall official forums from people who got into the game before the counting feature of the clan page ingame was removed. There was a thread talking about the number, and it was very close to 7.5k. That was like the 2nd or 3rd day after the servers were actually up, and I know aventurine managed to fix some of the problems with botched pre-orders (though not most), so I just approximated that the initial pre-order amount was 10k. So yea, the number isn't concrete, to say the least, but it is my best estimation.

2. I'm at a place now where things are slow and have been all day, so I have time while employees do other things. Hence, the "different times" of the day.
I don't have to guess about you, though... you're pretty transparent. Since we are watching each other's posting habits:
You are a Darkfall hater troll for over two years. You predicted over/over/over it would never launch. It did. You predicted over/over/over it would fail. It hasn't. You have been nothing but fail so far for two years.
There is absolutely no reason to fear if you try it and like it. No one will make fun of you so go ahead, you might have fun. But if you are going to be a troll, be a troll. Don't pretend as if you are really presenting facts and everyone playing the game and liking it is somehow brain deficient. I've been honest in my defense of Darkfall. I'd actually, unlike you, like to see a small company make it agsinst the bigger, bloat budget companies that disappoint so often and so recently, especially in this economy. It would be a great thing for others trying to break in but can't due to the same old failures getting the checks and backing because of connections. The game is also providing some PVP fans with a form of pvp I think should be the standard: PvP with actual consequences other than die-respawn-die-respawn-die-respawn.

So I and the other 500k subscribers who played it and took off know what I'm talking about if I say the game was boring. Or crashy. Or unbalanced. Or loot bags don't work right. Or the cast lag has been in the game since alpha beta. Or Mark Jacobs said if they aren't adding servers six months out, that they aren't successful. Or the servers are merging. Or .. well you get the point ( I don't want to be here ALL day). I have been critical of Warhammer, but with reason and with first hand knowledge or widely industry wide issues.

I rarly ring in anymore, heck I was one that NEVER thought this game was going to launch but be total vaporware. While I personally believe what the devs say is utterly total bullshit, that is again my opinion. However still reading the forums here for the vast entertainment it alone brings me I have to say Popinjay is by far the best poster I have seen. Eh not because he defends or offends anything, it is just the fact he backs up what he says. I have been against Darkfall for many reasons in the past, heck just look at my history , but actually I am glad to hear they launched. Maybe there will be something here after all, I have been proven wrong and can openly admit this. So I am one who called vaporware for years and now I am proven wrong and have no problem admiting it. However still skeptical, I will wait a few months to see what happens with the community to make sure this is not another DnL or others that followed the same path. To Popinjay, No matter what is said about you man, I have to admit, you keep it real and that is something to be admired. More people should be more real and maybe the net would be a better place to visit. salu! |

Haha..Popinjay is owning this argument. You can tell people have lost a debate when they resort to personal attacks and name-callings instead of making a response at the subject. Popinjay's enemies are doing just that. |

I started reading up on this last year and everything I saw pointed to it not launching. To build a FFA open RvR PvP loot game (lotta letters there) didn't seem possible or that anyone would actually buy it when done other than the fans who followed it for years. Most PvP games I had played since Diablo had no consequences and people liked that just fine. Dying and respawning was the status quo for most of them. I really made it boring for me to see that but if people are paying for it, who am I to argue? When this game finally launched, it looked like three pissed off alleycats inside a burlap bag. It was all over the place. I really couldn't see how they were actually going to sell any games because.. they weren't actually SELLING any games. People couldn't get in there and play it, lol. Then they worked out some of that and then it only looked like two moderately peeved cats in a cotton bag. Now, the game has gotten PLENTY of reviews from bloggers and PvPers, the people who play these games most. And after some initial refamiliarization it seems, the vast overwhelming majority (looking around on differing sites) seem to be pretty happy with the overall play. While its generally agreed this game is crude in a lot of its "polish", the underlying skeleton is there: Open FFA PvP RvR play. That's all pretty much a pvper looking for can ask to be correct with their game. Crafting, PvE, Tome titles, shiny gear, mount actions, fancy emotes... that stuff is usually reserved for the people who like that watered-down PvP without consequences usually.
So yeah, I support this type of product making it, even though I am normally a PvE guy first, PvP second. Negative nancies want it to fail because somehow, it validates a wrong done to them (?) or just so they can say "You remember me.. I was the guy who predicted DF would fail TWO years ago before anyone, so I know what I'm talking about." Pffft.. Just go away. Don't go away angry, just go away. Stop making new accounts each time you get banned on EVERY site, just to try it again. You will always be flushed out by the greenish tint to your post.

Actions speak louder than words Tasos. He's been saying that since the issue they created came up. The lip service is fine, let's see the hacking and exploits taken care of then. The whole macroing issue is there because the game systems are so poorly designed. People wouldn't macro if it wasn't mind-numbingly boring and time consuming to craft or skill up. Too little to late anyway IMO. Once you have a horrendous launch and the game is commonly known to be a hacker / 'sploiter's haven, the damage is done. As usual these days, the game was released way to early, and it's paying the price. "nerf rock, paper is working as intended." - Scissors. |

The NSA should just make it illegal for anybody who ordered Dark Fall to play any other internet games for the rest of their life, as punishment for being a moron. |
|
Or, they should simply make them read their own incorrect "I told you so" posts over and over. That probably would be more torturous, because everyone already knew they were a moron in the first place.

Macroing: We are working to address it at its source, but until then we need to enforce our policies. Before we do that we will appeal to players not actually playing the game to log off rather than leaving their character in-game. This will allow more people to be able to enjoy Darkfall instead of unmanned characters taking up server space. If you’re skilling up by not playing the game as it was intended, you will be kicked and repeated offenses will result in a ban.
So are they fixing WHY people macro (AKA the game is boring) or are they just banning people that macro? Old school MMORPG Player. WTB What the Darkfall Website and the fanboi's won't tell you about Darkfall: |

/facepalm X 2 If you have a macro running, and your game is unattended they will ban you in the future. It's simple really, people macro to get an advantage it is as plain as that, I don't care what a person comes up with to say " I macro not to get an advantage but too... (Fill in the blank)".. in the end they macro to get ahead of others that don't. Still, they definitly need to resolve this quickly. As a PVP foundation of a game, that is just asking for trouble. If any game ANY that comes out is based on the concepts of PVP you really need to have your code locked down before release. Look at any FPS out there, not counting a single MMO and you will see how many go out of their way to cheat. Let's face it , it's the internet, it's a game and if they can get away with it they will. Who are they? those that play to win no matter the cost, skill or not they just get off on other people's woes. Sadly that is in our nature, have more then the next and do better then the next. The gaming scene just makes that allot easier, in the Real World, If you cheated say at poker for cash, we would just take you in the back alley and beat the living crap out of you. The only retalliation for online behaviour is to ban the offender and even that is not a 100% thing.

Originally posted by popinjay I am not a popinjay enemy or anything like that, but let's be real here, if you think WAR was bugged/unblanced/boring/crashy... Do I need to finish that? I have not played DF but I played WAR at launch. Somehow I played every day, had tons of fun, and yeah you are right, after awhile I got bored and quit. But let's not compare a "loot bag not working right" to the failure that is DF launch. They don't have a NA server, no one else can get into the game right now really, and there are many more bugs and exploits in the game than WAR. Apparently you expected too much from WAR and was let down and expected nothing from DF and have been surprised but be realistic. |
