I'm not trying to insult anyone here. This is just my opinion and I am neither a troll nor fanboy. IMO the "trolls" are the people who keep reading about the negative points of Darkfall in a forum such as this and then they begin to get those ideas stuck in their head and are persuaded to post those negative points of the game. This results in a chain reaction you see. Once the first few people began to be insecure about the fact that Darkfall was a new type of game, they began insulting in hopes of it being like horrible games such as Dark and Light. Most "trolls" who actually buy the game are "half-troll", they are hopeful of the fact that the game fails but they buy the game anyway. They enter the game with terrible expectations and find every reason to bash on Darkfall. Oh this and that sucks, this isn't perfect and that isn't what I want. Well heres the truth - there will NEVER be a perfect game that appeals to every person on the dam world. You need to play the game with neutral expectations and look at both the pros and cons in order to not be a troll. The "fanboys" are people who decide not to insult every problem about the game and defends those factors against the "trolls". They look at the positive parts of Darkfall and emphasize those areas - such as no target selections, massive and unique world, no levels (skill levels are there but you still can get started in the game on Day 1), etc. "Fanboys" understand the fact that there are few games similar to Darkfall as there are millions trillions billions of WoW clones on the market today. This is the only chance and the pros of Darkfall are good enough to outweigh the cons. Once the ordering/bug/queue issues are resolved, then many people will stop trolling; I have noticed that most people troll about the stupid and rocky staged release that Aventurine followed through. |

Hmm, not to be insulting, but you attributed mostly positive traits to fans, and negative traits to trolls, so hence I think you're a closet fanboi. Many trolls are skeptical that DF/Aventurine can ever deliver a decent game experience, and you are right, perhaps no game will ever be to their liking. What you are suggesting is that fans make allowances for DF's shortcomings because its a rare breed, perhaps almost one of a kind, but those who hold DF to a higher standard are narrow minded trolls. To me there's little difference between the two camps, just two sides of the same coin really.

Heres what they are by definition:
A Troll: "An individual who starts a new thread, or reply, with the intent to souly bait anyone and everyone into an argument with the single intent to cause michief and anger amongst those whom disagree with the troll."
A Fanboi: "An individual whom hangs on every word of a developer, or community rep, that will NOT under ANY circumstances look beyond their current 'last hope for their gaming (career)' and think logically about what the pitfalls may actually be with their beautiful 'one of a kind' game."
It's very hard to be neither of the two, as most of the time you will be labeled as a "Fanboi" if you say ANYTHING good about a game by trolls, and vice versa. :/ |

Difference between "Trolls" and "Fanboys"? That statement makes no sense. "Fanboys" are trolls. Just as much as "Haters" are.
The only people on this forum who are not trolls are the people who either like or dislike (or don't know yet) the game without making a fuss over it. |

Fanboys = people who like the game and will defend it.
Trolls = people who don't and will attack it.
Trolls declare someone to be a fanboy yet fanboys declare who is a troll... SO WHO IS PHONE?!?!

Until I see some significant changes in Darkfall that point towards the games original design and not some half-assed piece of crap which has been drastically altered to serve the fanbois then I will gladly rip both this game apart and Aventurine like any other games company that both forgets their promises and the game that they originally were wanting to make.
