I played Runes of Magic in the closed beta and a little bit of the open beta, but i didn't really like it too much. It still was somewhat in a different language and it was a bit laggy for me. But yesterday i went back to RoM, and I'm playing it on my new pc. And RoM is great so far, there's not too much grind and I'm having fun. No lag. And RoM is free. So I'm having a great time on RoM. |

So has the leveling had any changes from open beta to final release? -There is no such thing as a stupid task, only stupid people who don't care to do them. |

The combat system revamp supposedly slowed down the leveling by a significant amount. A paraphrase of what one of the devs or someone said was that "It allows the player to spend more time enjoying the content of the game." Something to that extent. So yea, it's slower than closed and open beta.

So the combat has slowed down, but anything different in terms of gameplay? Or is it still pretty much the same? I had a 15/7 Mage/Priest on that server, and it found it quite annoying to level... the mobs hit me for more than I could heal and I was very often doing hit and run tactics, and it took a lot of time to set up my spells before they closed the distance and started smacking on me. -There is no such thing as a stupid task, only stupid people who don't care to do them. |

I've played about a week. (minus yesterday's downtime)
I have a Mage/Priest 18/15, it has never been hard. I have a full quest log. (30) I have yet to have to grind kill things at all, beyond what the quests have you do. I met a good guild, and plan on staying a while.

I can't think of anything that significantly changed - at least in the game mechanics. It's the same deal. |

Did you even spend your TP? Even without a secondary class, lvl 15 shouldn't be hard at all for a mage, assuming you don't fight mobs several lvls above you, and assuming you fight one at a time. If you max out flame and electrostatic charge (bubble), that's actually all you need at your lvl to become almost untouchable when fighting equal mobs. If you in addition max your electric bolt, then you're even more powerful. Use a flame at max distance, and you'll have the time to use another one before mobs even reach you. That will usually kill mobs without them even touching you. And if they reach you, your bubble will absorb up to several hits while you cast a new flame. Your priest is lvl 7, you said. That means you have both urgent heal and regenerate. One more lvl and you also get holy aura, which you don't need to spend TP on, and which makes you invincible (no damage taken) for 5 secs, giving you time to cast a heal and/or use a pot. I don't understand why you're having problems, at your lvl, the game should be piss easy. And yes, I do know what I'm talking about, I have a mage41/priest (forgot exact lvl). |

Make sure you are fighting even level mobs till you are geared the way mobs scale, +2s are far difficult than in WoW where lv 15 can easily finish lv 18 quests. Currently playing: Champions Online/WoW |

RoM is about the only MMO that makes old content harder and less rewarding as time passes. The combat rewamp (which is still pretty much early beta with core changes on horizon) lowered DPS of all classes, except mages who were about doubled. At the same time all elite mobs and instance mobs were buffed. And at the same time the level based penalty was made pretty much unforgiving when you try to fight mobs above your level. I did quite a lot of killing of +5, +6 level mobs. You do not stand a chance today, you will miss half of time and get hit harder. Oh and we have free cash shop stuff from alt acounts spammed before they made it character bound. Sucks to be new. Come and have fun, lol.

I'm sorry, tyrrhon, but that's just bull! |

So almost half of XP comes from daily grind. You said it yourself. And that is for primary, for secondary you are left to grinding dailies for half of levelling. Last I checked mages are the same OP stuff as before and rogues and scouts are taken as last choices if that. Nothing changed about CC in PvP at all, making all this ballancing totally worthless for its purpose. Ballancing patches stopped cold, possibly to pretend this is stable release. Look, no serious MMO will leave so vastly OP classes in place for long, because they end up setting new standard and you have to retune everything in game up. Mages are not just OP - as scouts used to be - they are tottally out of whack. And being the only caster does not help ballance at all. I guess your statement about bosses not being easy means some parts of brand new instance are doable by half a party (3 people). And you said it, at the same time, some old stuff - ant queen - quest mob - is not possible under rewamped combat system. They forgot that by rewamping combat they will have to retune every new content because some things works differently and some skills are as good as removed. When you see some usefull CS stuff drop from bosses, let us all know. We have read the propaganda too. Besides... I do not see where I mentioned stuff you feeled the urge to reply to. And why you conveniently omited to reply to what I actually wrote. New people have it much harder today then veterans used to. That is just nonsense in MMO world. Especially since some glitches or bad decisions in past already gave them advantage beyond that. Yellow stats on random drops, clean yellows, easily farmable instances, unbound CS stuff - and that is just from top of my head.

If your whole argument was "it sucks to be new", then yes, you're right to a degree. But as you (might) know, the game went through dramatic changes from CB to OB and further to full release. To old players these changes seem (and some are) bad, or let's say they made the game more difficult than before and now the players are more careful when facing a more serious challenge because of the death penalty (which really hurts are high lvls). HOWEVER, the new players don't know how the game was, so they can't compare the current content to that was initially available or allowed in RoM. They might like it or not, but saying "it used to be super easy, now you're going to experience hell" is not the right attitude either, because you're spoiling their fun. Let them play & decide if RoM is a good game or not.

well your a mage/priest no wonder you have to do hit and run tactics. both clases such in defense. and since you have to cast to heal i think its just a bad choice of dual charackter you choosed. than again it also depends what you use your charackter for. if you solo than well duh of cource you dont stand a chacne with a mage/priest in early levels. if you party you should acctualy do fine. |

Read my reply to the post you quote (see post #7). Mage in RoM's low lvl areas is one of the easiest classes to play in any online game, even easier with heals from /priest - still it's obviously way over your heads... Don't embarrass yourselves by playing in front of others, stick to offline games with cheat codes instead. |
