3...2...1... "On March 21, Bioware announced the first nerf of the Bounty Hunter class...." |

Reading this all I could think of was "SWG VET?" In a class based game Bounty Hunter is a class. I imagine that they will have skills that will support their ability to to Bounty Hunt. You might not like class based games, that's understandable, but I would try it before you say they have't done anything different. They might not approach classes differently from current games but they might be applying what they do know which is how to create stories. I"m sure that they will excel in that. |

my thoughts exactly! but they said the concept of all classes in SWTOR is a heroic concept. so, no overpowerd lightsaber bots.
i think the next class preview is the preview for the elite troopers. my personal fav. |

Anyways, game balance wise, sure I'm sure they'll somehow be able to beat an equal level one but...
seriously?
So you pull out your gun, shoot, I deflect it, then crush your larynx.
That's stuff force users do ALL the time.
I love LOL the unknowing bravo. While you are crushing my larynx, I set your PJs on fire with my wrist flamer. Bet that would break your concentration. Then the dance is on again. To the one who asked if there will be crafting, trust me there will be some attempts but it will be very Half-hearted in light of "getting you into the action." The attitude is crafting is for the weak. . . . Kill your enemy. The montra of the industry is "NO WORLD BUILDING", just play the game.

Artisans spend months and even years hand-crafting the Bounty Hunters’ heavy armor to ensure it offers superior resistance to all manner of weaponry, and that each suit will still allow maximum flexibility and versatility. Offense is just as critical as defense, however, and powerful weaponry is necessary for any Bounty Hunter who might have to shoot his way out of a messy situation. It’s not unheard of for a Bounty Hunter to spend as many credits on an advanced blaster as others might spend to purchase an entire starship. |

I'd rather play a booty hunter |

Like the other person said, i agree with your post. Jedi WERE very much afraid of bounty hunters back then. They are really skilled gun users, and they have a lot of tricks that the jedi has to watch out for. |

Typically that's not the way bioware does it. The will have one Jedi class, and depending on your actions you go light side or dark side. Different powers will be available or more effective depending on the path you take. That's typical BioWare. |

With that being said they usually have cool ways to build each class. Classes are a WoW/EQ invention? Dungeons and Dragons had classes in 1974. Everquest had classes in 1999.

SO Fin cool. hopefully they can do the smuggler just as well. I always thought that MMOs could have a real smuggler class , look at EVE. I would do anything for a real smuggler, bounty hunter game system Shadowlord Sage Napa Valley, UO, 1997. |

I like the artwork on the fire. I think its great to see some of the graphical actions such as a flame thrower on the wrist. I hope Bioware is going for those little details that players will love. I am still hopeful that the game will turn out to be an engaging MMORPG for all of us with vehicles, ships, space, player living quarters, etc. |

and so it begins... another era of pve marks stuck in terrain and pvp marks locked in an upstairs guild hall. =P |

I'm actually starting to consider this game, even though I'm not much of a Star Wars mark. What Happened With SWG Went Down YEARS AGO! Please Try To Stop Whining About It In Every Thread I Read. Mourn It, And Finally MOVE ON With Your Lives! Thanks A Heap. |

Really sad to see this game going down the Class route. Nothing about Star Wars depicts people being locked into arbitrary, restricting "Classes" that define everything about them. As someone else said, Bounty Hunting is a skill, not a class. Han Solo was a Smuggler. Was that his class? No, not at all. He didn't just smuggle. He was a pilot, he was an engineer(fixed/made modifications to the Falcon), a soldier(Battle of Endor), a gunner, the list goes on. Luke was a farmer, a pilot, eventually a Jedi, a soldier, a crafter(made his lightsaber) Leia was a politicion, a soldier, a spy(Jabba's Palace in return of the Jedi), and later a Jedi. Chewbacca was a pilot, a droid engineer, a soldier, a smuggler, an engineer. Anakin was a Pod racer, a droid engineer, a pilot, a Jedi, a Sith, and a robot. I could go on and on and on. Nothing about Star Wars indicates that people are defined and restricted to a precise, fictional class. It was much like the real world where people could do anything they want if they had the SKILL to do so. Making this a class based game is simply showing they don't have the ingenuity, creativity, or the courage to try something that is more fitting for the game they are making, and instead are settling for the "standard", which is a pretty weak standard at that. Sad to see it go this way. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

Well, all the Star Wars games with rpg elements were ALL class-based. So, I was not surprised by this decision in the least. Even the table-top rpgs are class-based. At this point in my life, I'm not adverse to it. But I do completely agree with your points. Hell, I don't know if I've ever played an mmo that wasn't class-based. Sure, I played Runescape. But that was only for a week. And that was because there was someone playing it I wanted to spend time with. Other than that...? I probably wouldn't even know what to do in a non class-based game, I'd be so excited by the newness! Of course, with my p 'n p rpg background, I'd be fine. Hell, the Hero System [Champions anyone?] is point-based. Mmmm point-based goodness! What Happened With SWG Went Down YEARS AGO! Please Try To Stop Whining About It In Every Thread I Read. Mourn It, And Finally MOVE ON With Your Lives! Thanks A Heap. |

Well even though every fan of this game hates to hear this, I'll just mention to you since you don't seem to be aware of it, that the first MMORPG based off of Star Wars, called Star Wars Galaxies, USED to be completely skill based. There were 32 professions that each had 18 skills that you could mix and match as you pleased. As of 2005 the game was decapitated and molded into a cookie cutter MMO, but before that it was really unique. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

Well, thanks for mentioning it. Yeah, I'm not really much of a Star Wars fan. By the time I played SWG it was class-based. And I didn't stick with it longer than 5 or 6 hours as the game didn't feel like it was something I was looking for. Ultimately, I wasn't aware the SWG game was anything other than something former players whine about in absolutely every thread on this site. What Happened With SWG Went Down YEARS AGO! Yes, it used to be much more then the center of epic whining. I'll admit, I have whined about it a lot, and still do sometimes, but I hold back now. While SWG was my favorite game(not just MMO) of all time, I realize that it is gone(officially), and I can only hope some of it's better features, which were and still are well ahead of it's time, are implemented in future titles.
